  1. I saw a package that you can buy with digital but I don't think it's offered with single pictures. Just be aware that if you take it somewhere to get scanned in, you may need some sort of a release from RCI. Carnival had one they sent me upon request. When I got my photo from Royal scanned in, they (Target) didn't ask.

    Just found this:

  2. We've sailed from Baltimore twice but never went up for the sailaway. Do you remember roughly what time they go under the bridge, etc? We did a TA home from a Paris vacation and sailed into New York. I got up early so I could watch as we passed under the Verazzano Narrows Bridge. Very cool.

OP, have you sailed out of Baltimore before? It's very cool to be on an upper deck, midships, for sailaway and the following hour or two. As well as seeing Fort McHenry and other historic sites, approaching and going under the bridges is a fun experience.

Grandeur has a very nice promenade deck, and the South Pacific Lounge is one of our favorite public rooms on a ship. The artwork in passenger cabin hallways is very well done.

  3. Those who criticize the Grandeur sadden me. Apparently they feel the need for constant entertainment or diversions. I wonder if are that critical about everything in life. We enjoy rest, peace and quiet, good food, and the chance to see new places. Room stewards are an added plus. Maybe our expectations are low but we are grateful that we can plan a vacation like this every few years. So many people we know can't afford to splurge on a meal out or even buy new shoes when the ones they are wearing have holes in them.

    Here is my advice:

Go into your cruise knowing that the Grandeur is older with fewer bells and whistles. She is showing her age. You are largely responsible for occupying yourself. Yes, there is a rockclimbing wall and swimming pool and solarium with pool and hot tubs. There are trivias and dance classes and dance parties. There is a nightly show in the Palladium theater. There are movies on the poolside screen or in the theater. There are 4 specialty dining experiences.

No refrigerator in interior or ocean view cabins.

It is all about managing your expectations.

  4. We were in Freeport a few years ago. I wouldn't call it a dump. It's a working port. We didn't go far that day so I don't know what the surrounding area had to offer. We walked thru that little shop area just off the ship. Didn't find anything that we wanted there. It was clean tho, people were nice. No complaints.

Yes, we are in Freeport today. What a dump! :(

We have three Bahamas stops: Freeport, Nassau & CocoCay.

  5. Thank you for asking that question. I bought the same package and wondered the same thing. My husband is a bit of a picky eater. I'm not but not much on Izumi's menu appealed to me. If I won't eat it, hubby definitely will not. This will be our first time in one of the specialty venues. Hopefully it won't disappoint.

I have reserved the "BOGO 2 night specialty dinner package. I understand that this is for the first 2 nights. So, would formal night be that 2nd night? You are not given the restaurants until you're on the ship. I am not fond of Japanese cuisine, so if I am given Izumi as one, can I change it? I'm hoping for Giovani and Chops. I am traveling solo on this cruise, so I would like to find out as much as possible. Only on RC once. Thanks
  6. There is a thread named "Royal Caribbean Cabin Information Compilation -NO CABIN QUESTIONS POSTED HERE PLEASE!"

Although you asked about 7652, there is a post on cabin 7654, next door to your cabin. It was posted in 2014. There are photos that may be of interest to you.

There's also a post on 7650. No photos but it does have comments.

  7. There are shows but not the huge productions you may be used to. My husband and I are not gamblers or drinkers so we usually do a bit of walking and people-watching followed by an in-room movie on a laptop. Probably not the kind of evening's Entertainment That you would be looking for.

Quick question regarding entertainment on the Grandeur. We are sailing this summer and thus far it is the smallest ship we have been on. This is the first ship that I will be on that does not have "big shows". I'm concerned that there will not be a lot of night time activities. We like going to shows and are perfectly content sitting in a bar and listening to great live music. We do not like the casino so that's not an option. For anyone who has sailed on the Grandeur please tell me what you did at night for fun.
