The only issue with being all the way forward is if you have rough seas. All the way forward and uppermost decks have the most motion. Just a thought.

London - The Dukes. Barcelona - The Palace. Both quiet. But both pricey.

Sorry to hear this. The Explorer is usually pretty good. I hope things will get better.

We did this two days ago. No problems. Many taxis. Regent will accommodate your breakfast. Also, the trip to airport from your hotel will be easy, not much traffic going out.
-
I agree with ronrick, Regent does have a problem with this and they make no attempt to correct it. Just posting a request doesn't do it. Perhaps all cruise lines experience this issue because many passengers simply have no regard for others. If staff would clear the chairs, much of the problem might go away.

Boblerm,
On the Voyager, what has the pool area been like? Crowds or no? Any special events?
Thanks. Tripperva

Captain Dag used to say "You know the cruise is over when you throw a towel on the floor and it stays there until YOU pick it up."

I think the Regent "representatives" out on the tours stay at the back of the groups with handicapped folks and possibly slower seniors so they do not get separated. A good service. Having done 12 Regent cruises with 2 more booked, I agree with TC about the unfortunate behavior assembling in the theater, cutting in line, taking the handicapped seats, etc. This has been true on Silversea as well. Must be human nature. Is it also the case on less upscale cruise lines? I don't know.

Yes,the deck parties can be a lot of fun for most of us, but the noise doesn't end when the music stops at 9 or 10pm. The crew then commences the break down of removing tables, chairs, equipment etc for an hour or two.
The guests just below pool deck (deck 10 on Voyager and Mariner) experience considerable deck noise above from the 3pm set up until the midnight finish. Just saying, Regent and travel agents could make it known in advance to anyone booking the deck below pool deck.
-
Guests on deck 10 on The Voyager hear everything loud & clear from the pool deck, especially at night. If there will be late deck parties, Regent should disclose in advance to anyone booking those suites. With so many sold out cruises, they cannot move you to a more reasonable accommodation.I agree with TC, it gets loud sometimes.

I agree. Crystal cabins too small.

Most of the ports in the Caribbean - too many other ships and too many jewelry shops.
Agreed!

This summer Regent is using Rey Juan Carlos, a good but commercial hotel. It is near the beach and pretty far away from everything.

"As of March 2017, the Explorer was not particularly sound proof but was better than suites on the Navigator. We would not book a cruise under the pool deck on any Regent ship (except maybe Mariner which, IMO, is the most sound proofed ship of the fleet). )
TC, Does the noise under the pool deck get to suites on the Voyager, as far as you know? We are booked in a Seven Seas Suite #1021. On previous Voyager trips, deck 10, there did not seem to be a problem. But not sure about #1021. We did indeed experience a lot of noise on Silversea under the pool deck, especially the Whisper,Silver Suite. Any further thoughts about deck 10,Voyager? Thanks.

It must differ from cruise to cruise. We were on Explorer in December and enjoyed excellent food and menu and mostly excellent service.

Explorer Christmas cruise Miami to Miami the lounge hogs were out in full force with various things placed on seats for hours. The crew makes no attempt to enforce . Regent could deal with these folks by clearing off all the reserved loungers.
-
1. tripperva - Christmas cruises, some Caribbean cruises and most Alaska cruises bear no resemblance to typical Regent cruises. We were on a fully booked cruise out of Miami on the Mariner and no one went over or under the ropes or pushed to the head of the line. Regent cruisers do not typically do this (there are always one or two exceptions). These unusual itineraries tend to have people that are new to Regent - are part of families that are not versed in luxury cruising or simply have no idea what to expect. For these reasons, Regent regulars tend to avoid these itineraries - unless they are including their families on the cruise.
Sorry TC, but in this particular case, your information is not correct. The Explorer holiday cruise was largely Regent regulars. The Seven Seas Society reception was attended by nearly the whole ship as they were Regent regulars. And yes,the embarkation was unfortunately a little uncivilized. In keeping with the subject of this thread, perhaps Regent could plan ahead for the next holiday Miami sailing. We're booked.
-
I would wish for a more orderly and supervised embarkation process. The sold out Explorer Christmas cruise from Miami December 20 experienced crowds going over the ropes, under the ropes and pushing through the ropes.Supposedly upscale passengers were anything but. So, for this type of fully booked cruise, could Regent provide more personnel to oversee the check in, out in the terminal. Or, arrange for the terminal staff to do that.
We haven't witnessed this behavior in 46 cruises.

No sports offered on Explorer TV, no ESPN or bowl coverage. Too bad this time of year especially.

I have to agree with Judy. Oceania MDR offers the finest dining at sea. Best food and best service. And I am a Regent fan with 10 cruises done and 2 more booked. Also 10 on Silversea,2 on Seabourne,1 Cunard and a bunch on the old Royal Viking Sun. I hope Regent will catch up to Oceania MDR.
-
We have taken 10 Regent cruises and have booked two more, but have never been offered an upgrade or an upsell. We have been on the waitlist for 11 months to upsell from Penthouse B on Explorer but no results. I cannot imagine what their system is.

The Splendor ?

Thank you Marines and all vets for serving America and all of us.

St.Maarten and possibly other ports will be unavailable to winter cruises such as the Explorer holiday trip.
Several alternative stops have been terribly damaged as well, so where can Regent go? Hopefully they will not simply add more sea days on top of 2 existing concurrent sea days. I think all travelers feel the pain for residents of these devastated islands.
