  1. If we keep the schools closed much longer, mothers will find a cure for the virus before scientists.

A neighbor's house got rolled with toilet paper this weekend and increased the house's value by $30,000.

We heard that some people who used to spin the toilet paper roll like they were on Wheel of Fortune, now turn it like they were trying to crack a safe.

Someone told me all I needed to go to the grocery store was a mask and gloves, but they lied: everyone else had on clothes.

A friend asked if it was okay to pull the bag out of a box of wine and stab a straw in it like a giant, adult Capri Sun.

Those who bought dryer sheets when they could not find toilet paper have found their fannies now smell like lavender, there is no more static electricity, and for the first time in 20 years, their butts are wrinkle free.

We have a lot of sympathy for all those married men who have spent years telling their wives "I'll do that when I have time."

We asked our four-year-old grandson if he knew why there was no school right now and he said "because there is no toilet paper."

If you need to find motivation to stay at home, shave your eyebrows off.

We trust all the critical people around will be generous enough to remember, when swimsuit season rolls around, that the gyms were closed during Reese's peanut butter egg and hollow milk chocolate bunny season.

Quarantine is wearing pajamas all day, showering, and changing into new pajamas.

It is actually fun to stay at home, but we wonder why one bag of rice has 7,456 grains of rice and the other one only had 7,398?

We may be about three weeks away from knowing everyone's true hair color.

  2. Why would we spend (at least) twice as much to do Oceania primarily for better food that's already been paid for. It's a personal choice that each of us makes based on our own criteria...no right or wrong.

I was responding to 39august - who commented $50pp for lobster tail.

The specialty restaurant charges really add up. There is no additional charge for any of the incredible specialty restaurants.

The cabins (we always get a PH) are impeccable, and the service is beyond comparison.

We both worked hard, retired very early (40 & 54); and now we're enjoying our lives.

Not really looking forward to our Equinox Oct cruise, but I'll make the best of it.

    Happy cruising everyone.

  3. Thanks. I thought so. As for Murano, I'd prefer not to spend $50 pp to get a lobster tail, no matter how great it is.

Try the Oceania line. All the lobster tail you would like, every evening @ the Terrace Cafe - no extra charge.

And, surf and turf sandwich @ Waves for lunch. I order Surf & Turf, no bun, no fries. Delish!

Also, no extra charge for the specialty restaurants. Go ahead, spoil yourselves.

Can't wait for Dec, and booked for Dec 2019 too.

  4. Google your cruise ship, GROUP CRUISE and the specific date. I had a nightmare that our next cruise was inadvertently taken over by people in my husband's industry....I realized on day one and was so upset knowing he was not getting a true vacation that he deserved. Yes, a nightmare for sure! Lol!!!

We're sailing on Holland America Zuiderdam in 81 days. I started a thread over a year ago; no one posted to it. When I called HAL they couldn't reply to my inquiry regarding a group overtaking the ship.

They said that even if they knew, they couldn't divulge. It's going to be a big surprise; but we have a Neptune Suite for that particular cruise, so we can hang out in our suite or take land tours at port.

On a NCL cruise there was a large gay men's group with scant bathing suits by the pool, I felt uncomfortable.

Luckily it wasn't the Chumley Bears - which happened to have a large group on our neighbors daughter Princess honeymoon cruise.

Google to see what I mean.

  5. I guess I'm going to be disappointed since quite the opposite cabin category for us. We are in an inside cabin in order to try out Oceania! Most of our past cruises we have taken balconies, but I would rather try an inside cabin and still be on this ship! My husband and I have been on over 100 cruises, including Crystal and Azamara, however the rest have been on mostly Princess, Royal Caribbean, etc. there are a couple of Cruise Lines that I have not gone on in many many years and do not plan to repeat! Unfortunately for health reasons we have not been able to sail the last couple of cruises we had planned, including one just last month on Celebrity due to the death of my best friend and our traveling companion.

