  1. Can you snorkel at your own leisure or do you have to stay with the group? I might want to take the 5yo but wouldn't venture as far as the group.

For us they took us out in groups. We have snorkeled many times so went with the advanced group. I didn't pay attention to what the beginners were doing. I don't know if they would let you go by yourself or not. I would think if you just wanted to stay close to shore that would be ok, but don't know for sure. There were young children on our excursion but I don't know what they did. (Had my face in the water! Lol)

  2. We were there in February. It's a very small island with a nice place that kids could play. When you get off the boat they break up into three snorkeling groups: beginners, intermediate, advanced. If you don't want to snorkel you just hang out on the beach. They had a couple kayaks there too that you could use. It's a very pretty beach, your kids will enjoy it. And it's just the people from carnival, no one else. They had hamburgers and hot dogs for sale, along with soda and beer. I can't remember the prices but take $ if you might want something. The Only thing they provided was punch on the way back.

Btw, we were back in plenty of time to get cleaned up and go to shore for a bit of shopping.

  3. Are you afraid of the water? Makes a difference. If not, you can get some kind of flotation device to hang on to. And the carnival excursions all require life vests be worn. (I really dislike!) if you are afraid of the water I wouldn't go. Remember, it's the ocean and you wouldn't want to panic.

  4. I've read about the conch shells down the beach. I've bought them at other ports. Are they worth picking up? Do you shine them up? They don't come with critters? I assume they are cleaned out for the conch dishes.

  5. No different than the sheets on the beds. I'm sure they have hundreds on each ship for use plus the ones they sell.

I'm not convinced. I can see the stewards being instructed to look at them and then hang them up if they appear clean. That is just my opinion.... I'm going to throw them on the bathroom floor from now on like the previous poster said.

  6. Segwaytourspr(dot)com looks to be the place. I've been thinking about booking the tour for January. We did a Segway tour in Redding at the park there where the sundial bridge is. They were really fun to ride. I did have to really concentrate as to whether to lean forward, back to make it go or slow down. Lol

  7. Belize we did the Carnival excursion Rendezvous Cay snorkel and beach. They pick you up at the ship and you head opposite way of the tenders. They take

you to a teeny island for snorkeling. It was awesome.

Roatan we did the Carnival zipline and beach break. You go to the top of a mountain and I think there were 13 ziplines clear down to the beach. Then they drive you over to Tabayna and you can stay as long as you want and then take a carnival bus back when you are ready. Look for monkeys while you are going down!!

Both of these were the highlight of our trip.

  8. I have a battery operated alarm clock that lights up at night. Works great as it gives off a little light so room isn't pitch black. I like having an alarm clock so I can just glance and see what time it is. I don't generally wear a watch.

Suntan lotions, aspirin, tip money. Don't over pack. I learned a long time ago I don't wear half of what I take.

  9. We have 4 ports, 2 of which we choose all inclusives, so we decided this program would not be for us. DH may have been ok (he likes his corona) but I'm not that big of a drinker. We bought him the soda card last time and it turned out to be the one week in his life he wanted to drink water! Lol
