  1. I was just watching a menu review from each night of a 9 night Grandeur cruise (Canada & New England).  They had Escargot on the menu every night in the video.  Escargot is my favorite food on a cruise, do they really have them every night?  I am doing a 12 day (Southern Caribbean) in April, and this would absolutely make my day.  Can anyone confirm that Escargot is on the Grandeur menu every day?

I'm a late night snacker --- but we do early dining because of kids ---  It's no problem on the big ships because Sorrentos is always open for a late night slice.... and Cafe Promenade for a while too.

When we sailed on Serenade with no Promenade I was so annoyed by not having late night food.   They had solarium bistro but they served hot dogs every single night.

I'm hoping for better options when I bored Vision in a few weeks.

I am a late night snacker as well.  I will typically plan ahead on these boat and stash a sandwich or two after dinner for my late night snack.  Might work for you as well.

  4. Not sure about Royal, but we did a Halloween on Carnival this past year and it was AWESOME.  I would say 40-50% of all passengers were dressed.  There was a costume contest and things for the kids.  My sons LOVED it.  First time I have dressed for Halloween in 20 years or so.   Really fun time to be on a ship

Really!  Were you a passenger?  Did you get sick?  Were you promised a refund within two weeks that is now taking up to five?  Did you sail the ocean for five days without visiting the ports of call scheduled.  Please do not talk to me about patience!

Calm down skippy.  All refunds have been processed.  It is likely on a card that you are not checking.  Look again and slow your roll, people here were trying to help you, dont be so angry. At the end of the day you got a free cruise.....

I saw a post on FB where RCCL limits your beverages to 15 per day. Does this include everything (water, juice, etc)?

That is the Carnival rule.  It only applies to Alcoholic drinks.  Non-alcoholic drinks (water, vitamin water, powerade, milkshakes, etc) do not count to that total.

  7. I am booked on a 12 Day Grandeur cruise in April.  It has 7 Sea Days.  I am very worried we will be incredibly bored.  It is my wife and me, our two sons (4 and 1), and my parents.  Has anyone done that many sea days on Grandeur?  Will we lose our minds?  I booked this due to the ports, but didnt consider the small ship and the large number of Sea days....

we get weird looks and comments about using hand sAnitizer after touching the menu.    I get one vacation a year I wash my hands . I do everything possible to avoid people who don’t washy washy.

Remember that Hand sanitizer is not effective on Noro.  It certainly doesnt hurt, but dont rely on it to protect you.

Regarding Alchemy Bar....I read recently that Vera was on this ship as an Alchemist. We have seen her before twice on Glory and last year on Conquest  and she was the best we ever had at that bar. I am wondering if she is no longer on Conquest? Will be really sad if she is not there in December.....

Not sure.  We tried to go twice and Marko was there and was terrible both times.  VERY rude.  The other person we saw there was Theadora (sp?).

Thank you for the review, will be sailing on her Saturday for an 8 day

cruise also. Did you try the seafood shack ? And if you did, how was

it, and were the prices reasonable?

We did not try the seafood shack.  The free options were just so good we never felt the need.  From what I saw it looked like ~$14 or so for a Lobster roll.  Make sure you find Ayra at the Casino bar at night (Iguana during the day).  He is amazing.  If you remember tell him Chris, John, Ginny, and Brooke say hello!!!

  11. I am just back from an 8-night Halloween Cruise on the Conquest and wanted to give a 50,000 foot review on the trip.  I will also answer any questions I can about the trip.

Who: I took this trip with my Wife and two sons (3 and 15 months), My parents, Brother-in-law and his wife.  My wife and I and my parents are big cruisers.  It was a first cruise for BIL and his wife.

Embarkation: Very smooth.  Arrived at port at around 10:30am.  We were on board the ship before Noon.  The process for checking in was very streamlined and took no effort at all.  We did not have FTTF.

Food: The food on this trip was AMAZING.  Guy’s burgers are fantastic.  The food at Blue Iguana (juevos rancheros, tacos, taco salads, etc) was amazing.  We had all dinners in the MDR and never had a bad meal.  I was honestly blown away by the food on the ship.  I have only done one carnival cruise in the past (~8 years ago) and the food was leaps and bounds better than that trip.  I had a Filet in the MDR that was better then some I have had at Ruth Chris, I kid you not.

Entertainment: The comedians were very good.  They changed halfway through the trip, so we had 4 over the 8 days.  The 18+ shows are pure comedy.  The piano bar was a bit of a letdown.  We typically spend a lot of time here, but Eden was not the best.  We saw two shows, the 80’s shows (Very entertaining) and Flick (Ok, show.  Had some highs and some very lows).  Quest was insane.  I was actually a team captain in the past on RCCL, but this was WAY beyond even that.  There were multiple men who stripped completely naked on stage to change into woman’s underwear……if you are not offended easily this is a mind-blowing thing to witness live….

Bars:  We LOVED the staff at the Casino bar. Arya is by far the best bartender I have had the pleasure of meeting on a cruise.  The Iguana bar and Sports bar were also very good.  One HUGE disappointment….Alchemy.  We had heard such great thing, and this was WITHOUT QUESTION, the absolute worst bar on the ship.  Marko was a complete piece of trash, and we will be following up with carnival about him.  Fortunately, it is a very easy bar to avoid.

Liquor Package: Surprisingly easy to hit 15 drinks….we did so on many of the days.  Overall was well worth the price.  Having access to “free” Powerade, Rockstar, milkshakes, etc. was a HUGE bonus.  We loved it.

Kids Program: The staff here was AMAZING.  They were great with the kids and had really fun activities for them.

Pixels: The picture situation on this boat was abysmal.  They setup the photo opportunities in terrible places (blocking doors and walkways).  The staff in the shop had no idea what was going on.  Saw tons of people complaining.  We tried to talk to two different people that seem to know absolutely no English whatsoever.  When asking about packages every person gave a different answers.  This was the biggest issue on the entire trip for us as we love getting pictures on each cruise.

Debarkation: Pretty hectic.  The lines seemed to have been modified due to a VERY large number of mobility scooters on this trip.  The porters were not happy about it at all.  We found a great porter that jumped all the lines and got us out of there quickly.  Best $20 I ever spent!!

Overall: Overall this was a FANTASTIC trip.  We all had a great time and agreed that the food and staff were top notch.  My wife and I have been primarily RCCL and NCL cruisers but are already looking for our next with Carnival.  I would give this trip a 9 out of 10 overall. We can not wait to get back on a Fun Ship!!

Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you about the Conquest!!

Took about 4 days to get mine 2 weeks ago.

  13. So....sounds like there are not really shows on the Conquest.....this is very disappointing...coming from other lines that have live music, comedy, dueling piano, etc nightly I don't understand what there is to do each night now.....hoping we didn't make a mistake trying Carnival.
