  1. Try Baha Bob's also at bajabob.com

A lot more interesting flavors both the bottled ones and powdered ones.;)

Yes, I have tried his before....I went a little overboard, and got too many bottles, and they sat around, so I eventually tossed them. I may get the mudslide packets though, and doctor them up a bit.

It has been a few years since I checked his sight, so I'm sure he has some new flavors..maybe

  2. For some of you that say don't put trays and dishes in hallway, guess what? I don't, but the room stewards do. Usually because the room service crew go through the hallways with their carts and pick up. They have never sat there long, but they are put out there.

So it really depends on the cruise lines, and how they prefer things to be done. Though it may seem tacky to some, it may not be our choice how the cruise line prefers to do it.

  3. Just an FYI...In a normal situation, when a cabin is booked, using ES, and the cruise is cancelled, $50 is lost, and whatever deposit is left is held up to 2 years until a new cruise is booked. That held money cannot be used towards the deposit, just the remaining total of the cruise. I do know this, because I Have personal expierence with a cruise I'm booked on now.

Now in this situation, since the person wants to be added to another room, it may be a different situation, but just don't count on it. She may have to come up with another $250 deposit. Then the held $200 would be applied to total remaining...if she paid for both deposits, she would have $400 held to apply.

I also think if the ex BF paid his own deposit, and doesn't ever book another cruise in 2 years, he's out the full $250.

  4. About 6 years ago we were on a 14 or 15 night cruise. The whole trip people were reaching with their hands to get things off of the buffet. Day 12 I had had enough. I am in WJ very loudly (not quite yelling...but very loudly) saying "tongs, people, tongs! " mr Ski escorted me to the able and said it was a good thing the trip was almost over be ause I would probably Get us kicked off the ship.

But what is better? Touching tongs that hundreds have touched (not knowing where their hands have been), or carefully grabbing something, making sure not to touch anything around it?

Personally, I always use tongs, but they aren't really the most sanitary.

Pretty soon, everybody will have to wear plastic gloves while going through the buffet line.

  5. We willbe on her the week before she departs. I had heard that the Spirit had cash bars, woder if the same is true for the Legend. There was also mention of 9 and 12 day sailings from Austrailia to exotic places. Pretty interesting.

i sailed the Spirit to Australia last year, and there were no cash bars on the way over. I don't know if that changed once it started sailing from Sydney.

Some of the changes that the Spirit had were the addition of free espresso/capuccino machines in the buffet area, which we were able to enjoy on part of the Australian sailing.

Different slot machines were put in the casino. I don't gamble, so not sure about whether they were good or bad.

A barbeque area was added outdoors during the sailing, but it did not open untill the cruises started from Sydney.

On balcony cabins, additional sliding door locks were added to the upper part of doors. Not sure the reasoning on this.

Since I will also be sailing on the Legend, it will be interesting to see if they make some of the same changes. I sure enjoyed free capuccino's every morning.

  6. Here's what I'm getting when I click through the Tahiti/Fiji link:

We're sorry, no cruises match the criteria you selected.

Try selecting different criteria or select a different combination to find a cruise you like.

Maybe the Carnival site is not behaving (how unusual). I'll try waking the PVP up again although she is normally right on top of everything. IIRC we had the same problem last year for the Legend TA, by the time we finally found it on the website people had been booking it for at least a week, and I was checking every day.

Check passengers, destination, date and ship only....I just pulled it up

i am a solo, so those are prices for 1, but it should be close for 2

  7. I know the TP is listed under Tahiti-Fiji...saw it this morning, even though many of us booked yesterday. Your PVP is not correct. Both cruises can be booked.

Dennis also posted that the Panama Canal trip is listed on the website.

And there are already Roll Calls for both legs.

  8. Donna,

I cruise solo, and was on the Spirit last year to Oz. I sprung for a balcony and the final price went down 1000k by sail date. I had $600 OBC on this leg alone.

I won't do a balcony this time, but will probably do a 4K..I figure when a couple sails, it still comes out of the same pocket, but they pay tips, excursions, and everything else for 2, so paying the cabin alone for double doesn't bother me to much. My total bill still ends up being a lot less than most couples. LOL

  9. It is RT from Long Beach. 14 fun filled days and nights. Ensenada is used as Distant port for 3/4 days to LB.

I think the poster I was referring to, mentioned a leg from Long Beach to Hawaii, when the Legend moves to Australia.

