  1. Can someone who has had this item served to them give a revue as to their quality and desirability?...At which dining venue did you have them?....This intrigues me as I really enjoy braised short ribs, bone-in or boneless, I like them all! Any revues of this specific menu item will be appreciated. Thank You, Rob. :D

    Awed,

If I remember, I will snap a picture and post it this week when they have it on the menu.

  2. I don't believe the 72 hr braised short ribs have ever been served at lunch. I have had them twice in the Terrace Buffet and once at the same LaReserve dinner that newbie60 was on.. The ones at LaReserve were not ok but not great.

The ones in the Terrace- also served in GDR were amazing. The chef said they were cooked sous vide at 55degrees for 72 hrs. I'm not a fan of fat and didn't see any. They were the highlight meal on our first cruise and were just as good on second cruise. I'm on the Riviera now and looking forward to having them again. So much so that if it conflicts with a specialty restaurant booking, I will cancel the specialty restaurant.

  3. I used execucar in LA recently to get to the port in LA and that was around $75. I really liked them. It looks like they operate out of Miami. I'm just a bit worried that it might be $200 plus. That a bit more then I want to pay. Thx for the suggestion.

Some people on our roll call are going from Miami port to FLL and using

Quality Limo Service. The cost is $90 which includes a $15 gratuity.

I haven't used them but you might want to check them out.

  4. ....before boarding Riviera for our first O cruise. I've posted a number of questions here leading up to this, and thanks to all who have provided helpful responses. Will be sure to post a report when we're back.

We leave on the Riviera when you get off. Take care of the ship for us and Bon Voyage.

  5. Forgot one very important thing. If you get the caviar container over a bed of ice as it's often served, make sure you get a non-metallic spoon. Metal will ruin the taste. The correct spoon is mother of pearl, but a plastic spoon would do in a pinch. Just avoid metal. (This is why you rarely see teenagers who have braces eating caviar. ;) )

Thanks for all the info. I too might try it again. I had some last year that was wonderful but on the few other occasions that I've had an opportunity to try it, the taste was awful - too salty and an unappealing fishy flavour.

  6. You may want to search the word "butler" on this site. There are plenty of suggestions.

  7. I'm looking for information on comparative sizes of two stern wraparounds on the Noordam: SC5190 and SB7142. I've been in 5190 and I know it is quite large (maybe the latest of all of these wraps). Is 7142 much smaller? If so, is the difference due to smaller stateroom or smaller balcony?

I sent the pictures of my stay in SB 7142 . You can see them on http://www.halfacts.com. Loved that balcony.

  8. Ron is right; the portions are so small he ate half of Angela's food:p

Seriously though, the portions are just the right size that you don't feel stuffed. I did a Chef's Special Dinner on HAL and the portions were larger and I did start to feel too full before the end of the meal - not that I complained:D

  9. Spouse and I have sailed twice in Cabin 6033, and there is very little obstruction because there indeed is no lifeboat there but simply a davit down the middle of the window. This davit holds a small Zodiac, which itself hangs below window level. When we had this cabin, we spent much more time in the lovely library or on the pool deck, using the cabin only to sleep, dress or shower.

    Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you. I actually found your review of that cabin. You're the reason I booked it:D I have friends traveling with me on this cruise - one in aft balcony and the other in a Penthouse so I figured I could always go to their balconies. Looking forward to see how I like the R ships in comparison to the Riviera - the only O ship I have sailed on so far.

  10. They are cute little cabins for one

My friend had one just be careful with the window you may find a crew out on the platform (depending on your cabin) ;)

Thanks. It's 6030 - on the deck plans it looks like there isn't a lifeboat beside that window.
