I would say it was 50/50 between tux and lounge suits plus the usual few who still dress casual. I don't think he would feel out of place in a lounge suit.

As seems to be the norm on Southampton cruises, there are a lot more people that dress up on formal nights than on most other cruises.

Thank you. On our Celebrity Caribbean cruise it was about 50/50. I think he will go with the lounge suit. 🙂

  2. I was wondering what the men were wearing for formal night on Indy. On our past cruises my OH has taken and worn a tux but we found that in general it was very mixed with a lot just wearing suits and ties and a few just slacks and shirts. He doesn't really want to get it cleaned and take the dress shirts if it's mainly lounge suits.

     Me again!

I had the mixed grill tonight but with a baked potato. There was a small piece of steak , lamb chop, chicken breast, sausage and a slice of English bacon.

It was quite good but the bubble and squeak was still on the plate which I left .

Hmmm you haven't really sold it to me.

I think I will pass and pick something else on mixed grill night.

We were on an Explorer 7 day Western Med cruise  May 7th (Barcelona to Southampton) and we had lobster tails on the second formal night.  They were smaller than the ones we had on Vision on our Tranastlantic but much tastier and of course, our waiter brought us two or three each!

We've had lobster and lobster tails on quite a few med cruises with RCC.

And here this crazy American just had to look up what bubble and squeak was.  Is the mixed grill not good?

Enjoying looking at the menus to get a feel for what we may see when we board Indy in July.  Definitely different menus than what we see in the Caribbean.

I know we will get some firsthand impressions, of the food, from our friends who are onboard now.

Mixed grill is basically what we would have for a cooked breakfast. I wouldn't call it fine dining.

The menu's  do look better than what we had on Celebrity a few weeks ago.

Good morning from a SUNNY North sea. Haven't been outside yet but at least it looks nice.

Last night after dinner we went up to the Silent Disco, only 2 channels on Royal(3 on X) but still great fun and some dancing to burn off all the calories we are eating!

I didn't know RCC did the silent disco's. We experienced our first one on Celeb last year. We loved it.

We are on Indy on June 29th and cannot wait. We have been on before two years ago and loved it.

Would it be possible for someone to let me know who the Cruise Director is this year?

Any your cruise everyone, look forward to your reviews

We are on then as well.  We were last on Indy about 10 years ago

  8. We usually leave our cases out the night before and collect them at the appointed time having had one very bad experience of carrying our own cases off a few years ago. The lifts were full and the lines to get off were never ending and it took us ages to get off the ship.

On our last cruise a few days ago we decided to try again with self debarkation. We were packed and left our cases while we had a leisurely breakfast, went back to the cabin to collect the bags and just walked off having got in an empty lift straight away.  We must have just been lucky but we were off and out of the port in 10 minutes.

As Kikki stated above, if you were on the Silhouette mini cruise from Southampton, there were comments on her thread about disembarkation morning, together with other points. The whole cruise was a little unusual compared to the normal X cruise. I presume it was because it was a mini break - not something I’d rush to repeat (our usual cruise is 10+ days).

Yes it was the same for us. I wouldn't bother with another mini cruise after this although it had it's good points I would say the whole atmosphere and attitude of the staff was off.

We were awake early so the announcements didn't really bother us too much.

    I’m back & home now!

I will upload some more photos - we were not really bothered by the stag & hen parties on the cruise but the large groups did take MDR time.

I thought the food was good in the MDR, at least it was hot! But then again food is subjective.

It was obvious that they wanted everyone off the ship ASAP judging by the constant final calls to get off the ship in the morning - they were really anxious to get everyone off very early indeed! There were still people having breakfast!

I would also confirm that they were in a hurry to off load us. We decided to take our own cases off and were up early so we could have breakfast before leaving the ship. We were almost packed but had left our cases and other hand luggage on the sofa in the room. It was about 7.15 when we got back to the room to collect the cases only to find our room attendant stripping the beds and having a good old sort out. He was reluctant to leave but we needed to go to the bathroom etc and asked if he would give us 10 minutes. He did so but we felt it was bad form for him to be in there before we were gone or at least to apologise and let us finish our packing with good grace.

    Hi

We were on this cruise. 6th cruise with Celebrity but first time sailing a short cruise and sailing out of Southampton.

Wow..it was a real eye opener. The positives were good dining in the MDR but many of the common spaces just seemed overrun and really looked a state at times.

Loved being able to drive to the port but this was not a cruise I would repeat.

I really didn't enjoy the MDR. Our waiter couldn't wait to be rid of us after 3 days although we were more than patient with his lack of good service. As previously mentioned to food was mediocre at best and the portions small. Our water glasses were very seldom refilled and at the end of the 3 nights he never even came over to say goodbye he stayed over at his station till we left. I've never had such a bad attitude from any waiting staff on any cruises. It seemed as it was only for 3 nights he wasn't at all fussed if we were happy or not,

We also like the dedicated DL (24 hours) on RCs ships. Also the 3.5 hours for the C&A HH. Also they allow you to have your C&A HH drinks in the MDR. Celebrity needs to get onboard with that.

I would completely agree with this. The DL's on RCC are great fun.

I can't believe on our 3 night Celebrity  cruise they enforced the' no Captains Club or 3 free  bar drinks'.

  13. We are on this cruise too. it's been fine. Not great weather wise but that can't be helped.  Our cabin on deck 6 is clean, quiet and comfortable. We've found the food hit and miss. First night dinner was a shambles. We had to scramble to get in to the MDR at 8.30 and were stopped by the maitre d who asked us to wait to have our table number chequed on the computer even though we knew where we going. That took another 5 minutes as there was a line.  Our waiter wasn't pleased to see us and was surly throughout the meal. We waited an hour for starters and then a further half hour for mains which on an other occasion I would have sent back. My 3 tiny strips of beef were tough and cold as were the  vegetables .  Dinner on the second night was slightly better and our waiter slightly more cheerful. We ordered extra vegetables so our meals were more filling than the previous night.

The food in the Ocean View cafe was ok. Limited choice at lunch time we always found something to eat.

We haven't been troubled by the hen and stag parties although had the weather been better and we'd been round the poor area they may have disturbed a few people.

All in all a nice break but nothing to write home about.

  14. Now I've seen the replies I remember last year we had a drinks package which  is why we didn't notice that we couldn't get any free drinks after 7.00pm and  on the few occasions we went to the Sky Lounge for the Happy Hour meetings we wondered why no one was there at about 7.30pm. Doh!
