  1. From the back streets, we took a rickshaw ride (no pictures from our phones, he said it wasn't safe) but he took many pictures and will send us the link

We then went to a temple, and made a wish ad the locals do

We then went to the outskirts of town and stopped at a coffee shop and got smoothies

Dinner in the MDR was very slow tonight, 2 hours. 🤔

I had French onion soup with the BBQ Cobra, and DH had the frig legs, French onion soup and shrimp scampi.

Show tonight is the singers and dancers, which we decided to not go to, and visit the casino instead.

Early morning tomorrow, we dock at Ho Chi Min, Vietnam at 7am, and gave a full day private tour.

Afternoons are very quiet on the ship. People are eating dinner later. Not many people playing in the casino.

  3. Dinner last night in the MDR was good, service a little slow. We had the prime rib, very good. I had Thai chilled coconut soup, too spicy for me and a salad. DH had shrimp cocktail and escargot. I forgot to take pictures. Mint is the sommelier and seems very knowledgeable on her wines.

Didn't go to the show. Went to the casino. DH likes to play the slots. They have a special for slot play. He paid $500. & Got $575. on his card. He played through $175, and got $164. Not too bad, let him play. He will download $5-$10 in a machine, and cash out his winnings. He's not a big spender.

We are traveling with another couple. Their son is currently living in Singapore for 3 yrs for work. While in Singapore, we have been staying with them. When they got their luggage yesterday, everything was wet. When we boarded, it was raining and their luggage must have been on top. We had experienced this in Australia, so I suggested she ho to guest services and complain. Celebrity stepped up and is washing their clothes, free of charge

Millie seems to be in great condition. Carpeting looks new. We are in a 2C cabin, deck 6, a slant. 750936a8f4142f0297bbd3437e2be8dd.jpgcd884353676c0a91537646419c922884.jpg3866e7a3116cefb62f0f843e7074a89b.jpg

Stay tuned for lots of Adventure on our trip.

  5. we are also booked on the 10/21 sailing.

We cancelled our hotel reservations and will be changing our flights to the day of the cruise tomorrow as there are still very few hotels open and with the 7pm curfew we are going to take our chances.

I am more worried about getting out of San Juan. If our flight getting us home gets cancelled who knows how long we might be stuck in San Juan.

    Bill

Inquire with RC if you can leave the ship in Barbados. Stay a night or 2, then fly home from there. May cost more and you would loose your last 2 nights on the ship, but might be worth the peace of mind.....

  6. Oh please. Why don't you take a look in the mirror... with so many people starving in the world you send your food back if is not to your liking.. with so much poverty in the world you are out taking pleasure cruises.

Of course the op is concerned. Does not look like she is going to get what she paid for. I don't blame her one bit.

OP will get their cruise. As it states in the cruise contract, the cruise line reserves the right to make port changes. The OP will be on a cruise ship and have the food, entertainment and use if the ship for the duration if their cruise. As to what ports the ship will stop at, that will be determined by the availability of ports at the time of their sailing. Still plenty of hurricane season left. Pray to God the hurricanes are fine for this year and the Islands can recover.

If OP wants to visit their daughter, they should fly to Granada and spend more than a 6-8 hr port stop together.

The cruise line has every right to change the ships itinerary. You agree to this when you decide to cruise. If you don't like it, don't cruise.

  7. No, as long as you are back on the ship by your scheduled time, you will be fine.

We were on the Equinox Mardi Gras cruise (2/20/17 sailing). Once we were able to get off the ship, we did not have to come back until the ship was ready to leave. We were docked for 2 nights. They had officers there for cruisers to scan their seapass cards to come and go all hours of the day/night.

We have an overnight in Aruba on our 2/4/18 sailing on the Eclipse. Looking forward to being able to stay out til all hours of the night while there!

We have done overnights in Hawaii, where we tendered, and they ran tenders all night long (this was through Royal Caribbean.)

