  1. We had a med cruise booked for mid March. I called the week before (the day the dept. Of state said not to travel to italy) it was announced to be officially cancelled and had our TA ask to move our cruise to a later date (I read people here and on fb were successful moving their cruise with no penalty) msc let us move the cruise to October med and said they would transfer the money within 3 days. In June I would have to pay the difference at final payment. 3 days later I had a full refund in my bank account 🙃. I know I am very fortunate in this situation. Now fighting with swiss airlines is a different story. They have yet to refund me from march when they cancelled our flighrs and says they have no idea when they can 🙁
  2. update on my situation. My TA called MSC today and they still are waiting for accounting to move my money over to the new booking (since tuesday). They said their accounting is backed up.
  3. Oh wow. Pls keep us updated on how this turns out. Ill report back tomorrow about what msc says about our cruise.
  4. Wow. My agent is off today but she cancelled and rebooked ours on tuesday after msc told thrir agency we could cancel and rebook. Yesterday she said she was still waiting for msc to transfer the money (msc said it takes 48 hours) now im super nervous. You need to fight this.
  5. Wait....whattt? This happened today?
  6. the travel agency i used said i could. it's def. a grey area though and is why im asking. I figured it put it out there since there may be alot of people in my position.
  7. I was able to cancel our march cruise and the cruise line applied what i had paid for the march cruise to the new booking. I still owe a little more money now by the PIF date this summer. We had bought some cheap trip insurance on the old cruise that didnt include much. I need better insurance for our October Cruise. Will I now be eligible to buy insurance in the next 14 days that has "cancel for any reason" since its a new booking? I am confused because it says you can add "cancel for any reason" within 14 days of deposit. Does this count even though the cruiseline is moving money over from a cancelled cruise? I'm not paying anything right now out of pocket until the PIF date.
  8. We moved our grandiosa march cruise to october on an older ship (seaview) for more money than what I paid for grandiosa. Same cabin category. Not happy at all about this..but certainly not MSC's fault. Now I have to hope no hurricanes will come near my home at that time.
  9. can only speak for my situation but it has to be a cruise same price or higher. hope that helps
  10. is this because its an italian owned cruise line??
  11. They got back to me in an email. I can rebook a cruise within 12mos of this one at no penalty..just need to pay any differences. Sucks though is the cabin category i got cost more in future cruises.
  12. i booked with a big online cruise travel agency - i have to go thru them. i asked them to call and get my options. they will get back to me in 24-48 hours.horrible.
  13. i called our travel insurance company and we are still covered under a travel alert.
  14. oh wow US CDC is now level 3 - i guess i'm going to have to call the big online travel agency we booked from to see about what we can do - or can i call directly to msc? supposed to sail in 2 weeks
  15. everything im reading from people on the ship now - its business and usual and ZERO issues. go and enjoy and wash your hands ALOT. I'm feeling alot better about it.
  16. i didn't know that - never saw that option. I stand corrected.
  17. We sail in two weeks out of Rome (civita) and we have 2 school age kids. Watching all the updates and trying my best to keep all of us healthy with vitamin c, elderberry, frequent hand washing and sanitizer. We decided we will NOT cancel unless we are forced to by MSC or the airline. The only port i forsee may deny a ship is Malta. However the Worst case scenario for us is quarantine as we have jobs and school to get back to. In regards to msc or gov officials quarantining a med cruise - i'm not sure what good that would even do anyone since the cruise embarks and disembarks new passengers at every port (except malta). the good news is no big news or big changes today out of italy in regards to coronavirus.
  18. we sail the week after you. for now we are just watching the news unfold but plan on going and hoping for the best.We arent cancelling unless MSC cancels us.
  19. We stayed in a YC room right under the YC pool deck on seaside and we never heard a noise. And we are fairly light sleepers.
  20. atleast in the usa rapid influenza test are found everywhere. most urgent cares, doctors, and even the smaller clinics have them. its just a nasal swab - results are known within minutes (10-15?) i would expect all cruise ships would have it too.
  21. WOW that's a shame. not docking hurts the Jamaican people who were surely looking forward to having the cruise ship passengers spending their money there!
  22. would like to add barcelona to the coronavirus list - news an hour ago has a confirmed case there - they had visited milan italy last week.
