  1. I toyed with the idea of surprising my husband during our cruise. We will be at sea on his birthday. I just can't justify an extra $60+ for a meal. I did arrange a spa appointment for him on his birthday. I know he will be a happy camper that day without Chops.

That's correct, so with the $21 Roasted Lobster that would be a total of $56. Ouch! I could never eat that much and didn't pay a lot of attention.

  2. I asked RCI customer service that exact question. You may use multiple devices but only one can be connected at a time.

FOLLOW UP QUESTION if I may: If my husband and I are looking to check in with people back home or work periodically, can we get ONE DEVICE plan and just share as long as we are not both logged on simultaneously? Does that make sense? Like can whomever in the family use it just only one device at a time?
  3. That's the offer I jumped on. My husband can gladly do wirhout wifi. I'm the opposite. I've paid up too $100 for wifi on ships. The $8.99 deal was a no-brainer for me. I'm really interested to see how fast Voom is. Regardless, it will be great to not deal with airplane mode and rationing my wifi usage per day.

Sorry you missed the sale RCI had a few months ago. For our March HOTS cruise I got Voom Surf/Stream one device for $8.99 per day.
  4. We have limited experience. One trip to the Bahamas in mid-March, one trip to New England/Canada in mid-October. No issues with the ships but we learned to apply a Transderm patch the night before we leave. We learned that the hard way. Apparently the Outer Banks area is always an "interesting" experience at sea.

We have sailed from NJ a number of times and would like to give Baltimore a try as well. There are some great itineraries for Grandeur of the Seas for longer cruises. I must admit I am a little concerned about sailing on the Atlantic on such a small ship, just wondering if there is a month you would suggested based on experience?
  5. I know it's not what you wanted to do but I'd suggest schlepping the bags to BWI and hang out there. There's nothing close to the cruise terminal and I'd be concerned that even if you found a place to stow your luggage and took in a few of Baltimore's sights, you could end up getting hung up in traffic or the like and missing your flight home. That would be worse that spending time at the airport.

  6. I found a copy of the Compass online the other night. It was from a sailing in July 2016.

Google for the link. This site will not let me post a link to it.

For those of you who have sailed on the Grandeur recently, do you have any MDR/other menus or Cruise Compasses you can share? If they were posted, I missed them.

We'll be sailing a 12 night from Baltimore on the Grandeur for the first time in a few weeks.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. The Redhook terminal isn't used frequently enough for any of the car renal companies to put a fleet in there.

Hertz at 90 Union street notes: "Cab fare from Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to this location will be reimbursed up to USD 10.00 with receipt and proof of arrival on a cruise ship."

    Hertz Park Slope

I think that's the office we have to get to. I'd have to check my receipt to be positive.

  8. Thanks to all who replied.

It looks like we're out of luck on this.

We were trying to find a way home from Brooklyn as well. In the end we decided to get a taxi to the nearest Hertz and we're renting a car and driving ourselves. It's about a 4 hour drive but it would probably be just as long, if not longer, to go by train or plane. I was disappointed that there were no rental kiosks at the terminal.
