  1. There was a post on here about a year ago with very detailed photos of the S class ship and all the room numbers super-imposed over each room. It was really amazing and someone went to a lot of work to compile it. I don't remember who posted it but maybe someone else will. The closest I can find is something posted bycruisetrail. Here's a link http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1751328&highlight=s+class+photos+exterior+staterooms

We liked Sky Deck, but I think we prefer deck 10. All of the other cruises we've been on we have had a room on 9 and 10, midship. Seriously, just being on the ship is so much fun, I'd probably be happy in almost any location! Have a great cruise!

  2. We also have done the Reidel workshop and enjoyed it very much. Like others, we were amazed how the Reidel glass affected the taste of the different wines. Each participant has 4 different Reidel glasses and 1 "joker" glass (this is your standard inexpensive wine glass). The wine is poured into the "joker" glass first, tasted and then transferred into the appropriate Reidel glass. You will be amazed at the difference in flavor! We had our glasses sent home and they arrived in perfect condition. I would enjoy taking the class again, but I think if the Wine Connoisseur dinner is offered I will try that instead.

  3. I don't know Steve but this is what I reacted to in terms of being "friendly":

"and maybe wangle us an invitation to come visit my new friends in the PH."

Maybe I value my sense of privacy too much but I don't really need to engage with others while I'm on my own balcony. I know they are there next to me (or above) but that's all I need to know. They aren't public areas.

It takes all kinds to make the cruise ships go round. Personally, I enjoy being around friendly people and have made many new friends on cruises by speaking to strangers. If I were going through a crisis such as the one Steve described, I would welcome a friendly hello.

  4. what is the name of the bar located on the lower level where the band plays in the middle of the ship

also is a martini on the drink package without the upgrade

    thanks

Hi Kevin! I'm going to answer this question b/c I was on the same cruise...I only saw you and your wife at the sail away and the CC party, but it was nice to meet you. Thanks for your review...it was a wonderful cruise and I've enjoyed reliving it through your thoughts and photos.

The bar on deck 3 is the Passport Bar. Martinis are available in the Classics package, but they are served in a smaller glass than if you have the premium package. Most martinis will be served in the classics package, but there are a few that are considered premium...also, I think the brand of liquor is a limiting factor. Either way, you can definitely have a martini with the classic package.

  5. Here in Montana the Ceasar is served probably more often than a Bloody Mary. We also drink red beer, using Clamato juice rather than plain ole (boring) tomato juice. I had my fair share of Ceasars on Silhouette in Jan. after one of our traveling companions showed the bartender at the Sunset bar how to make them. :D

  6. I think the bar outside Eclipse and Equinox from The Ocean View Cafe is called the Ocean View Bar. Sunset bar is one deck up, on 15. Ocean View bar is not present on Silhouette, it has been replaced with additional seating under the very large overhang of Sunset from above. Not entirely bad as it offers shade and some wind protection. I did miss the Ocean View bar, though.

  7. We were in Labadee on our Jan-Feb. cruise and enjoyed it very much. I booked a cabana for our party of 6 ($250. total) and it came with the floating mats, which otherwise would have been an upcharge had we not booked the cabana. The drinks package was limited to what they brought off the ship, but as someone else said, beer, tropical drinks...as I mostly drink wine, it was a bit disappointing, but I "made due". That being said, I've never had so many sweet drinks in a day! It was an excellent experience over all. Oh, and one of the best perks of renting the cabana is that it comes with a cabana boy who brings drinks and snaps pictures for you! I'd add a pic, but I haven't mastered that yet. :(

  8. We were there in Feb. and took the Tri Rail for $5.00/pp. The Tri Rail was easy and relaxing for us. I think it took about 45 min., but don't hold me to that. You will have plenty of time to catch your next ship, since they don't leave until late afternoon. We took a cab to the FLL Airport Tri Rail (which is not actually within the airport), got our tickets from a machine and waited for the next train to come by. We rode as far as we could and then were shuttled via bus (no extra charge) to the MIA airport. From there, you could hail a cab to POM. Not sure of the cost for a cab to POM, but it was a very economical way to get from FFL to Miami for us. The train was clean and comfortable.

  9. Thank you for taking the time to post your wonderful pictures and very witty review! We were on the ship 2 weeks b/f you with 2 other couples, so 6 altogether. We had a wonderful cruise, and it was the first time for all of us in those ports. Hubby & I had 3 other X cruises under our belts, so it was fun to share the WOW factor with our friends , who were on their first cruise. We left the port area in Falmouth on an organized culinary/historical walking tour. We really enjoyed it, and are so glad we went. In Labadee we rented a cabana and loved it. If we're ever back in Labadee we will rent one again. For $80.+/couple, your own "cabana boy" and floating mats, we thought it was a great bargain. Somehow, we missed seeing all the vendors and shopping opportunities:D. Enjoy your future cruises, and I will look forward to your future reviews!

  10. I was unable to find the coffee/pineapple tour so maybe it was for another area. Here is a tour that I just booked and it sounds like a good one with some good reviews. Jamaica Culinary Tours: A Taste of History. Already spoke to them by phone just checking on the Allure 10:30 timing and said it was not an issue. Do not recall what form I was on that suggested this but thank you.

We took the Jamaica Culinary tour on 1/30/2014 and it was a wonderful 3 hours. We felt like we really got our money's worth and saw parts of Falmouth that most people don't get to see. The food we sampled was interesting, and the guide did an excellent job of informing us as we walked through the streets. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
