  1. A few years ago I was on a 4nt Monarch cruise that ended up being a "sort" of mystery cruise thanks to a hurricane predicted to come up the coast of Fl...we missed Coco Cay, spent a day as scheduled in Nassau & ended up in Key West after Nassau...kind of fun.

  2. S

I know JS are hardly included in any "suite" benefits, other than having a larger stateroom. JS cruisers don't get much in the way of perks. Do you even get double points for booking a suite? I thought you did, but was recently told that was not the case.

You get double points for JS or higher...the only exception seems to be "IF" you take a RCL upsell on a JS or higher they will not give you double points...if this was not what happened to you, call Crown & Anchor & get the double points applied...

  3. Just a thought...but make sure you are looking at the correct date on the reservation page...I have had it "jump" in the past to a different date, which can affect the prices the agents are seeing...beyond that...I have no clue what they are seeing...maybe call Crown & Anchor & ask them for help?

  4. Avoid the Centrum if you want a quiet cabin. The music was quite loud if you had a room anywhere near it.

x2 and it goes late into the night!!!

That applies to ANY cabin near the Centrum.

AGREE!! I had cabin 8088 on Brilliance in April & during the day with the door closed you really didn't notice the activity in the Centrum...but at night...oh boy...yeah it was pretty loud...and the music goes on till midnight or after...not a good cabin for someone who isn't a night owl...my sister had 8084 a couple doors down & while you could still hear the music, it wasn't nearly as loud...I have 8616 on the Jewel for Alaska in Sept....hoping I am far enough back it will be quiet...

  5. French toast has always been better in the MDR - made with proper thick cut bread and if the chef's special have had it with sliced almonds on top.

Must have been the same cook in the WJ & the MDR as I had it both places...and it was terrible in both places....also had it in Chops and it was the same....guess RC must have changed their receipe...:(

  6. I would have her TA call & book you all first...I don't see why it would be a problem...I've had multiple cabins hold on the same ship before...not sure how the "extra" guest would play out...if you cancelled them at boarding I can't see it being a problem...if you cancelled them before, you could possibly be moved from the FS you want...

  7. I've obviously missed something - what or where do you learn about solo cruises? As for the few studio cabins I find on a dummy booking that they are more than an interior which has more room so don't see the point of booking one. I, too, would like to see a lower surcharge for solo. Some people post about the great rates they have received but I've never had such luck. Are they with another cruise line?

Low prices on solo cruising is pretty much the luck of the draw...I've got a great price on my Alaska cruise that lasted less than 24 hours...then nearly doubled...last minute pricing can be good sometimes too..

I agree with you on the studio cabins...for a smaller cabin, single points & reduced C&A discount it isn't worth it to me...I'd rather pay a little more to get the room & double points...

  8. I've even heard of RCCI agents suggesting this, so definitely done all the time. One thing to be aware of, though, is they won't switch the onboard account. In other words the two guys will be charging to that room's onboard account and the two lady's will be charging to their room's onboard account whether they are actually staying in that room or not.

It must depend on the ship as we booked cabins this way on the Brilliance & when we went to get the extra key the gentleman at Guest Services transfered the portfolio info onto the new card, so we would have only 1 key instead of 2...

  9. On Her Majesty they utilize part of the Viking Crown Lounge for the nightly Diamond Lounge for Diamond and above cruisers on board. But they still have a separate Diamond Event, usually in the night club when they tell everyone what is going on in the fleet and announce how many cruisers are on board in each C&A category. Here they serve liquor -- generally premade cocktails or prepoured wine or champagne and have hor d'ouvres being served.

That sounds like the Top Tier Party...I believe it's for Platinum & Above...

  10. No, my mother was with someone on the Jewel. And MIL is with FIL on the Serenade.

My mother's cruise history shows 2 entries with the same sail date on the Jewel of 7 points each. Same for the person she was sailing with. Oddly April 11th sailing date, same as someone posted about Oasis.

It was a good week to cruise. ;)

    I was on Brilliance April 11th & didn't get double points...should I email Michael Bailey & complain?:D;)

  11. Thank you for this thread. There are not too many about Brilliance. We are sailing this ship for the first time in November for our daughter's college graduation gift.

On our last sailing of Allure, we had lunch at Giovanni's. We loved it and wanted to try it for this cruise, but when I go to my Cruise Planner page for RCCL, I am only able to see that they are open for dinner...is this really the case? It seems odd to have a restaurant with a captive audience and only serve one meal a day?

We just got off Brilliance a couple weeks ago...they had lunch in Giovanni's on the Sea Days...I "think" it was $10, but not positive...I planned on eating lunch there one of the days, but there was always so much else I wanted to do I never made it.
