  1. Without knowing exactly what issues you are having, I would suggest clearing your cache. Or use Chrome. I use both in my laptop because some sites work better on one or the other but by not both. I have one other idea but haven't tested it yet. Perhaps later today I will.

  2. I only have a few drinks a year but I do enjoy Diet Coke. I cannot justify $8/50/day. I may have 2 a day on the weekends but it doesn't cost $8.50. I like bottled water too. Still doesn't add up. I can drink the free options and if I feel re need for a soda. I'll pay whatever the cost is for a single can.

Although you are talking alcohol, etc, and I was talking about soda, the same concept applies. Figure how much you normally drink and do the math. Personally I don't spend $48 a year on alcohol so it sounds like a terribly expensive package for a one week cruise.

  3. We were on the Grandeur back in 2013 but I honestly don't remember what the facilities were like. Is there a quiet, area in the spa? Not the Solarium - that can get too crowded and/or noisy. (Being introverts has it's challenges.) My husband loved the quiet area in the Queen Mary's spa and I was hoping the Grandeur has something similar.

  4. I was able to get Surf & Stream for 1 device for $8.99/day. The regular price is $14.99/day. I'm not Diamond so I can't help with that part. Maybe it's more because of your destination? Keep an eye open for sales. I got emails that alerted me back in November and jumped on that rate immediately.

  5. If you don't get passports and there is an emergency that would require you to fly home, you wouldn't be able to. Since you have a while, why not get passports for the adults now, then the minors later to spread out the expense.

I am also a PA resident so if Harrisburg doesn't get their butts in gear in the next months, I'm covered by my passport. Something to consider, there could be a delay if you wait because of that inaction. Pennsylvania isn't the only state that needs change the licenses - you don't want to pay extra to expedite your passports.

  6. We st pay enough to get a room with a mini-frig. Last cruise the room steward brought us ice at night to keep night's milk cold. And we learned that you can get milk at any time by asking. Frig would be nice but saving money is nicer.

Sincerely sorry for all those that have had to deal with this inconvenience after their cruises. It does smack of a way for RCCL to dip into one's pocket in a somewhat nefarious way; that or just plain incompetence.

My gripe about the mini-fridges is that I wish the dang things would actually provide some cold air. It would be nice to stick a couple of milks in there to have at night. In the past when we have done so the darn things soured because of the lack of coldness. I just head up to the coffee shop and grab a carton but would prefer to have the darn thing actually produce some cold air.

  7. Never having been on the Allure, my suggestion would be to save that for Fantasy Night at home. Balconies are not *that* private. And know that if you decide they are, your neighbor may end up posting details in a "Wildest thing I ever saw on the Allure" thread.

My husband and I have booked a junior suite on the Allure for a cruise this summer. It will be our 1st cruise and we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary. We are rather conservative and modest but without sharing too much, we also enjoy our private time with each other very much. We will have a week without our three children and have a desire to have fun and enjoy the late night view, sounds, and scents of the open ocean together. This would check an item off or our "to do" list, however, while we want to enjoy our access to the balcony we prefer for others not to be part of our time together. Again, no need for details, but are the private balconies private enough for us to enjoy a intimate interlude without fear of prying eyes?
  8. Never! How did we ever manage to cope before we had the Internet?? :-)

If I should ever find myself having difficulties, I'll be on the phone too. We have a cruise already reserved for next year so I don't foresee booking anything for at least a year. Unless of course the folks on our upcoming cruise want to make me an offer I can't resist.

You mean not post our opinions here -- where's the fun in that?:eek: The first time I have problems booking a cruise online when trying to use the recategorization, you'd better believe I will direct my concerns to RCI. :D
  9. As the nothing that I can do about the situation, it's up to me to figure out if I want to continue traveling on RCI. I maintain that some of their changes make sense to me. Right now there's a lot of supposition about how easy/confusing it will be. Perhaps a better option would be to direct your concerns to RCI? Surely they would try to answer any questions you may have.

Glad it makes "sense" to you and you're ok with it....Many of us aren't. It's always been easy to book our JS (20+) RCI cruises and even to easily change locations when something better became available..I don't think this will be the case any longer.
  10. Thank you for your responses. Pricing by location makes sense. We pay more for airline seats in the main cabin than in the back, more to live in "better" cities, etc. My husband and I start with price and then take location into consideration. A few dollars extra for a better location may or may not be a deal breaker. We're just glad to be able to afford on a cruise at all.

  11. I was able to get my internet (Surf and Stream) for $9/day, which is cheaper than onboard prices. Watch for sales. This will be my first time with Voom but I can't see it being worse than the speeds I've had on ships in the past. Slow but doable.

I am interested in Voom on the Grandeur but I hesitate to pre buy package because I had internet package on Liberty last year and it was awful. Anyone have any recent experience with Voom on the Grandeur? Any info would be helpful.
  12. We went to France and England in 2015. I got our euros from our bank and pounds from Wells Fargo. WF gave me a better deal as far as the fees go. Plus it was much easier. We used our debit card while we were gone and I don't remember any huge fees. I knew that if I had to I could get more when we got to our destinations but didn't have to. I brought home about 20€ and about 20£. Admittedly we were a little more generous on our last days.

I am too controlling (when possible) and could not have waited until arriving.

  13. If you can't find them as a necklace, check you local Hallmark store. They carry a similar brand and have supplemented my bracelet with charms purchased there. I know they have necklaces available.

Does anyone know if they sell them as a necklace? I bought a bracelet on our last cruise but would like to transfer the beads to a necklace.
  14. Thank you for the cheese tip.

White, red, blue. Backwards alphabetical ordet. Got it!

If you enjoy Parmigiano Reggiano cheese ask for it at Giovanni's. It's not on the menu. I ordered the antipasto for 2 and this cheese was not on the plate. Asked our waiter if they had some, and he came back with some 4 pieces for me. A few minutes later he asked if I wanted more and I complied. Turned him down the 3rd time.

Also, found out about the sash around the Sous Chef necks: White is the boss, red is next, followed by blue.

  15. I bought the BOGO for our trip on the Grandeur and also plan on visiting Chopps and Giovanni's. I paid $30/person, which is $15/meal/person. That's quite resonable. We spent more than that last night at Chili's.

I have just bought the BOGO for the first two nights and it was just over 28€ per person. That's 14€ per night. This is for Jewel in June and we will be going to Chops and Giovanni's.
