Thank you Dorhead for getting back to me and again for the fantastic review!!!:)
-
FORHORN - GREAT idea!!
-
Wow - you weren't kidding that it was going to be a "long review" Was Fantastic!
I will be going on Gem in April with Hubby and Son and enjoyed reading it very much :D THANK YOU :D
Wondering 2 things:
1) How did you get your complimentary tickets for space shuttle. I know you said from a member of Congress but what did you say... I'm going to space center and I want free tickets? (I'm an idiot when it comes to things like this)
2) I would like to get cabana at GSC but thought $300 is too much for 3 of us since they will be jet skiing and I will be lounging on raft most of the time. I had mentioned to hubby that I wish we could share with someone but didn't know how to go about inquiring that. Did you do it through Roll Call here prior to sail or did you meet people during cruise and arranged with them then
Thank you again for your GREAT review!!!

Thank you all very much for your advice/suggestions. You have made my discussion for me. Definitely going to have insurance. Now just going to do some homework and figure out which one is best for what we need and hopefully never have to use it ;)
Thank You!!! Thank You!!!

When I booked our cruise for April 2015 I did take the Travel insurance offered. But now I have 2nd thoughts about it. The cost is approx. $230.00 for 3 of us. I can't remember if I took it for my other cruise or not
The one thing that is stopping me is that when we were on our last cruise someone had to be helicoptered off and taken to the hospital :( The ship even changed course to get closer to land. (I believe he suffered a heart attack but was ok - Thank GOD!) But I remembered someone saying that he hoped he took out the travel insurance otherwise this was gonna be an awful expensive trip .
Was wondering what your thoughts are on Travel Insurance.

Thank you all for replying :D
Since there are 3 of us that smoke Guess we're gonna have to get our cigs as soon as we can since they go fast on the Gem

In my "Opinion" Chip was totally wrong on so many levels and NCL should be aware of it.
1) He asked for a young boy of 7 or 8 to volunteer. When asking your son how old he was and he did fall into his category, then why would he take a 6 year old? Doesn't make sense unless he purposely wanted to degrade him for a "laugh"
2) Trying to get a laugh from people at the expense of a hurting a Childs feeling is totally unprofessional.
3) I don't even get why he would say "run Forest run" it did not pertain to the situation here at all, unless your son was running to be on stage. Was he? In which case he still should have had him on stage - he's a child - Geez
If it were my son - u can bet that NLC would know about it!
Hope your son got over it and his experience with Chip does not stop him from ever volunteering for something again.
Good luck with it and I hope you keep us posted as to the outcome.

I thought/heard that if you have your phone on while cruising you can get all sorts of roaming charges, is this not true? I was told to even take the battery out
-
When sailed last I had bought my cigarettes on ship which was much cheaper. We will be sailing on Gem in April and I am wondering if they still sell them and if anyone knows about how many cartons you are allowed to buy and for how much, (approx.) or should I bring my own?
-
I think I read here that instead of booking Atlantis Waterpark Excursion with cruise to go through Majestic Tours that they were much cheaper. I had gone on their site and can't find anything about it so I emailed them a few times asking for information but haven't heard from them :(
Was wondering if anyone knows anything about Majestic Tours or had used them? If so, can you please give me some information on them. Also if you have any tips regarding the waterpark at Atlantis. Thank you :)

On Carnival every evening we would order 2 pots of coffee and croissants to be delivered in the morning and would have it on our balcony b4 we'd start our day, (I can't do a thing without my morning coffee). Was wonderful ;)
Hope we can do the same on the Gem.
-
Years ago when my parents would cruise we all would go on the ship for a "bon voyage party" then we would stay on pier till the ship pulled away which would be another party with all the cruisers throwing confetti and streamers down to us. That was fun...I miss that :(

TY all so much for all your help. Been very very helpful. You ALL had such great advice - TY again!!! :) :) :)
-
We thought about doing it last December. It was me, DH & DS. We decided against it, but did get one of the clamshells. That was the best decision. It gave a place to drop our gear, to meet up, and to lie in the shade if we needed to near the water. Cheaper too. For the three of us it was perfect as our son spent most of his time in the water and running around. My huby and I laid out, swam, and relaxed in the clamshell.
Now you just added more confusion to my list...lol
Where do you get the clamshells? I just tried to look it up but I couldn't find them. Do you rent them prior to sail, during sail or on island? how much are they? Do you get on earlier tender if you have one?
-
You all have been very helpful - TY :) I am still not sure since we love the water and the sun, (with plenty of sunblock on) :o
-
Hubby and I are debating on getting small cabana when we go to GSC for $299. I believe you are on earlier tenders to GSC - not sure. I understand that you get $50.00 credit for food & drinks, but isn't the food already included? About how long are you there for? Is it worth it? :confused:What would/did you do, and why?
-
Just goes to show you that you can't please all of the people all of the time. I just read someone else's post on same cruise and she had a great time. But it's the squeaky wheel that gets oiled.
-
You have been very helpful in your room description Swisstwin - TY. and your right - I meant to say "below" the buffet. Does the room come with bathrobes? Our last cruise on Carnival did - just womdering
-
TY so much for your wonderful review - I think you covered everything. Glad you had a great time. 3 of us will be sharing mini suite in April 2015 and am wondering how it is. Also on deck 11 more near the aft elevators, (I believe over the buffet). Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated
-
TY for yr review - Glad to hear none of your little mishaps ruined your trip and that you had a good time. I am going on Gem in April, question - What if anything can you do to make sure you are on GSC early/earlier - any advice?
What is procedure to getting there? Someone had mention in a post something about tickets and of course as my luck goes I can't find that post anymore. So I am hoping you can enlighten me on this.:)

"To accommodate the dry dock, we are canceling 3 sailings in 2015:
2-night Halloween Cruise departing from New York on 10/30/15
12-day Southern Caribbean Sailing departing from New York on 11/1/15
22-day Eastern & Southern Caribbean Sailing departing from New York on 11/1/15"
So earlbird - does that mean it will NOT dry dock in 2014 like posted everywhere? Is that why they are doing some refurbishing now, then do the major work in Nov 2015? Are we all who travel now till November 2015 to expect work going on as we cruise/port?
-
Hi, I believe they are doing some refurbishing in Nov. 2014.....We are on here sailing Dec. 1..from NY .That is according to my T/A....Are you sure the date is 2015? I have reading all over the place it is NOV. 2014?
Wish NCL/TA would know what going on and when.
So it is Nov of 2015 - not 2014? Cause someone posted here the other day that they are on Gem now and said they have already started replacing carpets and one of the lounge areas while they are on it
-
So Sorry to hear that Fly  Do they do anything for u besides refund you?
-
I have heard that the Gem will be going into dry-dock and getting a facelift. Will be back to sea in Nov. Does anyone know what they will be doing to her? I am booked for 4/24/15 and can't wait!
Is it possible to change sail date on Roll Call
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
I have checked everywhere here and can't seem to find the answer. Does anyone know how to change the date on a Roll Call? Since the time the OP set up roll call Norwegian has added an extra day which is the sail date. The OP has not updated the post and was wondering if I would be able to., (to my knowledge it has been over 6 months since OP visited roll call last)
I was hesitant to join and am thinking maybe others are too.
