"Free" restaurants typically open on embarkation day would be Windjammer (buffet) and Park Cafe in the Solarium.  You may find one of the specialty restaurants (extra charge) open too.

My tip would be if you go to the WindJammer, go outside all the way at the back for a nice place to eat & get out of the boarding day hustle & bustle. 🙂

ALWAYS ask if anyone from the Roll Call has organized an activity and would like the microphone to make an announcement.  Ask if anyone, for any reason, needs to make an announcement.

And yes, insist on an identification by Cruise Critic screen name.  I find it mildly annoying when all of the prizes are won by people  who say, "Huh?  What's that?" when asked.

Some AMs will give a prize to the person who starts the Roll Call or who contributes the most to the Roll Call.  Most Roll Calls have a person like this.

A certain AM used to give an extra prize to the person whose CC screen name she liked best.  😉

Yes, these are wonderful suggestions! I think anything that gets people in person to participate in person like they do online is great! And sometimes the person saying Huh? is the spouse who has not been online & is happily clueless about the M&M The best one that I ever went to was really hosted by M&M participant! They had a cabin crawl that followed it and as a newbie at the time I really appreciated being able to SEE different room types.

But BEST advice was “ignore the grumbles”

I have stopped signing up just because of 1)no info or wrong info given on invite 2)hard to find those that I connected with online at the M&M

  3. It is my first time to Aruba and I would like to see the flamingos. I would also like to take an island tour. Is there an island tour that gives you a flamingo encounter/viewing?

I participated in a live review of our Navigator 9-night ABC cruise this past November so you will find some info and pics in that. The ABC stuff starts about halfway through.

    Awesome, this is very helpful!

If you search freedom of the seas reviews you should find what you’re looking for. I know mine included what we did in the ABC islands. They’re my favourite!

    Thank you, I enjoyed it!

  5. Thanks all, this is helpful info! I do not know if my nephew has ever tried it, so getting sushi to go is probably best for them. lol, if my nephew does not care for it, I know my son will happily polish it off in his own.

  6. My son likes Sushi. Last Cruise I booked the class, so he could enjoy it without the rest of us tolerating a sushi meal. Could he get Sushi from Izumi to go? If so, how is the pricing? Is it per roll/per person? I am just trying to figure out how he can get his sushi fix on his own.

Flavio is the one who waits on you.

He's always checking on you and easy to wave down when needed. We paid cash in US dollars so I don't know about credit cards.

Bathrooms are brand new and clean. I don't have a picture of those. I do have the menu if you're interested.

That looks yummy! And yes, if you have the menus that would help!

It's been a couple of years since I did this zipline, but I didn't think it was too extreme.  The only thing that was a little scary is that some of the lines require you to take a big step off the platform and it looks like you'll just fall.  It's not bad because you quickly stop going down...just makes you think twice before you actually step off.  The guides provide a safety briefing before leaving the check in area and they were very safety conscious throughout the trip.

By the way, how did you find out they were open again?  We were just in St. Thomas in early Dec and was told they were still closed and it wasn't offered as a Carnival excursion.  Several years ago when I contacted the zip line company directly, I was told that I needed to go through the Carnival excursion because of their contract and couldn't DIY myself via a taxi.  Don't know if that's changed though.

    Hope this helps!

They came up on my TA search & one of the reviews was just a couple weeks old, so back open! 🙂
