    They have dancing on Silversea?

On our last cruise  - 54 days on the Moon -   there was a large group of ballroom dancers and every night in the Panorama Lounge they were waltzing, foxtroting and cha cha charing to  the  music from the boys in the band.

We agree. You don’t need anything more than a sport jacket on ss as long as you don’t dine in Atlantide on formal nights.

we do black tie on Cunard because we want to. It’s the norm. Totally different vibe

And we do black tie on Silverseas  because we want to,   I dont understand  why you will  do  formal  wear on  Cunard   ....  but NOT on Silversea !!

No.  The thing here is to wear Stubbs & Wooten dress slippers with the tuxedo, without socks.  "Stubbies" are very chic here, and rather expensive - around $600 or so for a pair.

So  STUBBIES  in Australia are popular too   but ours looks like this =

  4. The world's largest ship named "Icon Of The Seas" sets sail in January 2024.
It will carry 5610 passengers and 2350 crew members.
It has 19 floors with more than 40 bars, restaurants and bowling alleys; it will have 6 slides, 7 swimming pools and 9 hot tubs. !!

NOW THAT IS A NIGHTMARE !!!

May be an image of boat

  5. I have a very strong "sensitivity"   to   chilli, bell peppers, capsicum   ( ie:  I am  not "allergic"  as in anaphylaxis  - but I get some of the symptoms without  "passing out ")  - so I  make sure I dont have these when  ordering.  But it is on "my profile"  so  the waiters know  if I don't check   what is in something I have ordered  they let me know   and I can  change  what I have ordered,  it works well  and everyone is happy  !

I like the newer ships from Silversea.

More choice of dining venues and generally a better design than the older ships.

    Try one,then you'll know.

Totally agree with Mr Luxury !  We started out  on the Explorer in 2010,  have sailed  Cloud and Wind before becoming expedition, Whisper, Shadow, Muse, Moon and  Dawn.  We always thought the M, M & D were "too big "  for us  - until  we tried them - and discovered we love the "big" ships  !

  7. We have just had 54 days on the Moon sailing around the Med.  We love the Moon and its crew  !

You have quite a few sea days getting to  and back  from Hawaii ! As others have said only free laundry in a Silver Suite or above, ( or when you hit 100 days ) but there is  a free laundrette on every floor.

If you do  decide to  cruise  SS,  I would definitely book  dinner reservations when  the bookings open  as with all those sea days it is a captive group !

  8. We are long time SS cruisers  also  from Australia,   and we always do  our own  air fares/flights  and arrive at the port a day or 2 before boarding.  We NEVER arrive in a port the day of or the day  before boarding  !!   With the way flights are cancelled/rescheduled these days -  we always allow a day  or two  before boarding a cruise  to  get over the flights to  get there !

We would be in Lembar Lombok, Indonesia on March 15, 2024.

Mysty, Lombok is famous for their pottery !  Every village makes it !  We went in 1992  and I bought some huge platters and bowls  but then  had to  get them  home,  so  bought a  big batik bag to put them in and Ron had to  carry it as though it was light - nearly gave him a hernia - but he got them  on the plane and I still have them  today  !  Get Myster to  start building up  those arm  muscles 😉

  10. Has Silverseas really gotten worse since RCL acquired them

NO !  we have just spent 54 days on the Moon.  On boarding  our butler from our last cruise ( Dawn August '22) saw me  in corridor on on way to  our  room,  She called me by  name,  we had a hug,  and she said  - give me you phone  and had hooked me to  to  the internet  before we got into  our room,  - she knew me well, I am  hopeless at this stuff !  🤩  This is why we love SS,  so many staff  that know you well  from previous cruises.  In the MDR, Kaiseki, Panorama Lounge,  all  remembered us from previous cruises. Some going back  to  our Explorer days !!   I had a back  injury before this cruise  - so  I had limited my  excursions,  so  spent a  lot of time on the ship,  54 days is a long time  -  but I was not disapointed  that I could  not get out and about,  I  am  so  glad SS  have  such high repeat of staff, they are happy,   we are happy =  great cruise.
