  1. Just heard from my friend onboard that they're fogged in until tomorrow. She had sent pics from her balcony of cloudiness but no fog earlier, and they had the muster drill a little late, but they had no idea that the weather was deteriorating to prevent the ship from sailing until recently.

  2. I don't see you having any problem taking your laptop. I'm sure MANY others will be doing the same. We have not done the cruise tour BUT have taken the same Princess train as our transfer back to Anchorage a few times. As others have said, the space is tight, but we have both brought a personal item (me- gigantic purse hubby- laptop backpack) and a carry-on (me- tote bag hubby- liquor box) and have been able to make it work. Yes, we have to put some bags on the table, and yes, we had a bag between us on the booth seat, but it worked. Happy travels! Alaska is gorgeous!

  3. Venice is banning all ships over 100,000 tons in 2015, which rules out all of Princess's Grand/Royal class vessels. Princess has had 2 ships in the Med for the last few seasons, but will no longer be able to include Venice with these ships. I have heard from internal sources, that Princess is looking at several options. Being studied: Send the Ruby and Emerald to Alaska in 2015 an place the Coral and Island in the Med, with Royal/Regal in the Baltic. Another is to swap 2 Grand class with 2 Sun class for Med deployments. Or, use a different nearby port and transfer by coach all Venice bound passengers using Athens for turn a rounds. It will interesting to see how it all boils down!

Would LOVE to have the Ruby and Emerald come to Alaska!! Bring them, and we'll sail them, Princess! :D

As for Venice, it's disappointing as someone who would like to someday do a Med cruise and highly prefers the Grand class ships.

  4. Technically, it's possible, but I would not recommend it based on my own experience. My husband and I routinely do the 1 way Voyage of the Glaciers cruise from Vancouver and highly recommend it.

The first time, we flew into Seattle and took the Princess coach to Vancouver. We arrived early but were placed on the second to last coach. After waiting hours, we boarded and had a smooth drive to the border. Unfortunately, that's when everything went wrong. The coach broke down, we had to be rescued by the last coach, and we almost missed the cruise. The driver kept updating us and realistically told us we may not make it because the ship has to leave at the right time for the tide. We literally ran to check in, missed muster, but made it aboard right before sailing. We vowed never to do that again!

Since then, we fly into Vancouver the day before, and it's EASY! We have a relaxing day in Vancouver, stay at the luxurious Pan Pacific or Fairmont Waterfront (both right at the port), and board the cruise the next day without stress.

    Happy cruising!

  5. I personally enjoy and appreciate it! I know I'm in the minority, though. The travel agent promotional Cruise Night Coupon Book is the best one because of the BOGO Slot Tournament coupon. I find plenty to use in the regular coupon book, too. It's fine with me, though, if no one else uses it because then my chances of winning the drawing will increase! ;)

  6. Truly a cruise from hell! Toilet problems and being moved to a stateroom with blood are NOT acceptable to me at all! I'd be horrified if they tried to put me in a room like that. Who knows what happened in there to cause it to become vacant and in such a wrecked state?!

I'm SO relieved to read that Princess rectified the situation in a way you're satisfied with, and you can now focus on having fun again!

Have a wonderful rest of the cruise!

  7. Thank you so much! Have you gone on Celebrity yet? Doesn't look like it according to your signature :)

No, we pretty much exclusively sail Princess. I'm Elite, so we get great perks, and we like the consistent quality of Princess. Celebrity's a great cruise line, though! I hope you're going to blog your next cruise, but at the same time, I know it's your honeymoon, so I totally understand hubby time!

  8. Maybe I'm strange, or maybe I went to the wrong restaurants while visiting MA, ME, & RI, but I actually preferred the lobster on Princess. My mother-in-law is a lobster freak and is from the east coast. She enjoys fresh Maine lobster and Princess lobster (origin-unknown). Both of us did have to admit on our last cruise, though, that the prawns were tastier than the lobster. Can't wait to do a taste comparison in 34 days! :D
