  1. Thanks Henry. Dropping in on your thread when I get the chance. You’ll still be cruising when I get home. So will be able to peruse it easier then. Been a great cruise in my end, so far. But, we’re on the down side of it!
  2. Ketchikan today..drizzly and gloomy. May step off the ship to nose around. Probably not do much more than that. SIDE NOTES… -played in the Hold’em Tournament last night. $80 entrance fee. Did no rebuys as I was playing at a table with a very drunk, toothless guy, who eventually knocked me out. Figured it was a sign to quit emma’s the poker gods were not with me. Still up $300+ for the trip, though! Went to chat with both the internet cafe people yesterday, too! Showed them how SLOOOWWW their Streaming, top tier internet speeds are, and how it was impossible to stream and post pics. They said what I already knew…Alaska, Mountains, etc affects the Sat signal. Off to Customer Service. Guy 2 places in front of me was declaring he wanted to remove his DSC. Customer Service guy was calm…asked why. The guy stumbled a bit…said something about the smell of the soap in the cabin should be bars not liquids and that he was tipping as he went. Customer Service made an offer to have the Steward swap out his soap, but stillgave him the form. By the time I got in front of the Customer Service rep to log MY internet complaint, I explained that if there’s less than steaming capable speeds for WiFi, they shouldn’t charge for the upgrade. No push back. He said he understood. Called the internet Cafe manager to confirm, and gave me $100 credit. Thanked him for his help and chuckled when I asked him about the guy who demanded his DSC removed. He laughed and said they took every guest complaint seriously, as he rolled his eyes. He said they get 5-6 requests per cruise to remove the DSC. That’s out of 4,000 guests. They must stand out like a sore thumb to the crew!
  3. Sorry…tough to log in last night. So, could not post. Unfortunately, posting pics is still onerous. Will post when I can get Cruise Critic to keep from dropping them. Dinner at Los Lobos…I live in Ohio. Aside from some chains and a Mom/Pop place here and there, we’re far from being able to discern what authentic Mexican food is and what it isn’t. What I do know, the food I had at Los Lobos was great. Had the beef, with a green sauce along with the table side chips and salsa. Had a “gazpacho” that was chilled. All of it was great. Don’t pass this place up. Onto see SIX. Great entertainment and performers. Liked Jersey Boys more, but I think that’s because it had more of a macho theme/vibe. Said it before….say it again…NCL OFFERS THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT AT SEA!
  4. Yeah…there were folks there who were just listening to the band!
  5. Teppanyaki was good last night. But, whether you go to Benihana on land, or Teppanyaki on NCL, the presentation’s the same. The flavors are the same ( or at least, similar)! Entertainment…the main shows they don’t allow photos. Have only seen Jersey Boys, but it was great. I’ve seen the traveling Jersey Boys and this show is the same. All are good! Six is Friday!
  6. Or, fight the throngs who are doing “couch hogging” in the Observation Lounge…headed back to my balcony….
  7. Pre-dinner (Teppanyaki) cocktails… Finally saw the officer pic…
  8. I think what we’re saying is the Dailies probably won’t do you much good as there are lots of changes happening from this cruise to your cruise. And, internet has been problematic and pictures take an inordinate time to load. So, given how onerous it is to post pics, I won’t be posting any more dailies!
  9. They keep bringing snacks. I appreciate the gesture, but am running out of room….
  10. Not familiar with it. I’ll look when I go for a nightcap tonite at my hangout….Observation Lounge!
  11. Not sure what beers are on which ship. I drink Stella Artois. I’ve not even seen a beer list. So, I know they have Stella. My friend @ChiefMateJRK drinks Guinness, so they have that, too!
  12. Thanks @ggTexasGal. I’m having issues posting pics. If things get better later in the week I will have dailies. But, just a quick point, entertainment is shifting….sometimes by the day. So, what is going on with this week’s cruise probably will have little relevance to next week’s cruise! As an example. Jersey Boys and SIX cast and support team are turning over at the end of this week. There is bound to be some teething issues with the transition that will affect scheduling and personnel!
  13. Just returned from the White Pass Train Excursion. Pics to follow, but in a word, stunning! The final 6 miles of tracks up through the pass are still snow covered. So, the last little bit of the train ride is unavailable. From our vantage point, you could see it was quite snowy still. So understandable! I’ll see if I can post pics. Back on board for lunch, but will head back into the town a little later!
  14. Let me amend my post about walking along the pier into Skagway. This a.m. (7:30) when escorted off the ship, the shuttles weren’t running yet. So, I just strolled downtown unobstructed. On the way back after the White Pass train excursion, they steered us to shuttles back to the ship. So, Chief is right. But, you disembark early enough, no one is around to keep you from hoofing it into town!
  15. ⅓-½ mile from pier into town. And yes…you can walk along the pier into Skagway! That’s what I did!
  16. Temps in Skagway are around 35-40F. Sun is peaking in and out! No rain in sight!
