I just found that thread also...
To quote The Cranberries: "If everyone else is doing it, why can't we"

Okay, we are a little confused. We are sailing on Niew Statendam in about two weeks. We just received an email from HA stating that we get to board at 2:30.
Ummm, that's awfully late for lunch, especially that we have early dining.... Is this normal? We are used to being boarded much closer to noon...

On the Dutch Cafe menu, I didn't see hot Chocolate. Do they not serve it, or am I being blind again?

This ship has 'SOLO' cabins for one.
I think they have Solo Ocean View.
Have you considered this type of cabin?
I looked at the solo cabins for my upcoming cruise. Since they had an ocean view, they were more expensive than a normal interior. And if I remember correctly they have a smaller footprint. Plus they were on a lower deck all the way forward.

We are receiving some of these beverage cards for our cruise via AAA. What are we allowed to use them for? None of us drink alcohol... I'm guessing Hot Chocolate twice a day from The Dutch Cafe?????
Is there a list somewhere as to what is allowed?

I assume that they dim the lights for the movies. Has anyone looked up to see the stars? Can you see stars? I tried to stargaze on other cruises, but there was always to many lights on the ship...

Thanks for the Breakfast menu. For a second there I thought everything came with eggs... Yes, I am one of those weird people who do not like eggs....

While you are taking photos, can you take one of your cabin bathroom? There has been many discussions on the placement of the toilet and the shower...

And as far as the libraries, how many people here are either bringing books already, or an iPad/Android tablet/Nook with books loaded on them? I am...

Thanks. Most of the threads I saw were flying into FL and cruising from Miami. I assumed they were roughly the same, but wanted to make sure...

We are cruising out/in Fort Lauderdale. However the flights home are looking pretty bad. How long and how much to go from FL cruise terminal to Miami Airport? There will be 5 adults with luggage, so I am guessing we will either need to take a bus, or get two ubers....
-
Hmmm, we are getting a promotional beverage card as part of our package.... I wonder if I can use it to buy gelato????
-
Well I am bringing my FireHD anyway to use on the airplane, so I might as well put music on it. Besides, I will be on Niuew Statendam, so who knows what they will have in the cabins...

Hmmm, it sounds like I am adding music to go with the videos and books on my tablet this March...

I am using Safari on a Mac and the deck plans are messed up. It looks like most decks are rotated and scaled... only decks 1 and 12 look right.

Cruise ships tend to keep the public areas cool. I heard that it help retard the transmission of the noravirus (how do you spell that anyway????)
-
Yeah, logically I know that.
It's just that my friends are paying not much more than I for the two of them, and they have a better cabin... It just doesn't seem fair. But when has the world ever been fair.....
-
I'm in the same boat. Going single in an interior cabin was cheaper that the solo cabins. The only thing going for the solo cabins are that they have a window...
I understand that it costs the line just as much to clean/maintain a cabin for one as it does for two, but being penalized for being alone adds insult to injury...

Oh, by the way, the video in Copper10-8 post needs more cowbell....

I guess my definition of "Rock" is broader than others.
Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you, just you taste in music
I consider them Disco not Rock
Hey, better Gloria Gaynor and Abba then Tony Orlando and Barry Manalow...
Cruising Disney as a solo
in Disney Cruise Line
Posted · Edited by hexdragon
Being a solo traveler for many years, and twice (soon to be third time) on Disney, I understand your concerns. I first have a question. Are you traveling with other people, or totally alone? I always travel with my best friends (DINKs) so I have someone to eat dinner and hang with...
First off, no matter which cruise line you sail on, you are going to pay almost the same price as if two people were in the cabin. I think Disney is 150% the P/P rate. My upcoming cruise I paid $900 something, where for two people in the same cabin would have been $1200
No one ever looked at us funny for not having kids hanging with us. (They probably assumed they were at the kids club or something). The first time Disney sat us for dinner with another group who were also kid-less..