How often do they have classes in there, and are they different types meaning, watercolor, oil, charcoal? I assume that they charge for the classes, any idea what they cost? I would love to partake in these classes! Truly hoping that they do not have them at 9 AM LOL

Vicki, could you please e-mail me if you have a minute? We'll be on the Oceania Riviera on Dec. 5, 2016.

    Thanks,

    Barbara :)

  6. We just received this from our TA and would like to share:

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a travel alert for destinations with active outbreaks of Zika virus, including Mexico and certain countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Zika virus is spread primarily through mosquitoes, and is not transmitted from person to person. Symptoms of Zika typically develop 2-7 days after being bitten and may include fever, headache, skin rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week.

If you are receiving this notice, then your cruise is scheduled to travel to one of the regions currently affected by Zika Virus. An up-to-date list of these regions can be found by following this link: http://www.cdc.gov/zika/geo/

There has been a recent increase in poor pregnancy outcomes among mothers who contracted Zika during pregnancy. These cases are being reported in areas where Zika virus outbreaks have occurred. Knowledge of the link between Zika and these outcomes is still developing. For this reason, the CDC Advisory particularly impacts women who are pregnant and women who are trying to become pregnant. Therefore, the following precautions are recommended:

    • Pregnant women in any trimester should consider postponing travel to the areas where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. Pregnant women who must travel to one of these areas should talk to their doctor or other healthcare professional first and strictly follow steps to avoid mosquito bites during the trip.

    • Women trying to become pregnant should consult with their healthcare professional before traveling to these areas and strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites during the trip.

More information can be found here: http://www.cdc.gov/zika/pregnancy/question-answers.html

The comfort and safety of all travelers is a high priority for Holland America, and we can assure you that they are monitoring the situation for any new developments. As this is still an evolving issue, please visit http://www.cdc.gov/zika for the most up-to-date information.

  7. Celebrity Equinox - December 11, 2015 - 10 Night Ultimate Caribbean Cruise

    1st time on Celebrity – underwhelmed. Cabin A2 – 1642 – Aqua Class

    Parking lot – no garage?

No direction – where to check in

In terminal directed to line 4. Should have been line 2 - Aqua. Mentioned to clerk, nothing done.

Given room key card, no instructions, no “map”

2 crew sanitizer squirters on the gangway causing blockage.

On board - No greeter, no direction.

Found entrance, asked to sit until cabin ready at coffee shop. Waiter asked: drink? We have the drink pkg, what is available? Told to pick up list at guest services.

Cabin ready, dropped off carry-ons, proceeded to café (Lido). Café all roped off, even though food in trays. Guess we’re too late for a bite.

Off to the muster drill. Ensemble Lounge. Watched videos –couldn’t hear - too loud; everyone talking.

Back to cabin – no facial spray, no pillow menu, what euro face towel? Also no brochure, no deck floor plan.

Connections Party – Thank you Captain for joining us.

The rest of your crew seemed unenthusiastic and didn’t join you on stage in welcoming the group – a crowd of over 150. And were those goodies for us?

Blu restaurant – overrated. Had dinner 5x on 11 ngt. Twice with friends. Rib eye? Was ¼” minute steak. 2nd time waited 45 min. Maitre’d said 20 min; couldn’t move two tables together?.. anyway, we had the lobster tail. What chef forgets to remove the membrane? Inedible.

Oceanview Café – aka Lido on other cruises. It’s help yourself, folks. Get your own silverware. Get your coffee, get your iced tea, etc. It’s DIY…Tables are not set as on other lines. Forget getting a cup of coffee or a drink. We had a cloudy day, sat at a “dirty” table, took over 40 min for staff to clear the table.

One day on our way to the Café deck 14 there was a set-up for BioFreeze. I mentioned that it’s a great product and we put it in the goodie bags, for runners, when we run marathons. An “X” employee (Ilhan), who was supposed to be working on dining reservations came over and rudely said: “You Run Marathons?” Yes, I do. Over 15 years, on the steering committee, Palm Beach; with Dave McGillivray – the race director of the Boston Marathon.

