  1.

During the night of 4/4/2015 while sleeping, I constantly felt something biting my feet and legs. On 4/5/2015 I pulled back the sheets to find similar things as far as the specks and stains that I found the morning of 4/3/2015. Since it was the last day of the cruise I did not contact guest services as I felt from the previous contact regarding this issue it would not be addressed.

So Sorry you had such a bad experience and are still having it but even sorrier, madder and aggravated that you didn't advise guest services even if it were your last day. What about the poor people after you?

This is why they keep spreading - because of people like you!!!

  2. My normal room service is 2 large pots of coffee and whole milk. If this true, my new order will be 4 pots of coffee, a BLT, pastries., a club sandwich, a burger, some fries, hell I might just order 1 of everything on the menu. If you want to charge me another BS fee, I will make it worth my while. When the food costs triple for them maybe they will rethink these trumped up charges. I wonder what else DelRio does all day besides thinking of new ways to open peoples wallets. That man is really just out of control. I can only imagine what Kevin is thinking as he watches this man destroy what it took Kevin years to build.

Seems to me DelRio wasn't happy just destroying 1 company, now he wants to do the same to NCL.

BTW, I will then clean out 2 pots and leave them in the cabinet for the rest of the week and I will just go get my coffee myself.

Don't forget to keep the tray.

One of my favorite things is to sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee b4 starting my day. Not going to do it at $8.00 a day - will do it 1 time for the pots & tray... Thanks for the idea ;)

hmmm...Is there an 18% grat charge on top of that?

  3. You can also send a request when you make your reservation to have it added that you want the mini fridge emptied and it will be upon your arrival. We do this for that and egg crates or anything else special we request. Usually works very well.

I booked directly with NCL B1 catagory - I can call my rep and request these ahead of time? Would be great if I could :D

  4. I can't believe how many people have attacked the poor OP! A state bedbug expert gave a presentation at my workplace. He said it costs thousands of dollars for the average house to be treated for bedbugs! The $500 compensation doesn't go far with that! Bedbugs are very hearty, and just moving to another room won't guarantee the OP and his wife won't bring them home inadvertently. I'd be livid if I found bedbugs! They need to be taken seriously.

The $500.00 can go a long way if you take the necessary precautions, (as others have mentioned), prior to entering your home.

NCL has compensated him above and beyond.

IMHO he boarded the ship with them from previous hotel stay (which has been known to have them), and disembarked with $500.00, laundered clothing & bed bug free!

  5. I wasn't asking for heating up food, I suffer from cluster headaches and I have a scented bean bag thing that I put in my microwave when I get a headache that helps it go away, Thank you for all the replies:)

Maybe if you bring it to one of the dining rooms and ask a wait staff they would be able to heat it for you - I'm sure there is a microwave there.

Have an enjoyable, headache free time!!

  6. Ok, not going to lie, we board the Epic this Sunday and we have cabin 8050 (the cabin directly next to said bedbug cabin 8052) and I am more than a little freaked out. I no longer want to stay in this cabin, or even any cabin near this said infected cabin. Cruises are suppose to be relaxing, not give you anxiety attacks. I plan on calling NCL to see about an upgraded, even if I have to pay for it. I'm sorry but I can't think of anything much worse than bedbugs. Never experienced them and don't want to on my cruise either. Bugs of any kind are scary to me and I sure don't plan on sharing my cabin w these little boogers now. :(

Watch this clip & follow it, (thats what I plan on doing next month) then relax and have a GREAT time!!!

    Bed Bugs

  7.

Put yourself into my shoes..and ask yourself what you do? If you have bed bugs what would you want? If this is your first cruise and you have bed bugs would you want to come back?

We did not bring any bed bugs in from outside. We left our house on Saturday morning, and stayed at the Conrad Hilton in downtown Miami. This is a 5 star hotel.

You may think every time to look for bed bugs in a room, but as someone that has stayed in 75-100 nights in a hotel room every year I do not.

The second room had chips in the sink and was noisy. We could have been fine with a chipped sink but not noise and vibrations in the floor.

1st off I want to say I do feel for you and your experience but, IMHO NCL did go above & beyond what they needed to. Changing your room a 3rd time was not necessary. $500.00 was more than enough compensation. I believe they DID bend over backwards to try to please you and your wife.

Now as far as you NOT bringing them in - Who know's? But I Just googled "downtown Miami Hilton Hotel ever have bed bugs", guess what? Numerous times!!!

Do yourself & your wife a favor - next time you stay away from home - Check for Bed Bugs! IMHO not to is just plain ignorant!!

  8. "Room service is not free. There is a$12.95 service fee per person"

Just saw this on *************** from a passenger that was on the Epic March 8, 2015. Is this true? Each time we order from room service we will be charged?

    Shhhhhhh!!!!!

Don't give them any ideas!!!

  9. To me it was better to do on my own: cheaper, more time there, beat the crowds to get lockers, loungers etc...

I will be there end of April, (on Gem) saved over $120.00 by booking a room at Comfort Suites which included 3 day passes for Atlantis Water Park. That's including all the taxes, (hotel has their own + other charges) and transportation. Cancellation fee is $20.00 within 24 hrs prior to check-in.

Majestic Tours is another to check out. You won't see the waterpark on their site I don't believe they can advertise it, but, if you email them they will answer you. Their prices were also better and they are located inside Atlantis.

From what I understand ride to Atlantis is approx $4.00 pp each way and there are plenty of cabs right as you get off ship.

If you look up Atlantis under Excursions here on CC it gives you tons of information - Good Luck

  10. I am the OP for this tread - I have not sailed on the Gem yet. I merely quoted someone that stated they had them, (please re-read #1). By the way, it was not confirmed.

I did NOT want to start a debate wither or not they DO exist on the ship or anywhere else in the world. I only wanted to know if there was something I could bring on the ship with me. (as I stated previously, I wish I had titled it differently).

For those of you who answered my question - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

For those of you who have traveled to thousands of hotels/cruises wherever and never encountered even a bite - consider yourself extremely lucky, but if I were you, I would take my head out of the sand and face reality - THEY DO EXIST!

Even your 5 Star hotels/cruise ships have had them  For you to think they don't is just plain ignorant and it's people like you that cause them to spread!

Now - we all know what we can or cannot do, so can we PLEASE just let this thread die out like bed bugs should :o

  11. Jade

    Inside

    Casino - Deck 6

Cigar Bar - Deck 6 by Bar City

    Outside

Deck 7 (promenade deck) where the ash trays are - basically both sides IIRC

Deck 12 near the pool in the covered bit - port side

Deck 13 - port side of Bali High bar

OK until bad weather closes the outside decks - then the cigar bar gets quite cosy!

Would these areas be the same for the Gem? Will be sailing in April. Also, do you have to stand by the ashtrays or can you sit and relax with a cocktail?

  12. You're right, but with so many choices out there I am certainly not going to pick one with a reported bed bug problem.

First of all it was never confirmed.

Second - I'm sure if u looked up every ship from every company you will find at least 1 post mentioning them somewhere along the line.

Third - For you NOT to go on the Gem is ridiculous - you might as well NEVER vacation again via cruise or hotel

I started this thread ONLY to find out if there was some kind of traveling spray out there for them. Maybe I should have titled it differently - too late now.
