  1. I'm not going to argue if I should tip or not, I do.

We did a Carnival cruise out of Miami a month ago and didn't feel much pressure at all from our porter.

We did Uber from our hotel and a porter met us at the car and was actually quite kind. He asked if we had been to this port before and we had not. So he took a couple of minutes to explain the layout of the building, what paperwork to make sure we had handy and so on. It was nice.

  2. First, we have never had a butler ON A CRUISE. We have had several at resorts. There is an art and science to getting the best experience. We learned (as others have mentioned) to set the tone and expectations right away. If they can't do that, they are not worth a good/great score/tip.

For most it is human nature not to be 'that demanding person'. I can tell you from experience that they prefer you to tell them your expectations right away so they don't have to guess.

  3. After 20 years of cruising, this issue is kind of like 'the song that never ends'. Certainly I would love a fix and I agree it really comes down to having chair guards from the cruise company.

But before we get that! I want bathroom guards who make sure everyone washes their hands. I just don't get the thinking that it is okay. To me, this is the purest form of selfishness.

  4. From my experience on Princess he should have a ball.

Food for thought, I have been in the service industry myself and I was thinking that we are only hearing one side of the story. I am not saying he hasn't been justified in many of his complaints, just that some times things just can't be helped or appear to be something they are not.

    Love these updates, thank you.

  5. Thank you for the update, a nice way to start the day.

I am 45 and age has never been an issue for me, except for the mile stone moments of being old enough to drive and being old enough to buy a beer legally, which was 18 for me. Although I must admit that I was buying well before 18. :)

I had a funny moment with my wife this week (who is two years older than me), I made the comment that after our birthdays this year it will only be a year for her and two for me for the big 50. She looked at me strange and said how old are you? I said I am 47. She said, no Mike I'm 47 you are only 45.

We had a good laugh over that one.

So now I have been telling several people at my new job that I was 47 and they are going to be surprised that I actually found the fountain of youth and went back two years.

I have met way too many cool people in my life that were at an age most figured that the highlight of their life was watching the price is right. But they all lived life with a true love for LIVING.

I truly believe you are what you think about. Think and be as positive as you can.