Casino – Our group had a “slot pull” – what? One waiter? The bar was totally understaffed as long as we were there for the 11 days. Need more staff. Still unbelievable that you can’t pull resources from your OBC account to play in the Casino.

Mentioned to manager @casino re:$400 OBC and 5% charge. He said go to “ Guest Relations” – no fee. Wrong!

Celebrity Today item - Dec 11 -7pm - Free Charm Collection - Desk 3 – inquired re: charms between 7-8:30??? No one there, GR was going to call. Waited 20 mins. ----------left.

Guest Relations sent us down to Future Cruises re: transferring OBC - they didn’t have the answer…

Thought we could use $400 OBC to purchase liquor as gifts. What a sparse selection! No Grand Marnier?

Persian Garden – relaxing? no lemon water – both containers – empty.

Spa – dusty, plastic flowers – hopefully it’s only a holiday thing.

Wanted blanket. Looked everywhere; then under bed. Found dirty bedsheets in a basket next to our luggage. No Blanket.

Canapes request – invited guests to our cabin, requested canapes for 4 people. Plate had “4” things.

Inconsistent room cleaning. Dirty glasses left behind, fruit not being replaced.

    Had to ask for binoculars.

Don’t mind the carpet not being vacuumed every day; but it’s what we pay for; a clean cabin.

Last day – no fruit…, even dish taken away ----in the past inconsistent fruit delivery.

Blue binder missing, all notes – can’t see what’s in refrig.

We went to dinner at Blu, to say thanks.+

OK, so we’ve packed our bags, everything is cleaned out – all drawers, etc. we have our items for tomorrows travel in the closet. Our personal items – clothes, underwear, jewelry – personal! Guess what we find? Two robes for the next people. Do we not own that rental space until we leave? That is a private place. You (room attendant) are only there to make the bed and clean the cabin. Not to invade our private place.

We wanted to have a Concierge cabin, our TA recommended the Aqua. Overpriced.

Also wanted to mention you ("X") cancelled the Celebrity Oct 17, 2016 we had booked with the 1-2-3 promo, never received the notice; received the $50 deposit.

Oh forgot to mention – thanks for the white nylon carry bag and the navy tote. The metal grommet and the tag off the navy bag broke off. Made in China.

We are considering cancelling the November 28, 2016 on the Equinox. Love Oceania and HAL.

Just one more thing - When I called "X" to mention not receiving an after cruise survey they said: they didn't have our e-mail.

Now, how did they contact us re: confirmation for the connections party? Obviously they had our e-mail.

  8. I'm looking for recommendations on a underwater camera (MP, brand and whatever else I should know). I don't want to spend a ton - probably under $100. It is mainly for when we cruise and snorkel etc.

I am a Amazon Prime member so something on there would be a plus

    Thanks

I would highly recommend The Olympus Tough TG-310. 14 Megapixel

It's shockproof and waterproof. It takes fabulous everyday photos.

Has tons of settings. It also takes amazing underwater videos without any kind of case. Great videos of stingrays in Grand Cayman.

I hope my husband buys another one for our upcoming October cruise, while we're on the ship, have some OBC's to redeem.

Just jump in the water with it and press the button.

    Barbara

  9. If you mean a full refund of the deposit, that is a given. But that still does not begin to cover the fact that we have made plans for it, researched, etc. Plus all other fall 2016 cruises have gone up in price considerably. So to switch to one of those would be costly at this point.

Celebrity is facing many, disappointed, angry, loyal cruisers who may definitely go elsewhere. No they dont care. It it always the bottom line.

This is the first time we have booked with Celebrity, and from the beginning it was a little uncomfortable; trying to join the Connections Party to promised offers not appearing on our invoice and vague answers from the main office.

