  1. The trip is amazing, but you might want to be aware that weather can comeinto play. We had a seriously rough go (multiple people got sick as it was quite bumpy) to the point they (the tour operator) admitted lying to us that it would be easier going back as there were concerns that some would not get back on the boat to go home! Hopefully you have a smooth trip but I would make sure to plan for the worst. one poor guy on our trip was very green hours after we returned and my back was seriously unhappyfrom the impact of waves that felt like we were running into a building. If you plan to do both, I would do the railroad first, as if you hit a bad day you may find the rest if the day difficult &it would be a shame to miss the 2d excursion.

  2. Kids at ages 5 and 8 would enjoy Disney much more than X. Yes, there is the arcade and Kids Club but overall, the all day experience of being around kid oriented entertainment centered around Disney characters would most likely be more fun for them.

Remember also the demographics of the other passengers. The passengers on Disney know there will be lots of children. On Celebrity there are passengers who do not want children running amok. You have to know your children and how they would be in a mostly adult setting. We first took our daughter on Celebrity at age 8 and she loved it and enjoyed the new foods in the dining room. None of that kids menu stuff like chicken nuggets or spaghetti for her. Bring on the escargot, Oysters Rockefeller, and filet mignon!

My 10 yr old would vote for X over DCL. He much preferred X to DCL. He was able experience them back to back last year. He tells me the activities were better planned and executed on X. DCL has a beautiful kid space but found much of the time was simply keeping them in the room to entertain themselves. He much preferred the active planning and participation of the X kids staff.

Also, passengers on X should be aware that at times the "kids running amok" is them participating in scavenger hunts etc. Unlike DCL that keeps them on the kid facility there are activities that move them around to different locations.

  3. When we were there in 2007, they greeted us off the tender and gave us a Hoonah company coin and a piece of cedar to place in the community fire. The fire was tended to by some elders near the end of the Zipline.

    Are they still doing that?

Also, ISP had the best prices. My Ulu was cheaper by a third. Is this still the case?

Does the school still have the shop in the old cannery?

    TIA.

Just booked the Carnival 14 day out of Long Beach. Excited to be going back to ISP.

No coin on ours mid-August, but the fire was there with cedar to add with a wish. The school still has a shop in the Cannery and I found the prices to be quite reasonable. We had an opportunity to talk with one of the residents while waiting in line for the Zipline about ISP. He was very proud of the fact that it is a private stop and there are no cruise line interests. As he said "no Diamonds Int'l here!" I really enjoyed the port and would LOVE to go back and do the Ziprider again.....

  4. I asked about booking one fro my next trip and was informed that they were only for parties of 5. When I attempted to clarify that there might be additional cost for a family of three to book them I was clearly told that I could not book them unless we were a party of 5. I know I've seen posts that suggest smaller groups have been able to book them, so YMMV.

  5. The title says it all. We are currently book on the Infinity, but could switch based on the kid's programming. DS is an only child and loves to be around other kids but also enjoys one:one attention.

Our only cruising experience has been Disney, and we know neither will be the same, we just want to make sure he has a great time too. I greatly appreciate ANY input you might be able to offer.....

    Thanks in advance.
