I was once in the same situation. I checked my husband in on-line and he was a no-show at the pier. When I went to check in I just told them he wasn’t feeling well and wouldn’t be on the cruise. No questions asked and his taxes & port fees were refunded.
And follow the logical answer. If you’re traveling with someone who’s already checked in but has a last minute illness or accident they’re obviously not gonna show up. But you’re there so either they let you on or refund you your money if they don’t.

Haven’t been on this ship. But the easiest thing to do when picking rooms is go to a website like *****.com and pick a ship for a booking and then check the deck plans. You’ll be able to see what’s above you, below you and around you as well as seeing how close to various features on the ship.
We only stay towards the bow if we’re able to book a lido deck cabin.
The 10th deck on the Panorama is the Lido deck. But you put 8740 as your cabin number which would make it deck 8. Except there is no such number on this ship.

There's not a discount on board. On my last cruise pre COVID you could buy it the second day to save some cash. Fun fact, second day starts at midnight. Cheers counter resets at 6AM. So you can buy it at midnight and have a couple night caps that wont count for your "second" day total. We always buy it pre cruise as I am having a drink with lunch right on board but if you can wait for the second day you will save money. Plus can use OBC if you have it.
Honestly, even if after midnight you can purchase it and you just saved the cost of the first day, I don’t care about getting a couple of “free” drinks. Let it apply on my first paid day cause even if I have two, three, or four after midnight, I still got 10 or more coming the rest of the day/ night when I wake up while saving a percentage off the total cheers cost.
Now the only question is, can you still purchase it on the second day?

Thank goodness there are people that still have a hankering for Joe Farcus and his Pepto Bismol inspired look.
And of course those who are stagnant and like to look backwards and reminisce instead of looking forward and evolve with their tastes. Everybody is different and that's why some enjoy Gelato, while others will always eat plain vanilla ice cream.
Geez. Talk about a cryptic post. Can’t tell if you’re complimenting or slamming those who like the old Farcus look.
Personally, the loud look never bothered me, and although my upcoming Mardi Gras cruise might make me love the “modern” look, the old Carnival ships will always have a special place in my heart.

I was also given the amazing PMU code, and 'wasted' it on a four night Sunrise sailing. Should have realized it was one time use, though I didn't see that in the terms!
Fortunately, hubs also had the rate code in his account, so we booked a 7 night on the Mardi Gras! Had a couple of friends check their accounts, and now there are six of us going!
I'll be checking both of our accounts frequently for the foreseeable future - hopefully they just have a cool down period and we'll see rates like this again before things get back to normal!
What pray tell is the PMU code?

We like to sleep with our door open, at least until the heat and humidity has one of us get up to close it so the air conditioner will kick in.
Don’t know how comfortable I would be with an open door so close to the water line.

But once on board, all of that stress is gone and you can enjoy it like Tallnthensome is currently doing on the Panorama or Saint Greg and WhaleTailFlCruiser are doing on the Mardi Gras. I'm hoping for many cancellations on my October B2B on the MG, more room to enjoy at reduced capacity and less kids to boot.
You’re such a meanie!!
Why would you want to boot the kids?

It would be cool if this bedding made itself every morning when you have breakfast just like it does on the ship. It’s magical!! We leave and as soon as we’re gone it’s like a Disney feature film. The sheets lift up and sing and the pillow dances as the pillow cases float through the air, the towels become living creatures that then stay in a pose for us to see and all that joy and excitement leads to a happy bed waiting for us to come back and relax on!

You are not cheap. Possibly frugal like me.
The difference between cheap and frugal.
Frugal is when you think to yourself do you really need this? No problem spending but always wise in not wasting!!
Cheap is when you never pay your way, always expecting or hoping someone else will!!

This is only a guess. Have no idea how Carnival works this way. But, it MAY work like this. Having used to live in Las Vegas playing at the local bars. We would get free play. Let’s say if we have $20 free play, we could not cash out until that twenty is played. (Well you could but the money would still be in the machine). Now, if after that twenty is played and we have a balance we could then cash out if you wanted and get cash.
Another way around it is what we used to do.Based on a couple of trips with semi average gambling we started getting offers for free slot play at the Peppermill in Reno Nevada.
One time it was $200 but usually around $60 to $100. We would play the entire amount but cash out any winnings as we played. A cherry might give us .60c or maybe we hit something for ten bucks. Regardless of the amount, we would always cash out everything no matter how big or small. On average we would pocket about 60% of whatever the offer was and use it for a dinner or two. One time we even hit $1,200. Cashed that out as well instead of trying to “reinvest” it hoping for more.
I have to imagine you can do the same with your OBC

Trying to find out if boarding day counts as one of the three?
I wouldn’t try to get the test early in the morning of boarding day cause there might be a delay getting the results

In California all vaccinations are inputted into a State data bank.
All you need to do is go to
myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov
You’ll be asked a few question verifying who you are and then prompted to create a pin. Then you can take a screen shot of the vaccination record and it is accepted everywhere in this country.

