  1. We're sailing on the Celebrity Infinity on Sunday, September 17th from Vancouver. I'm trying to find out if there is a place on the ship to watch NFL football on Sunday morning.

Keep in mind you probably wont be on the ship before noon pacific time, so most of the early games will be winding down. The "afternoon" games (ie 3pm central) start at 1 pm pacific - if you want to watch an early game (ie noon central/10 am pacific), might want to find a sports bar in Vancouver.....

  2. Thank you so much for the reply and that helps a ton. I just had this image of my mothers country clubbers...and that is not what I am comfortable in. In fact the richest people I know drive old pickup trucks, wear Wrangler jeans and have their Gulf Stream jet on stand by....

I'm sorry but what does being rich have to do with anything? My first SS cruise was while I was still in my 30's and definitely was not wealthy then. However I enjoyed the formality of the 7 days and appreciated the fact that if you did not have on a coat and tie, you did not enter the main dining room. The maitre d was not checking your bank book, he was checking your attire. You know, a vacation/cruise is suppose to be an experience away from the daily routine. Why not step outside the box for 14 days and try something different - dress up; you might enjoy it. (& pls don't tell me you have no space for a coat & tie or nice dress in your bag). A 14 day cruise is somewhere around 0.05% of your life - go with it. But if you really don't want to dress up, great, good for you. But I wish people would stop complaining about those of us who actually like a bit of formality in our lives. You'll have your place(s) on the ship, so please leave us our place. Go, enjoy.

  3. This rule is unfair. MY little darling was potty trained AT BIRTH - we know this as before the doctor could spank his perfectly shaped bottom he asked for directions to the toilet. Of course at two weeks he was also performing Beethoven's 5th by making sucking noises on his pacifier and by two months the dear was assisting in other births and was in line for the next "most interesting man in the world". So surely my PERFECT little dear should have a place in the big pool - agree?

  4. The answer is...to not allow children under 3 years of age and toilet trained to go in the pool. This the age when most preschools will take children and the age when most children are trained. For the rare toilet savant trained at 18 months.... it's unfortunate but understandable..ie, too bad.

Or no one under 18 allowed onboard! OK.....just kidding but again the vocal minority (i.e. parents who think THEIR kids are perfect) try to change rules. Who is really "suffering" - the toddlers who won't even remember being not allowed in the pool, or the adults that don't want to swim in contaminated waters?

  5. I'm so glad that my kids older now, but I would have to agree with this. My daughter was fully trained at 18 months and not even in a pull up at night at 2. Our first cruise my son was 2 1/2 and fully trained as well. It would've been a bummer if we were told that he couldn't be in the pool because he wasn't 3....but fully trained!!

Hmmm - how do you propose the cruise line proves they are potty trained? And by the way, "yours" may be trained, but do you want them swimming with one that is not, regardless what their parents claimed?

  6. "The ’new’ dress code which will revert to the old system of a ship wide attire is to be implemented from Cruise No. 6721, which departs from FLL on October 13."

Out of curiosity, what was the "Old" code and what is the "New" code?

  7. Just off the infinity - Aqua Class which I believe are the same size as Concierge - It would have been really tight with 3 people - especially a teenager. The sofa folded out would have filled the room. Look for a room with a fold down bed. Also some unsolicited teen advice, consider an upgrade of the non-alcohol package for the teen to Premium so they can get smoothies and coffees, my sister-in-law did this on the ship and it was well worth it for her teen.

TZ - sorry to hijack this thread but just curious if you were on deck 11 on Infinity and if so, any noise from the movies on 12? How was she? Again, promise I'll never hijack a thread again :D

  8. The brands offered seem to change, but "yes" you do only pay the difference over the limit. It has been $13 per drink on our recent cruises. We had a few glasses of wine at $15 and only paid the difference +18%.

Better to ask if there is a specific brand you are looking for and somebody currently on board will probably tell you.

However it is frustrating that the package covers only $12 per drink while the majority of wines I've seen are $13 per glass. Does anyone have a recent wine list by the glass?

  9. Yes Itsally, you have noticed what has happened to SS. It's still a good line and enjoyable and their staff are the jewell in their crown, but all those shavings here and there have made it noticeably less of a product. From what I can gather from reading CC and the experience of friends on SS and other comparable lines the same thing has happened across the board. I'm afraid the accountants are in the ascendancy. It needs someone with love to be in charge. We still use SS and are looking forward to trying the Muse in May.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Thanks again for the comments. Guess it generally across the board to cut corners, cut back where possible (and even where not possible)...not only cruise lines but everywhere. Give the customer less and if once they accept it, then cut a little more. Sad.

  10. Agreed. We always book aft cabins and enjoy a little snack before retiring for the night. That aft stair/elevator bank makes for a quick trip up to OVC on M-class. On the other hand, schlepping all the way to mid-ship on S-class helps burn those calories off. :D

Also, the verandas have a half-mile overhang on M-class in the back. S-class has a foot.

Sorry - by overhang are you talking size of balcony or canopy?

  11. Hi all - has been a while since we sailed SS (2006 S.Wind) and just curious how things are now. As I remember, everyone dressed nicely during the day - as some recent threads say "country club casual". Night however was more formal. On non-formal nights most men wore suits and on formal nights tuxes. In fact as I remember, if you did not have a jacket, you were not allowed in the dining room on any night. It was "open bar" and they served Pommery Champagne if not mistaken. I'd say 50/50 mix European/Americans - most quiet and to themselves, but many would mingle if invited. Just curious if there are any long term SS cruisers that can comment regarding changes since '06 - good or bad.

    Thanks in advance

  12. Wanted to start a new thread in reference to an earlier one (Infinity Room 1130) as the previous one may have limited view to those specifically interested in that cabin. It has been reported by some readers that the A1 cabins on Infinity (deck 11) receive a great deal of noise from the movie/tv theater on deck 12 - so much so the balconies are difficult to use at night. Just curious if anyone that did not read/comment on the post mentioned above have also experienced noise from deck 12 and if so, how late at night does it continue.

    Thanks in advance

    Bob

  13. Thanks for all the replies, although obviously was hoping for better news....booked for pacific coastal and now thinking of changing cabins. Too bad as really like the location, but if you can't enjoy the balcony what's the point. Just curious - how late did the noise go on for each night?

  14. Warning the sound from the cinema on deck 12 is annoying, also at times

The noise from the film Clashes with the music in the Ocean Bar

we have been driven in doors as the verandah becomes unusable.

With the doors shut the room is quiet.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced movie "noise issues" while on Infinity deck 11 A1 cabins?

    Thanks in advance

  15. Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Yes -- just look at the deck plans. Wherever you see a little square and/or triangle, that means the stateroom has a fold out sofa bed and/or upper berth. All those staterooms have the bed by the bath. Since all staterooms on the ship alternate between bed by the bath/balcony/bath/balcony, etc. just pick out one that doesn't have bed by the bath. Wherever you find a group of cabins with no sofa beds or upper berths, go to the nearest square/triangle and count from there.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Wine-O -- any chance you know how to tell the bed locations on the Infinity A1 cabins on deck 11? None have a square or triangle unfo.......

  16. I am trying to find out if the amenities received in Concierge class such as welcome sparkling wine, fruits, daily nibbles, binoculars, tote bag, etc are also received in Aqua Class cabins. In reading Celebrity's website and talking to them via phone, it does not appear that these are provided in Aqua cabins. However several travel agents have told us that Aqua receives all the amenities of Concierge, PLUS Blu and spa benefits. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance.