Many of us go through a time consuming process of choosing a cruise, and deposit our hard earned money to expect a top notch product in return. We book early to manage the rates and don't ever expect to be thrown off to pay for a higher booking fee. If that should happen we are considering taking our 2 other "planned" cruises with Celebrity to another cruiseline.

  10. Hi

I'm trying to decide on our next trip and am stuck between the 11 night Ultimate Caribbean cruise on Equinox which goes to Grand Cayman, Cartagena Colombia, Colon Panama, Puerto Limon Costa Rica, Belize and Cozumel Mexico OR a 10 night Dutch Antilles cruise on the Infinity which goes to Key West, Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba.

I far prefer the Dutch Antilles itinerary, but have been a bit concerned when looking at reviews of the Infinity to see that it seems to get very mixed reviews from passengers - some people seem to love it but quite a few have mixed feelings or hate it, whereas the Equinox gets far better reviews. I'm worried that we might be disappointed in the ship and wonder if we should go for the itinerary that isn't as appealing to us because of this?

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Cleo99,

We also could not decide - and guess what we did - we booked both of them. :D How can you resist with the recent 123go promo (http://www.celebritycruises.com/htmlpage/123go-all-inclusive?cid=di_pgr_dimu_wvffr1_1412_spcl_mrec_us_9621#&panel1-1&panel2-1&panel3-1&panel4-1&panel5-1&panel6-1) and the $25 deposit. Sorry, don’t know how that works in the UK.

Also, being a past pax don't you automatically get “bumped up” to the next category.

    Happy Sails!

  11. I agree with all previous posts. We are sailing on the HAL Westerdam this Saturday and don't have any worries. Once we were rerouted from Western to Eastern Caribbean and another cruise we went deeper into the Atlantic because of the 25' swells.

We're not going to shrink from a little rain, and we'll burn that bridge when we come to it..

    Oh, the website: http://www.stormcarib.com

    Have great cruises everyone.

  14. We have cruised frequently in a Neptune suite and are thinking about trying an Oceania cruise. We love breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill and eat almost all our dinners there too. We love the personal attention in the Neptune lounge as well. Has anyone done both? Please compare and contrast. Which is better and why? How do the meals and restaurants compare?

    Thanks!

We also have a Neptune suite, which we love, on the Westerdam in October.

Last year we did the "Sun Splashed Isles" on the Oceania Riviera and had an A1 Concierge Veranda. At first we thought it was a little pricey, but after being on board and enjoying the surroundings, amazing restaurants and fabulous itinerary - worth every cent. This time we are booked on the "Mayan Mystique" 10 day cruise, also on the Oceania Riviera. Can't wait! You can't beat the 1250 pax and 800 crew.

Why not go to their website and order a brochure called: Oceania Cruises - "Your World, Your Way" or, why not join us? :)

If you would like to e-mail me and hopefully you'll receive the deal we did and "they" have extended the deadline.

  15. The last time we went with Godfrey Tours he picked us all up at the cruise dock, Crown Bay. Then dropped us off at Veterans Plaza, where you can do some shopping depending on what time you decided to start your day (9am,10am,11am), then he came back at noon and took us on a very informative tour of the island. Everthing depends on which tour you take with him. Highly recommended.

    Here's the link: http://godfreytoursvi.com/ Enjoy!

  16. Does anyone have any info on this tour provider? I see that they offer excursions all over the Caribbean.

We are looking for one in St Thomas. The VIP snorkel and cruise.

I have looked in the St Thomas board but could not find anything.

    Thanks

We have used Island Marketing on Grand Cayman - Buccaneer Catamaran - Swimming With the Stingrays, 3 times.

    .

Rhino Riders on St Maarten (motorized zodiacs)

    .

and recently, Tiki Beach Island Tour, on St Martin

    .

hopefully we can arrange a private catamaran for our group when we visit St Thomas in October. There will be 4 other ships in port that day, so it would be nice to find other options not on land.

    .

Island Marketing is very helpful, friendly and professional. You will not be dissapointed. Enjoy :)

    Barbara
