got the email this morning for a free interior room on select sailings through 11/21. Called the number and was told that there is no such offer tied to my account. I have the email with my name, and captain's circle number. Very strange! Has anyone else had this happen? Not sure what to do next. Figured I would try tomorrow to see if it was just a delay in the computers catching up.

Was able to book our 10 day Mexico on the grand for dec 5 2021 in balcony. Had no issues doing it online or via phone. I noticed that some cabin classes were showing not available online, so if wanted a mini suite would have had to call. I called anyway due to needing to move deposits from other cruises. Cancelled the same cruise on the emerald for dec 2020. The total price for the new cruise same cabin class was 430 less per person due to casino offering. However, even without the casino rate, the price was exactly the same as the 2020.

WOW they have the Grand back on the west coast. I thought she was going to europe for good!

Good to know. First time it’s happened for me. I spoke with a princess rep today for something else and asked. They are not showing it as paid or ticketed, so it might just be an issue with aa. The price was good and I can still cancel up to the 45 days out. All good.

We are booked on the October 6 california coastal from Vancouver. I doubt it will go and am expecting it to get cancelled. However, I was on American Airlines today checking some other flights for refunds when I saw that, yesterday, Princess "ticketed" my ezair flights. Until 45 days out, my flights always show as pending and you can not make modifications on AAs site. Wonder why they would ticket these flights five months ahead of time when they are not paid for. Anyone else see similar on their pending ezair flights?

thank you for the clarification -- We will just ask when we check in.

Just curious how you plan to do that? Do you have access to the BA computer systems, because the best you can do otherwise is to know if there are nine or more seats "for sale" (which doesn't indicate actual load due to overbooking algorithms)?
I was going to look on Expert Flyer - does that not provide that data right before the flight.

Mina, most european airlines do not allow underseat storage in exit rows. US airlines have different policy. I have flown Air France, BA, and Swiss Air; none allowed exit row under seat storage. I have stayed at the Hilton; it is ok; and I read you bought the shuttle service to airport. It usually runs fairly smoothly.
Thank you -- good to know! I think we will monitor the flight load and make the decision the night before as to whether we will be able to get overhead bin space. Now, I just have to wait and see if any of my flights get cancelled due to lack of demand. Reading BA is cutting back on flights right now. I have a feeling I won't know if we are going or not till the two week mark prior to the flights - as I understand BA tries not to cancel within the two weeks due to penalties. If they do cancel and rebook any of our flights, then we will get our money back and stay home. We would prefer to stay home given c0v19 -- but given the $$ invested in the flights and low risk in Croatia -- we are leaving it to the airline gods to determine.
-
UGH -- you are so right! did not realize that no under seat storage on BA in exit row. Usually fly AA and always stow under the seat. We will plan to check these bags the night before and just hope we can find room for our back packs when we board.

If you're near the exit row I'd say unlikely, although this is a theory as I don't travel economy on BA.
The exit rows can be assigned by BA Golds (Group 1) and BA Silvers (Group 2) ahead of time. As they're more spacious than Club Europe they are prized seats and given not only can they board before you but they'll need to store all their bags in the overhead then you've a double whammy.
Obviously depends on the number of BA Golds/Silvers, how full your flight is, phase of the moon etc.
-
so follow up question -- recommendation as to whether we will have a chance to stow our carry on in overhead bin space with economy boarding? If it will be a problem - we will check the bags the night before. Thoughts?

Thank you fbgd.

Thank you. We are flying out of south terminal and have prepaid at the Hilton. Have read the poor reviews after booking of course. Since we will be exhausted hoping it will be fine for one night. Appreciate the tips!

hi all:
I have some specific questions about BA boarding and flying out of Gatwick. Hope those BA FF can help! Thank you.
We have a mult-leg trip from Phx to Dubrovnik all on one BA ticket. Flying premium economy from Phx to LHR. Overnighting, then flying the next day in economy from Gatwick on BA 2678 to Dubrovnik @ 9 am on April 24 {Friday}. We are on an A320 with paid exit row 13 seats. We only travel with carry ons that fit under seats and a back pack each. So my questions are:
1. BA boarding: We have no priority, so assume our BA 2678 flight will be in boarding group 4 or 5. We prefer not to check bags, but seat guru says that there is no under seat storage for Row 13 exit row seats and our backpacks and carry on would not both fit under one seat anyway. Should we take the chance of having bin space when we board?
2. Do we really need to be at Gatwick three hours in advance? We are staying at HIlton Gatwick and could use the extra hour sleep.
3. It is low cost to buy Gatwick preferred security access. Is it worth it or are the security lines not that bad? In the states we have global access and sometimes the TSA precheck line is longer than regular TSA.
Thank you for your help!