We have also done an overnight in Bora Bora while on Holland America. This was also a tender port, and they stopped tendering at midnight, then began again in the morning at 6:00AM. There was a large group of the crew that got off then ship just before midnight, and did not return til the morning hours. They all were telling us how they loved spending the night off the ship.

    Enjoy your overnight stay!

  8. I have a friend who stayed on the Empress and said the captain announced to the passengers who stayed onboard to avoid the hurricane , that they will be departing in Gavelston Texas. There was a lot of angry passengers due to this who are from the Tampa area. The reason was because the hurricane shifted more west and is headed directly for Tampa. The ship may not be able to port back there if the pier is damaged. This hurricane really must be a headache for the cruise lines and passengers. Prayers for all who are affected.

So why didn't all these people from the Tampa area get off the ship also? Hurricanes are very unpredictable.. no one thought about the pier in Tampa being damaged?

  9. Researchobsessed is doing a livish report from Adventure of her wedding cruise. She posted Saturday night the Adventure was going to stop in St. Martin today to drop off much needed supplies. In one of the videos, I saw a glimpse of the cruise ship pier, and it appeared to still be intact. Time will tell if and when the pier is still standing, as to when cruise ships may start stopping again in St. Martin. It will take several weeks just to assess the damage and begin cleanup. Give the authorities some time to do their jobs.

We are scheduled to be in St. Martin the end of January/2018. Hopefully we can stop so we can donate directly to the people there. It will definitely take some time to get their operations back up and running. They will get this done ASAP, as tourism is over 70% of the Islands income.

St. John's, Antigua sustained very minimal damage. I read in an article things should be cleaned up within a couple days. Antigua is south of St. Kitts, which also sustained minimal damage.

Time will tell as to what the cruise lines will do after Hurricane Irma has finished her wrath on Florida. Many of the cruise lines corporate headquarters are in the Miami area, and have all evacuated. After the first of the week, and everyone starts to return to South Florida, we will begin to get some answers from the Cruiselines. Until then.....

God bless all the folks in the Islands and good luck to all of them.

  10. There are many other islands in the Caribbean just south of The Virgin Islands, & St. Marten. Antigua has reported very minimal damage. Then south are Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, then onto the ABC Islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. The northern Antilles Islands need time to recover. At this time, it is hard to say how long that will take. Maybe some of the near cruises will be to the Western, or will be many days at sea.

We need to pray for all the residents of the Islands, and Jose is barrelling in on them, and they have no place to go. May they be safe and overcome this terrible tragedy and begin to rebuild.

  11. Cabin Crawl snacks, have arrived!

    Everything looks really yummy!!

We will be sailing on Anthem 8/23/18. We are in cabin #6162, which is an obstructed cabin, would love to see a picture of the balcony, or one from the outside of the ship, it is located at the front of the ship, just where the ship starts to curve in.

Really looking forward to your review!!

  12. We will be visiting Langkawi from Mariner of the Seas this November. Has anyone done the Langkawi Skycab & Oriental Village excursion through the RCCL Mariner of the Seas? If so how was it? There is not a write up under the excursions on the RC website, nor on our cruiseplanner. I was wanting to know if the excursion goes to the top platform, is there time to walk on the skybridge?

  13. When groups book, they usually block out a group of rooms for the group for a set period of time. Look again in a few months and I bet you'll see many room available

I am also on this cruise, and have had my booking since May/2016. I am also a travel agent, and back in February/2016, any unsold group space being held by travel agents had to be returned to Celebrity. This situation also happened with our 2/20/17 Equinox cruise. It was an 11 night sailing to New Orleans for 2 nights during Mardi Gras. About 3-4 months after its release, it was selling so well, any unsold group inventory needed to be returned to Celebrity. The ship was never listed as not available or sold out, just very high pricing. I think when final payment rolls around, there will be cabins open up. Many people will change their mind just before final payment. Only time will tell.