Well I'll be darned. This is almost a mutual admiration society. First I've seen so many people being nice to everybody else in 18 months. Please let it continue!
It’s been about 4 years since our last cruise.
I’m hoping I can go in a hot tub (Mardi Gras 10/16 cruise) and have pleasant conversations with complete strangers without anyone getting political or mean spirited in any way.
I’m a moderate Democrat who had an interesting give and take conversation in the pool on a ship with a former Secret Service agent and his wife and another couple from Kentucky all of whom were very conservative in their outlook in life and the political landscape.
But through all the banter there was lots of laughter and buying each other drinks. And always warm smiles and pleasant hellos when we would run into each other throughout the cruise.
I miss those days. Why can’t we remember the beauty of this great country is all the diversity and all the differing opinions and lifestyles.
And most of all why can’t we remember that there really is no us vs. them!!
People need to lighten up and just enjoy life again.- 3

10:30 to 11:00
Thanks. I was just wondering cause I kept on my daughter and her boyfriend to check in at exactly 12 eastern time for their August 14 Mardi Gras voyage. Guess it really is first come first serve cause they got the 10:30 boarding slot. Man, that gives them almost a whole extra day on board not to mention first dibs on specialty restaurants and stuff for their 600 obc.
I’m gonna do the same for my wife and myself when our October Mardi Gras cruise opens for check in.
Lets keep this little secret to ourselves my CC brothers and sisters!!!

Just curious what is the earliest boarding time on most ships (when everything is going on schedule)

Would it not work on the floor?
You obviously don’t use a C-Pap so it’s understandable your thinking that putting it on the floor is good solution.
Unfortunately air is sucked in through the vents and most of us would be kinda grossed out thinking what is getting sucked out of the carpet and into the machine.
There is also the tube issue. I sleep on my side. Both sides. And if I’m facing away from the machine the tube goes across my face/head. If the tube flows downward instead of laterally to a table somewhat equal to the height of the bed it would be extremely uncomfortable.
Mardi Gras appears to be a fantastic, beautiful ship with very well thought out touches throughout. But they dropped the ball on this!!

Well guess what! John Heald got it backwards and just posted a correction video! This is the SMOKING side (facing the lifeboats) and the larger side facing the water is non-smoking.
So now we get the bitching from the smokers about the view!!

In both pictures you are actually playing with your back to the views. The dealer gets a nice view though.
Like Tom said above, most people playing a table game aren't paying any attention to the view from the table.
Not only that but I’d wager most of the action is in the evening when there aren’t any views anyway!!
-
Looking at John Healds videos leaves me wondering also why there’s no outlet and table next to the bed. I would venture a guess that in this day and age at least 10% or more of the older passengers use a C-Pap

I will be on her for the event on the 30th. If people have something specific they want to see, let me know and I will try to get pics.
If you could get pictures of the extended balconies on the “hump” cabins ( for example 10350/10354 I would appreciate it.

Not only that but most c-paps have the option to go without water.
Regardless, luckily for me I still have my old c-pap that works just fine and doesn’t use water at all. So whenever I travel that’s the one I bring.

Had not heard that one before. Interesting, thanks! Still, how does it work? In the carryon, they will see it in the scanner, and in the checked bags, won't they just hold them longer on board before delivering to your room?
They tend to not pay attention to the scanner when they’re rushing the last groups coming on. I only know from experiences twice as we were some of the last boarding. Of course there’s no guarantee, but the worst that will happen is they take it and hold it till the end of the cruise when you can then get it back.

I try to tell her that but she's having none of it! She's earned her "old" as far as she's concerned. One look at her and you'd argue that she is firmly middle aged though.
Anyway, I logged in last night to check her in and was only able to get a 12pm check in time. Unforuntately, when I booked her into that spot it reverted all of us to 12pm. AARRGGHH. My original boarding passes (which I saved) say 10:30am. My cousins checked in and got 11:30 on theirs. Those of us in suites have "priority" printed on our passes, mom has D02
Since we are all staying at the Hyatt at the airport and shuttling over together we'll just get there together, probabaly shooting for 11:00 - 11:30 and see what happens. If they let us on early they let us on early, if they don't they don't. I'm not going to worry about any of this because....
IN FOURTEEN DAYS I WILL BE ON A SHIP!!!
and an hour one either side won't change that fact.
What a refreshing full of life person you are!
I hope you’re all able to get on early (the saved screen shot should help), but if not at least you’re able to keep it all in perspective instead of most people these days who make the biggest deals about such petty stuff.
Another hour of your life waiting your turn to get on such a beautiful ship is pretty low in the pecking order of life changing problems!!
4 hours ago, KmomChicago said:I don't usually think this way, but for this cruise we are all considering choosing the LAST arrival time and just sauntering onboard well after the cabins are made available. We'll be at my dad's place relatively nearby in Florida the night before so we don't have to be on any particular schedule and I see little reason to hustle and possibly deal with who-knows-what shenanigans and crowd management issues.
If you want to “smuggle” a little, ahem, adult beverages, being one of the last helps. There comes a point where they’re trying to close the doors and they tend to relax a little on their search for alcohol.
