NCL mentioned in their earnings call that they don’t expect to be up and running til Q2 2021, and that it will take 6 months to get their fleet back into service.

November isn’t going to be the date P&O start back up - they did the right thing to cancel the RTW as it would be unethical to take final (huge) payment for something they KNOW will not be able to take place.

Asked about the resumption of cruise, Del Rio stated that while the final two months of 2020 could see a limited return to operations, NCLH does not expect the majority of its fleet to re-enter service until the second quarter of 2021. The restart of the entire fleet would take approximately six months once the green-light is given

So I read it that they are hoping to start at end of 2020 and aim to be up and running by end of quarter 2, 2021.  That’s the six months.

  2. Americans usually just want to lie on a beach and Aruba is good for that. I'm not a beach person so usually just walk along the front to the right past the hotel and then return through town.

Interesting Jean that you say your TA has said that your October cruise is cancelled. This is the cruise that people have been taking about deferring payment as it is due today. Wonder if P&O are trying to get in extra cash or if your TA is wrong.

I think Jean cancelled the cruise herself as she was unwilling to cruise at the moment as it is so uncertain.

I don’t see Princess getting the same bad press. They seem to be handling the matter differently even from underneath the same umbrella.

See last entry post 4338. Waiting 122 days. Their posts are as long as P&O and delays in refunds.

And I totally agree with you. We wouldn't want it either, and my husband would never use an area like that,  but that's the fault of the ship's planners not the smokers/vapers.

    Thank you for your consideration.

  7. I love the old town in Vigo and all the sculptures, especially Jules Verne. It has some nice park walking areas between streets. We do not get off the ship in Gibraltar.

Doh - my fault.  Thanks both.  Not sure how I missed that.

Checking the 2021 on Ventura still quite a high deposit required - £210 per person on inside, £322 balcony so still high compared to Princess but not the jaw dropping experience I thought.

    Thanks again

Deposits now seem to be 5% again until 29 June

Having been on both my first thought was that the superior deluxe balcony cabins on Azura are bigger. I wasn't sure if that was just what it felt like to us or if it is actually true so I looked online and according to one well known TA website the minimum size of a superior deluxe balcony cabin on Britannia is 281 square foot whereas on Azura the minimum size of a superior deluxe balcony cabin is 314 square foot. With 4 of you that extra little bit of space may be important over 2 weeks?

Personally we would choose Azura at the cheaper price for a slightly bigger cabin. That said, we'd also happily go on Britannia if the prices were reversed. For us there are positives and negatives about both ships so it would come down to cost, itinerary and timing.

You will also have a much larger balcony on Azura which will be much better for your family.

  10. I cancelled J003 Arcadia direct with P&O on 29 February and was confirmed 50% refund. It was going to change to 40% the next day. I was apprehensive of going on the cruise. When my cc account arrived on 31 March it only showed 40% so I rang and a lady working from home confirmed with her superior that the computer did not recognise the leap year date and it had gone through on 1 March. She would arrange the difference an mark it urgent. It is on my account today processed on the 5 May. I know this a not quite the same as your later cancelled cruises but it shows someone is working at refunds.
