Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This right here. The little taste of pizza that I had on board wasn't good, no way in hell would I pay extra for that. My kids loved it, but they aren't a pizza snob like me and would probably eat cardboard with sauce and cheese on it if they could (until you revealed what it is) so there's that. I think it goes beyond pizza though. People are tired of being nicked and dimed while the quality continues to go down, even for the things you are nicked and dimed over. If they continue to raise prices and start adding an extra cost to things that were once included that I do care about, I will start heading back to those all inclusive resorts that I frequented many years ago. There are so many to choose from, and they are equally competing with the cruise lines to get customers through their doors.
  2. TBH from what I heard, its best to save your money. We just got off the cruise last week, and although I didn't go to the waterpark, I'm glad. I spoke with two families and they said a lot of people felt like it was a rip off. Long lines and if I'm not mistaken, they more than likely had to shut it down due to lightning in the area, though not the entire stay. Better off using the included-in-the-price waterslides on the ship. $160 per person is more than a 1 day waterpark ticket at Disney.
  3. To make a long story short, my family member will not be able to make the cruise that is leaving next week. Her husband has been notified that an organ donor has been found and they are on their way to getting this transplant. She did not think it would come up anytime soon as he has been on the list for quite some time (years). She did purchase travel insurance through the cruise line. Issue: There are two other people in her cabin. How does this work? Is it better for her to continue on as a "no-show" and get refunded from that because she is a caregiver now to someone getting an organ transplant? Should she call the cruise line to cancel her ticket and go from there? Will the other two people in the cabin be reassigned to another cabin since it is a 3 person cabin? Will it be a new pricing rate this late in the game? Again, cruise leaves literally next week! Thanks for your help!
  4. Thank you for your review! We'll be on Wonder in a few weeks. Looking forward to it for sure!
  5. We did an in person appointment for my husband, son and my daughter (My passport doesn't expire until next year). All renewals except for my daughter, it was a brand new passport for her. This was the 1st week in April. Their passports came in around the middle of June, so about 10 or so weeks. We cruise at the end of July, so it was enough time in between. I went ahead and obtained an extra birth certificate for my daughter since hers was sent in, just in case the passports didn't arrive on time. For the longest time on the website it read, "Application status: In process." I finally stopped checking, and then the passports came probably a week later after I had last checked. So when they do eventually update, it's seemingly pretty quick that they are out of the door and into the mailbox. When we come back from this cruise in a few weeks, I will send in my passport. We plan on taking another cruise same time next year, and with the delays and extended wait times, I'll go ahead and send it in when I get back since there are limitations as to travel within 6 months of your passport expiration date. Just posting in case anyone sent for their passports around the same time we did.
  6. I'm inclined to agree. We are cruising on Wonder here very soon. I have started to take a look at other lines. Hopefully it won't be my last time cruising Royal (unless my upcoming cruise is a disaster), but, I'm ready for a change.
  7. On the bright side, you'll be done with eating and hopefully be able to get good seats for the shows 🙂
  8. We tipped a little more last cruise we were on (hubby and I), but only to certain individuals. The bartender: We found a great one, knew when he would be at the bar, and we stuck with him lol. He was great, made really great conversation, told us about his family, and we related on different subjects. Plus, he took care of us as customers so we tipped him extra. He helped make our cruise that much more enjoyable. The Room Attendant: He went above and beyond in getting certain things for us and telling us great places to visit while in port. His attention to detail was great and he never missed a beat. We tipped him an extra $50. The Waitress: We had MTD but was able to have the same waitress every night. She was amazing, professional, and took great care of us as customers. I felt she went above and beyond with certain dietary requests and such, so we tipped her extra as well. We kept the "mandatory" tips, but when we tipped extra, we gave them all cash in envelopes. I'm not sure if the "mandatory" tip goes straight to them or not or how it's split, etc, but since I felt that their service went above and beyond for us, I wanted to make sure the cash went straight to them. However, don't feel compelled to tip extra just because. Like someone else stated, the tip that is already set works out for them as well, because you have to remember, you aren't the only ones tipping them. I will tip more when I feel the service warrants it, and in that particular case, it did. Mind you, the last time I cruised was pre-covid, so protocol may have changed since then.
