Looking forward to your review! We’re in this same ship with the same itinerary in April.
Safe travels!

I can't wait to do this! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

We did this last year and enjoyed it, although we did have a bit of a hiccup that was subsequently resolved satisfactorily.
Thanks for the info! You found the walk do-able from water tax drop off point to South Point Park Pier? I'm off to map all this stuff, but I do like the thought of round trip on the water taxi.

If you want to go to South Beach, there are much cheaper, convenient ways to do this other than the water taxi.
The route is a very long way to get to South Beach and it drops you off at the Miami Beach Marina which isn't close to anything in South Beach but Montys and Smith & Wollensky. You'll still have to Uber to get to Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, Espanola Way, etc.
The Miami Water Taxi has some great stops on the Miami River but otherwise, not so much.
I would just Uber to South Beach and spend that money on mojitos at The Delano.
Or spend the day on the water taxi.
Perfect, thank you!

Thanks, but I wasn’t asking about the schedule, I was asking if anyone had experience using them.

Great review! Sorry to hear you guys got sick, but sounds like an amazing time up til then.

Has anyone taken the water taxi in Miami? I'm planning on it! I'm staying across the street from Bayside and want to go to South Beach and walk around.

Just pour a glass in your room and bring it with you. Want more than one glass? I've been known to load up a non see through Carnival souvenir cup with wine. Plenty of wine and it stays cold! I'm not snooty enough to care that it's not in a wine glass, but that's just me.

Thanks for posting that link, amyotravel. I see he's currently on the Liberty, but will be on to a different ship by 1/20 and the current CD on the Victory will be off on 1/10 . . . maybe we'll get him!

Just curious about this. I'm cruising on the Victory in January and would like to know if Donkey (I can't remember his real name) will be my CD. He was the assistant CD on my second cruise (which was actually on the Victory in 2013) and the CD on my last cruise on the Liberty in 2018. Such high energy and so much fun!

I would love to try a solo cruise one day. It would likely be on a 4 days or less cruise though.
This is 4-day; just need to look out at the beautiful ocean, have my feet in the sand and the sun on my face.

Sounds like a perfect day!

Hi, I’m a woman cruising solo and I used Resort for a Day to book an all-inclusive at El Cid La Ceiba Beach, which (they say) is a 5-minute walk from the port.
I don’t know anyone who has been there, but it looked good to me. It was $65 for the day; I will tip a bit with every drink order.

We've done a bunch of the excursions Carnival has offered since first going there in 2002 aboard the Celebration. Now we do our own thing.
Passion Island = beautiful, longer commute, lesser time at the beach and waited in line for food. Been there once, won't go back.
Playa Mia = the best choice in my opinion for those with younger kids that want a water park and the beauty of the beach.
Mr. Sanchos = a party, and a big one. Lots to do, swim out inflatables and chairs crowded together. If I were under 40 I'd go there every time.
Nachi Cocom = our go to place for the past decade. It's all-inclusive, the food and drinks are great, you order off the menu and even on New Years Eve it wasn't crowded.
The vendors that offer deep water snorkeling, parasailing, banana boats and jet skis work all the beach resorts along this side of the island and we've had a blast.
Chankanaab (sp) spectacular. We've experienced the dolphin swim here and enjoyed a couple of visits after. The wade out to the snorkeling is over rocks in some areas and a little treacherous.
Segway Tour = perhaps the most boring one we've ever experienced. We rode one way along side the road to a beach, had one drink and then rode back. I'm done.Jeep and Tequila = oh boy, driving in Mexico, alcohol and two lane roads, what could go wrong? We liked it, but our tour guide trashed the other brands of tequila that weren't part of our stops.
Catamaran Trip = good time, lots of alcohol and music at 97.9% distortion.Xcaret = amazing place, limited time there and the potential for a rough ride across the bay on the ferry coming back. Trust me, don't go inside and sit down. I fish Galveston bay a lot, and I get people up in the breeze and they are better.
The Ruins = go see them. We have, and it was a great cultural experience.Mayan Ruins Ball Game and Lunch = OK. It was too cold to swim so we went. Won't go back.
Atlantis Submarine = we sent my parents years ago and they loved it.
Beach Buggy, Off Road whatever = we've done three or four of these and they are all the same. You ride at a slower speed in a single-file line and there is always that "one guy" that acts like a fool. We got stopped as a group because he spun the wheels in his Jeep in the streets of Cozumel. I'm good...
Food Tours = we live along the Texas coast, Tex-Mex is the order of the day, and we eat enough to feed a family in a developing country for a few weeks. Eating big on an excursion doesn't interest my wife and I.
The attached images are from Nachi Cocom and Mr. Sanchos.See you at Nachi Cocom in a few weeks.
.
Thanks for such a comprehensive list! Your pictures are making me drool. 😂

I tend to be an introvert, so I'm not sure I'll actually meet any new people. I have YTD; I'm not sure if I'll eat in the MDR or just go to the buffet. I know I should make myself get dressed up and go to the MDR. One thing is for sure, since I booked an inside cabin I will NOT be spending all my time in my cabin, because that would just be too depressing. LOL.

Did they charge you double as a solo traveler ?

Yes, it was 2x the fare; I chose an inside on the Lido (my favorite place to be) - Lido was $1.00/pp per day, which was fine by me!

I'm so excited to have to just booked my first solo cruise! This will be my 6th cruise (5th on Carnival). Just a nice short winter getaway in January - 4 days on the Victory, going to Key West and Cozumel. I'll admit to being a little nervous . . . 78 to go!

Our one and only San Juan experience: group of new Cruise Critic friends sailing on the Summit ate at Barrachina. The food was very good and we loved the Flamenco show. http://www.barrachina.com/
That looks amazing! Thanks.

See, I knew I wasn't alone in booking as far out as possible! Y'all are my type of people!

Folks are going to jump all over you to suggest you move this to the San Juan board.
I recommend Hotel Milano in Old San Juan because it has a lovely rooftop bar and restaurant, but there are lots of good places.
Thanks for the recommendation - that one was actually one I was considering. Yeah, I posted this on the San Juan board a day or so ago and got . . . crickets.
