We have done the Disney Magic, Royal Caribbeans Oasis ( sister ship to the allure ) and recently NCL's Getaway.

You cant go wrong with any of them but I would choose NCL with the great deals they are offering.... plus my heart leans towards NCL more :)

NCL doesnt have anymore nickle & diming than Royal, there is so much to eat and do, we dont feel we need to spend the $$ on the extra food or activities. Disney has free soda but with the higher initial cruise fare, is it really free?

These days we get a balcony room for four of us. ( 2 adults, 2 teens )

Personally, first cruise & three young children I might consider the family oceanview. To me, two rooms seem abit overkill.

Save money for excursions or maybe another cruise :)

Eastern or Western?

Doesnt really matter, both have amazing things to offer.

( Eastern might have a slight edge ;) )

I booked a cruise in cad at the end of Jan and got the 1.16 exchange.

About 2 weeks later I booked another and got the 1.1 exchange

We are planning on paying our dsc and shore excursions before we cruise.

Ditto... then we head to the buffet for some real breakfast after finishing the two pots of coffee.

Love drinking my coffee in the room, in my pj's.... I look forward to my "comlimentary" room service

I will be heartbroken if they start charging for this. Some of us enjoy this option as much as others enjoy the buffet option....

I can't think of the cardboard company at the moment. Sorry

Last January we booked a balcony room on the Getaway, there is plenty of room for four people (We had Hubby, Wife, Daughter 21 and son 18). We had a room on deck 8. Yes getting ready and use of bathroom is tricky, however we just stagger getting ready. Typically 2 of us shower at night and 2 in the morning. We have always booked all 4 of us in one room. You simply don't spend that much time in room.

This basically sums up our family too.

The balcony is like an extension of the room, giving extra space and quiet time if needed.

I would love to hear what you guys did in the ports on your own and any recommendations for a family of 4 that's not too $$$ :-)

Added a 3rd person to our Getaway cruise Jan 03, 2015. Added prior to full pymt etc. Stateroom did not change.

1st & 2nd passenger booked with kids sail free.

At a later date added third passenger also booked with another ksf promo BUT still had to pay the full third person rate ( almost $600 )

Different ksf promo.....

It was with a travel agent So not sure if that had anything to do with it :(

This time I booked with NCL and she suggested adding a 3 & 4 name now and the name can be changed or cancelled prior to final pymt :)

I booked my cruise Dec 5 for sailing on 3/1-3/7. For this same sailing, they are offering the fare for about the same (depending on who you go with, its +/- $50) BUT they are offering a FREE Ultimate Beverage Package for new bookings. So here's my question. I've gone around and around with my TA with nothing but an offer of $50 onboard, NCL cannot offer anything except for $50. Is there anything else I can possibly do? That is a HUGE value to us and frankly, am very upset that they cannot do anything for me.

 

Has anyone had any experience with this? Positive or Negative?

If you are in a suite and have UDP, can dinner from a specialty restaurant be delivered? I want to have 1 or 2 dinners on my aft balcony!

If you have a butler just about anything can be delivered to your room, including meals from the specialty restaurants. Don't hesitate to ask your butler. They can and will do just about anything you ask of them.

Yes, they can be delivered to your room but would they still be covered under the UDP and have no charge?

Yes Ginza is included in the UDP but the Sushi is not. You will get 20% off of the ala carte for sushi.

Fingers crossed that the booking agent was right when she told me that I could change the name at no cost or cancel the 4th person outright, as long as I made the decision before the PIF date.

I did the same thing today ;) I asked my PCC and she said the exact same thing as you were told. ( Just let her know and she will take care of it )

Weird... I purchased OBC's online two days ago and paid 16% on the exchange, which was the same exchange rate that I paid on my booking. Don't get me wrong, 16% is a whole lot better than the 28% the bank is giving, but I'd love to get the extra 9% benefit that you received.

Same here, after reading all this I booked my cruise yesterday with NCL in cad and it was 16%

I then went to buy the OBC's and they were also the 16%

Other than the two regular beds that convert to a queen, do they have a sofa bed and a Pullman?

I booked a cruise with KSF with a travel agent.

When the next KSF came out I decided to add a 3rd passenger to the same reservation.

They were not free :( 3rd person fare plus taxes

We were not 'paid in full'

This was through a TA, I dont know if things would be different through NCL direct

Great time!

Just off the Getaway and had room service every morning for breakfast.

No phone call any morning, just a knock at the door.

They bring they tray inside when we answered the door.

You choose a time frame, ex: 7:00 - 7:30 am

It would always arrive at the beginning of the time frame chosen ex 7:00am

except

Debarkation day which was about 40 mins later than we anticipated

I think it was March and they had 'kids sail free' plus $200 obc for balcony room.

We got a great deal for our upcoming cruise NCL Getaway Jan 3rd, 2015 :D

Then on Jul 3, I booked an 11 day med with the 'kids sail free' for Mar 2015

$3435.00 with a $50.00 obc. Its over 2k more right now as I type :eek::eek:
