  1. I see that the two new Great Lakes itineraries stop in Chicago. I believe that’s the first time the ships themselves are going there rather than just via an extension. As a local, I’m very curious where they will be docking.
  2. I/He did not, but I don't know want to "get in trouble" with my fave cruise line either in case they're monitoring and might care. The way he said it, it was so forthcoming and unprompted (I didn't even ask), as if he was telling me something that everyone was going to know soon enough anyway so he may as well share, though, so I'm rather surprised that 3 months later it's something I've still not heard/read anywhere else.
  3. While we were on Polaris in February, the future cruise salesperson let us know the names of the next two Ocean ships. One was predictable, the other one was not (but I rather like it - it continues the theme while also helping to fill a "hole" in the ship naming now that one has departed), but neither happens to be Uranus (though that could be planned for a future one).
  4. You can enable airplane mode and then subsequently re-enable wifi (without disabling airplane mode), or turn off cellular data only but leave airplane mode off. These will have a similar result, with minor differences. For example, doing the latter still allows your clock to be updated automatically if you change time zones and phone calls will still cause your phone to ring (no charges if you simply don’t answer) and incoming text messages (the green, non-iMessage sort) will also come through (also free so long as you don’t reply). Airplane mode is safest as far as avoiding extra charges go and if you can live with the few additional limitations, it’s probably better (or at least easier) for most people.
  5. Thanks for this information. It is very helpful. Anyone have any idea why they might be doing this? It doesn’t seem to be an Argentinian requirement, and if so, what basis can they have for quarantining you in Argentina after you’ve left the ship? Once you’ve disembarked, why should Viking care at that point? Also, I don’t believe any of the competition are doing daily my testing and quarantine (and likely can’t, lacking onboard laboratories), further making me wonder why Viking is. We have a booking on Polaris in January, and we’ve already quarantined on and after a Viking cruise once and would prefer to avoid doing it again. If we know this protocol will be in place during our planned voyage, we may postpone it to avoid the possibility of a trip ruined by quarantine, despite taking all precautions we can. Looking for any additional info or advice from anyone to help make an informed decision. Thanks!