Lastly, there's also a couple of times / week from the Bellingham airport on Allegiant to IWA/Williams airport in Phoenix, and QuickShuttle do stop there.
Without knowing your exact dates, it's hard to pin down what might be the best option for you. If you're willing to take a flight that isn't a non-stop, there's a bazillion options with changes in pretty much any city on the west coast.
We leave. Weds. Oct 6 after work and have an AA non stop that leaves around 5 pm and we are staying at the pan pacific that night s well, so the direct flight is desirable so we can get in time to have a nice dinner. I checked westjet and no direct flights on our dates and the cost was a bit more. At least if AA does not cancel the direct flight on the way there, we will keep these flights. But I will keep watching for lower fares and other direct flights. Thank you.
dog lover, we are excited to stay at the pan pacific! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

It's good that you mentioned these specifics! While SkyTrain opens at the same time every day, and since it would be the first train you want the lower frequency on Sundays won't make a difference, you will need to use a different entrance to the station. The regular advice to walk along Howe then Cordova and enter the main station doors does not apply that early - those doors don't open until 5:30am! While it does involve a wee bit of uphill walking from the PP, it's still only ~400 yards/5mins walk to the Hastings/Granville entrance from the PP. There's even an elevator right at sidewalk level if you have a lot of bags.
With GE you should be in the Timmies queue even faster - just remember your actual cards, as the Security minions don't scan passports so the only way into the short queue is to display the card itself!
Thanks so much. We will bring our cards with us. Good info on the sky train entrance. We would have went to the main entrance and panicked.

Both Air Canada and Westjet operate non-stop YVR-PHX; in addition to the YVR-PHX on AA (which as you state is going away)
Have you checked the airlines directly ?
I have a great price thru aa and princess. The air canada flights are much more expensive direct or thru princess. I did not see westjet, so will check that out since I can still cancel the aa flights with no penalty up thru August. Ty.

As fellow folks from Phoenix, just wondering why you are limiting your travels to AA? If you have status with them, understood. Otherwise, Delta (our preferred mainline carrier) has flights that might work, connecting thru SeaTac. What about Alaska Airlines? It might be worth a look to balance "cost" vs "comfort/accomodating schedule."
Even though PHX is an AA hub, we avoid them like the plague.
Good luck!
We usually use southwest or delta. However, we booked AA through Princess flexible air cause they were the only ones with direct flights to and from YVR for about 250 per person round trip. Aa has now cancelled the direct return flight on Sunday and put us on a really bad timing/connection flight. So In order to keep the great price I have on these flights, I will need princess to contact AA and move us to a different flight for free. Hence, the questions.
-
thanks for the advice. We are staying at the Pan pacific and were not sure if the sky train runs that early on a Sunday. We both have global entry, so arriving around 5:15 am will put us exactly two hours before the flight and give us a bit of cushion.
-
Thank you both. I found another aa flight connecting thru Dallas that leaves at 7 am, with good timing. so will call princess on Monday to request that return flight instead of the crazy early with a crazy connection time. Thank you.
-
Thank you. Does anyone know what time us customs opens at YVR? We will modify the connection at lax to make it longer.
-
Aa only has one other reasonable flight and that leaves an hour or so later connecting through Dallas. That adds about three more hours of travel time to phx. The rest of their flights leave too late in the day and would put us home later than we want. Our alternatives are to change the flight and go home on Saturday night or reserve a new flight through princess on a different airline. Both of these options would require refaring that will be about $450 more in total. We have the flexible flights reserved right now through princess that are a great price, so the flights are not ticketed thru aa yet, just showing pending status.
-
In October, we will be returning from yvr to phx on the 18th. AA cancelled our direct flight at 8:15 am on a Sunday and have put us on a 5:45 am flight with a 41 minute connection through lax. So a couple questions,
what time do we have to be a YVR on a sunday morning? I am reading that us customs does not open till 4:30 am, but also am reading that we need to be there three hours in advance. So what do we do, stand in line for 165 mins till customs opens? Is arriving two hours in advance appropriate for a Sunday morning at YVR? Does US customs open earlier when there is such an early flight?
Is the 41 min connection time in lax sufficient to get to the gate before boarding starts? We travel with only carry ons, so do not want to be the last people on the plane. There is another flight that has a 90 min connection, that we could ask to switch to.

Casino offer -- Just Joking
in Princess Cruises
Posted
Good thought, but it matches. Thinking it will be caught up tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s fine. The casino rep was quite in a bad mood when I called, so makes me think perhaps I just keep our current cruise as if not on a casino rate, we won’t partake. Probably cheaper in the long run.