    ShotoJuku,

The Legend could legally go from Tampa to Hawaii, because of the distant foreign port stops, but I'm not sure it will.

    Dianne,

The PVSA is the passenger part of the Jones Act, which is cargo. It's a really old law, but basically protected US trade ships from foreign flagged ships trading between US cities and taking away revenue...Airlines have the same typses of rules. You won't see airlines like Qantas, British, etc. flying only between US cities.

  10. The Hawaii to Sydney leg on the Spirit was 17 days.

Listed as 17, but actually 16 since we lost a day crossing International Date Line.

I'm going to throw my guess in and say Tampa to LA area (or San Diego), then Westcoast port to Sydney, with a couple of stops in Hawaii.

I'm in Vegas right now, and keep checking daily for news.

  11. They are STILL holding up posting these cruises for some reason that nobody knows....Dennis

    Dennis,

By the time they post the Australia itinerary, I hope Early Saver will still be in effect..LOL

Hi Dianne...hope to see you again on the Australia leg.

For those of you wanting to take the Legend through the Panama Canal, it is a great trip. Several of us cruised the Elation from San Diego to Mobile in 2010. I won't be flying to the Eastcoast to do it again, but it's definitely worth it for those that have never done it before.

  12. The dates would not show up on the normal booking site. As with the Spirit, the Legend becomes part of Carnival Australia and cannot be booked through Carnival as we know it.

The Legend will be able to be booked through the regular Carnival sight until it actually starts sailing from Sydney. That's how it was on the Spirit also.

Once the ship starts it's sailings from Australia, then it has to be booked via Carnival/Au, but not until then.

  13. All the nitty gritty details about the Legend heading off to Australia, I hope. TA is ready and has booking instructions so I'm crossing my fingers that this is going to be good.

    Hi Ralph,

I sure hope something is announced tody, though I'm not holding my breath.

You know that several of us have been waiting for this day to come.

We should have a pretty big reunion group heading to Australia again!!! YAY!!!

    Debbie

  14. The itinerary for the Legend is supposed to come out on May 28. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I was on a B2B2B on the Spirit last year to Sydney. It was a fantastic cruise, albeit, 35 days was a bit long for me on the ship. I am planning on taking the Legend over there next year, but will only do the leg to Australia, so I can see more of Australia this time.

I have an airline card that I use for everything, and pay off each month. I had enough miles for coach on Qantas last year (partnered with Alaska Air), but I bought up, so I could fly business class. I will do that again. The ticket still cost me about $850, but definitely worth it. Business class was amazing. I still have over a year to build up some more miles.

  15. Debbie, are you up for a re-union cruise no matter what the itinerary is? If the Legend goes to the Mediterrean for the summer, it might go to Australia via the Suez Canal. So looking forward to it, no matter the itinerary.

Yes Mary, I would be up for that...at least I can still use my remaining deposit from my canceled SA cruises. A chance to cruise the Med.

Better start saving up those airmiles!!!

I should be ready to cruise again, since it will be 2 years.

  16. Stupid question...but guessing they will do a trans-canal and stop in LA? And then from LA to Australia?

Last year on the Spirit, it came from Alaska, then Hawaii, then to Australia.

If it does come through the canal, I bet there would be a Hawaii sailing, and then Australia.

I boarded the Spirit in Seattle last year, and 35 days was a bit to much for me. I'm looking at just doing the Australia leg this time and spending more time in Australia.

Several people on the Spirit, said they would go again if another shipped was moved. Looking forward to the reunion.

  17. Golfadj,

Someone on our Roll Call in Sept. arranged Germaine's luau in Honolulu and it is $59pp and includes 3 drink coupons...I haven't looked into the different luau locations, but it seemed reasonable to me.

Myself and friends have rented a car in Hilo, first day of Maui (doing Road to Hana), and Kuaui...that is always an option also. There are several driving tours on the internet, but we are definitely doing VNP from Hilo. I still need to do some research on Kuaui.

I can report back once I get back in late October from Australia.

LHP...one day we will meet up. Missed you in Grand Cayman when I was with Ann and Gale on Elation Panama Canal in 2010, and missed you on this one, when I switched cruises...LOL!
