  1. We cancelled on Monday due to our age for cruise on 10th April before all cruises were cancelled and money was refunded today along with refund for excursions - very impressed We were offered the choice of booking another cruise or holiday with an extra £400pp off the price Unfirtunately we have a cruise booked for 23rd June, 12th Sept and April next year so as we didn't want to cruise July/August we declined and we couldn't work out dates for Nov/Dec although we might book something if other arrangements allow.

We were told not to worry about June cos if it's cancelled we would get our money back so will be paying balance end of this month

  2. I know Discovery is now off Singapore and she was off Laem Chabang for a few days It updated this afternoon I've been watching at least twice a day on Marine Traffic for all TUI ships which I've used for years

The propulsion problems were fixed weeks ago

  3. According to MarineTraffic Discovery 2 and Explorer 2 are 'waiting for orders' as their listed destination

Explorer 2 was in Bridgetown port for 2 days but is now outside the port with four other ships including Azura

Dream is sailing up the Spanish coast with no destination listed (Gibraltar is out of date)

Explorer has been in Las Palmas for 2 days

Discovery is still showing in the sea outside Laem Chabang but the info is 4 days old

  4. KevinYork   That's great your Mum is coming to stay with you My mother who will be 93 in May, hopefully, will not move!!! She's not gone out except to the dentist for 2 years Yes she still has her own teeth and smokes 6 ciggies a day!!! As long as she can still read and watch TV she's happy.

  5. Went to TUI TA this morning as we are 70 and have been advised not to cruise (although our cruise hasn't been cancelled yet) got an immediate refund for 2 back to back cruises £5000+ We could also have had £400pp if we had rebooked as part of the cancellation but as we have booked on line for end of June, early September and next April we couldn't really book anything else as we don't know when we could go.

I had booked £300+ excursions but they couldn't help as I'd booked them on line. When I got home I had an email saying my excursions had been refunded.

When we went this morning the news that TUI  had cancelled all cruises, holidays and flights hadn't been released

Absolutely gutted to not be going away but can't fault TUI AT ALL and at least I got more shares for my dividend due to the low price 👍

  7. Edinburgher  Thanks for your kind birthday wishes and sorry to hear you've had to cancel 'special' birthday celebrations on Thursday but hope you still have an enjoyable day although not like you would have wished

As for me, Friday 13th was not a good day - although we would still have gone on our cruise 10th April our Insurers said no. Rang TUI TA and have an appt tomorrow to get a refund even though the cruise hasn't been officially cancelled. This is as per TUI travel alert on Friday which we have been told still stands even though the page has been updated since However had a lovely meal at Miller & Carter which was very busy on Friday evening. Today 15 family members had Sunday lunch (my treat) at Toby Carvery also very busy and then later Dave & I went to see That 60's Band at a very large pub in the Town Centre which was also very busy even though the St Patrick's Day Parade had been cancelled - lots of talk about the virus but everyone saying they would carry on as normal unless of course they got symptoms or were forced to stay in doors which is what unfortunately might happen to us now - dreading it.

  8. But are you? It's all moaning. We're all going to miss our looked forward to cruises along with everyone else all over the world and as you say let's put this in perspective a holiday can be replaced but not those who don't get through this terrible virus

  9. As far as I’m aware all cruise lines have been refunding without the need to claim off their travel insurance.

i meant other cruisers would have to claim on their travel insurance for their flights!!!

Dronnygirl thanks for your birthday wishes and your support

Im sick of reading all these posts by new/prospective Marella cruisers who have never posted on our site until Discovery's engine problems and Coronovirus started

  10. Jono75.   I'm waiting on 10th April cruise now, knowing tui they'll be hanging on until they have to

That is slagging them off in my opinion If he'd read the travel alerts he'd know the procedure It's a month away before his cruise

The other cruise lines don't have flights and cruises included generally so all they have to do is repay for the cancelled cruise TUI have to organise flights as well

At least with a package cruise that is cancelled by TUI you don't have to claim on your travel insurance as they are giving full refunds.

  11. Jono75 Stop slagging TUI off If you read the latest update on their travel alerts 13.10 today they are dealing with the refunds in chronological order and obviously those passengers/holiday makers flying in the next two weeks are being dealt with first.

The Sultanate of Oman has stopped issuing visitor visas as from now until further notice see Omani police website - try to apply for an e visa and the message comes up

This means if it's still in force the cruise from the 17th April on Discovery will not go ahead, which is pleasing our friends as we can't now go from 10th April as we are 70 and they were joining us the following week

  12. Many thanks Pensioncruiser and Jim for your very kind birthday wishes

Just had a lovely meal at Miller & Carter with four friends, two of whom were joining us in Muscat for our cruise from Dubai on Discovery and as they are well under 70 they are very upset that we can't go and they can't cancel as they have no excuse. So they are just praying it gets cancelled now. I'm not going to cancel even though we can't go until much nearer Cruise departure (28 days) in case things change. Definitely glass half full me 🍺 Or even overflowing Really desperate for some sun and sea 🌞🌊

So sorry Pensioncruiser you've had to cancel. Tom & Maris are still in the Philippines and may not get called to Celebration until TUI know where they can sail to so you won't be missing them

  13. After latest update on Marella cruises travel alert regarding anyone 70 or over being advised not to cruise (we will get a refund) I rang our insurers Nationwide Flexplus to ask if we could still go on our 3 week cruise and were told we wouldn't be covered. We should have been sailing from Dubai which hasn't been cancelled yet and had thought about switching to Explorer 2 for the 3week Transatlantic cruise but can't do that either

Absolutely gutted as we were both prepared to go as we have no health problems My husband was 70 Sept last year and I'm 70 on Sunday

Going to TA tomorrow to see if we can get a good deal to Cape Verde. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
