  1. We're on the Connie x-Barcelona was 9/24/22 but now 9/25/22. They are deleting Palma and reducing the cruise from 9 days to 8 days. However, their message to us is saying no action is required by us for this LONGER itinerary and the cruise is extended at no extra cost. Since when is a reduction from 9 days to 8 days an extended cruise? Who is in control of these notices? Specific to your September 24, 2022 sailing we will be reducing the itinerary by one day thereby changing our embarkation date to Sunday, September 25, 2022 which will also require us to cancel our visit to Palma De Mallorca, Spain. All other scheduled calls to France, Italy, Montenegro, and Croatia will be maintained as originally scheduled. Your disembarkation on Monday, October 3, will now occur in Ravenna, Italy. No action will be required on your part to sail on this longer itinerary. Your cruise will automatically be extended at no additional cost and you will receive an onboard credit of $50 per person. Additionally, any onboard amenities booked with your current promotion or pre-purchased via our Cruise Planner system will also be extended at no charge for your additional day of vacation
  2. Just a comment (hopefully without starting a different discussion) - another difference is the dress "code". SS is much more formal than Celebrity and regularly enforced. (Just search dress code and you'll get more than enough info, discussions, opinions, etc)
  3. Hi Randyk47 - is "test bed" a polite term for "petri dish"? 😬
  4. Jelayne - I'm sure the heads of every cruise line are directing the same thoughts towards the various/many country leaders. They are waiting for the "leaders" to tell them what/when they can start doing, but unfortunately leaders (especially in the US) are too busy contradicting each other and sending out mixed messages. Get the feeling that the travel industry as a whole will be in a state of flux for a time until a proven vaccine is not only available, but widely distributed.
  5. As a "foodie" and a lover of wine I have enjoyed this thread, so I'm sorry to sort of get back on topic but....OP mentioned their trip was in March '21. Wondering what the "local" thinking is regarding if things will be back open to foreign tourist by then. We are also booked in March and wish I had a crystal ball looking forward.....
  6. We (in Texas) were doing ok until the bars opened - the last thing young people want to do in a bar is "social distance" (just the opposite). Hopefully things will calm down by March 2021 as we have a visit that way planned. Meantime, we are camped out at home.......
  7. Is it just the RCL portion of the group? It seems Celebrity & Silversea still showing Venice as calls in 2021.....
  8. But where does it stop? You/we can isolate yourselves/ourselves only so long, no? What about the next “outbreak”? Be it a major flu issue, SARs, bird flu, etc. Do you/we become isolationist and keep boarders closed forever or at what point do you (ie we all) have to let it (whatever “it” is) run its course. I’m not looking for an answer as none of us know, but just wondering aloud how long any of us can survive in “lockdown” mode. All I know is it’s above my pay grade......
  9. A glass from your cabin to dinner? Mine never lasts that long....🤪
  10. Only out of curiosity, is there any discussion on when cruise ships will be allowed back in Australia and N.Z.? End of 2020? Feb/March 2021? Never? (JK on the last one - I hope).
  11. yeah well, right now the earth seems to be fighting back & telling us to get our (poop) together. (The problem in the US is everything gets turned into politics and a blame game). Bottom line is, I get the feeling my March 2021 cruise "down under" will be sunk.😭
  12. Cancelled mine March 9th; $800+ in refunds finally hit my c.card today. Glad that is done.
  13. Just to finalize mine; Cancelled March 30th cruise on March 9th. Received my FCC on March 28th. Finally received my credit for taxes/fees & prepaid items today, April 6th. For those still waiting, have patience as you will ultimately receive. Stay well.
  14. Be prepared to have some patience - refunds are taking up to (& beyond) 30 days./........
  15. Cancelled our cruise (sail 3/30) on March 9th. Received our FCC on March 28th. Still waiting for refund of $800+ for taxes/fees and PPD items (excursions, bev pkg upgrade etc). Was originally told 21 days, then told 30 days. Figure it'll show up at some point....
  16. Just as info, when I called X I was told 14-21 biz days for refunds. Also received an email from them but it stated 21-30 days. I cancelled March 9th and still waiting for $800+ in refunds.
  17. I cancelled mine on March 9th; just received the FCC email yesterday. Still waiting for refund of $800+ for taxes/fees, ppd excursions & bev package upgrade. I figured I'd give it to the 30 day mark and then call (if I can be patient that long).
  18. Before you apply the FCC I suggest you be careful & check with a rep or your TA. It is my understanding that once you use the FCC it is considered "used" and not refundable. IE, you apply it to your April 2021 cruise & then decide to cancel before final payment is due, the FCC portion is not refundable. As a rep told me, best to use the FCC for a final payment. You might want to double check this info, but that is what i was told by a rep. Just as info....
  19. Suggest you be careful. It is my understanding that once you use the FCC it is considered "used" and not refundable. IE, you apply it to a Dec cruise, decide to cancel before final payment is due, the FCC portion is not refundable. As a rep told me, best to use the FCC for a final payment. You might want to double check this info, but that is what i was told by X rep.
  20. I cancelled 3/9/20 (sail date 3/30) and have not YET received my credit for taxes/fees or prepaid items (excursions, bev package, etc) nor my FCC credit email. As I mentioned in a different thread, I spoke to X who said refunds are taking 14-21 days, maybe longer now with the various "lock-downs". You will receive a credit, but have patience as it (probably) will take a while.
  21. Ok I decided to call. Total wait time was only 90 seconds, and spoke to a very nice young lady. She said $ refunds are taking about 14 - 21 days, maybe slightly longer. FCC notices are also taking a bit longer due to volume, however she did confirm my FCC & refunds were being processed. She had a great attitude and was very helpful. It's easy for us to complain, so I wanted to acknowledge her "job well done".
  22. 1st time I booked directly/X (of course). I did get an email several weeks ago stating they cancelled my excursion, bev upgrade, etc but still no refund and no email re cruise. I’ll be patient - they have their hands full. Will see what this week brings.
  23. Cancelled March 9th. As of today no cc credit for taxes/fees, no cc credit for items purchased (bev pkg upgrade, excursions, speciality dining) and no FCC credit or email. Only 9 working days since cancelling so still being patient, but not sure how much longer to wait before a phone call will be made. Will give it 5 more biz days & then decide if call is needed.
  24. thanks all - Geoff & Banzaii; how are things "down under". Been a tough period between fires and now Covid. Better times ahead...........
  25. How are things in Austin? Sux about SXSW; we lost rodeo. Its strange to see no traffic around HTown.
