  1. Thank you Kim for another one of your fantastic reviews!

I need to make you laugh because my daughter Melissa asked Santa for a Mermaid fin "just like Sakari's" 😁 It's ordered and I will bring it on our cruise in 2 weeks all wrapped up as an early Christmas present. That and the snorkel gear. So far Melissa doesn't realize that snorkeling and scuba are 2 different things but once she does, I'm sending you the bill for scuba lessons. Just kidding.

Looking forward to more of your review.

  2. And just to reinforce that they just put the plank photos out to be found....we've been on Breakaway 3 times already and it has always been that way. I've heard people being told that the camera wasn't working only for them to find the pictures on the display wall.

We will be back on Breakaway in 2 weeks and I'm willing to wager that people are told the same thing, but the pictures will be right there on display.

  3. Oh these are wonderful!!!!

Yes, I checked our book and the screen, and also asked one of the people working there.. that’s who informed me that it wasn’t working.

That's the problem. They don't know who you are when you pull the cord on the plank. They just put out the photos on display on the walls in the Photo Gallery and you need to find them on your own. The Zip line photos have an actual photographer that asks your cabin number and they put those photos in your folder and you can also find them on the screen. The actual Plank photos, you usually have to find on your own.

  4. I just emailed them and asked them about the construction noise. I told them that we booked this hoping for a peaceful day and to please advise if it is still going to be happening on December 18th. I booked 12 passes and I'm going to be really upset if they don't tell the truth.. I am able to cancel the passes and get a full refund up until 11 days before the cruise.

Below you can see the email I sent them and the response I received. My email to them and the response are in reverse order. I'm torn on what to do. I only have 3 days to decide.

    Hi JoAnn,

There has been ongoing construction in Nassau beside the Hilton, but I have visited the Hilton many times while the construction has been going on and I've never noticed it. The British Colonial Hilton is our most popular resort in Nassau and also is the property that gets the most repeat business so it's very well loved by many of our travelers. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Thank you,

    Ashley

Hello. I just heard that there is a lot of construction going on next door to the hotel. People have stated that because of it, it was not as enjoyable as they thought it would be.

Will this construction still be going on when we are there on December 18th?

  5. I'm struggling to be fair here ... full disclosure, I'm very sensitive to noise and once I hear something I can't stop hearing it. I wonder if I had stayed at the beach area if it would have been less intense? But I was just getting to the pool at that point and when it started, I just stood there not knowing what to do. Others were looking over there too, so it wasn't just me. I asked a lifeguard about it and he said it is every day. I told the guard that they may have to start serving earlier if it kept up. (OH .. they do not start serving food or drinks until later, depending on ... I'm not sure. We got there at 10:15am or so, was told 11am by the desk staff, then noon by the waitress, then saw a waitress delivering drinks at 11:30am, so .. )

Anyway, when it continued, I actually went in to see what the deal was. The gentleman I spoke to didn't seem too bothered by it (easy when you're paid to be there, and inside where you can barely hear it!) I asked if it was all day, and he said "Not all day ... only until about 5pm" ... I said that was all day for me. I said it would have been nice to be told about this because I doubt I would have paid that money to be here relaxing if I knew I couldn't, and suggested he let any day pass people know in the future. He just smiled and said "OK, thank you" ... I have video of it, but not sure how (if) I could share it. It was literally a few hours later (and a few drinks later) before I was able to joke to others there "Try pretending it's a really bad steel drum band!"

Oh, and the tables were disgusting. I have pics - dirty and HAIR all over them. I might be able to post tomorrow from my phone, where I have my pics.

  6. My 10 year old daughter has been on 4 cruises so far, #5 is in 2 weeks. She should be Gold status by now and Platinum after this next cruise. After reading through this thread I tried to create an account for her and this is the error message I got:

We're sorry, but you must be at least 14 years old to create an account.

    So that answers that question.

If we keep cruising at this rate, she will be an Ambassador by the time she's 18. ;p

  7. Thank you for your answer. I am not disabled but worried about too much walking. I guess if I booked a mid-ship cabin that would help. Thanks for your review and taking the time to answer me.

When we were on the Breakaway for the first time we booked 8130, mini suite with a large balcony. Being on deck 8 kept us right near all the action that takes place on decks 6, 7, and 8. And just a quick elevator ride to the pool deck/buffet on deck 15. It was a really great location.

  8. Hi, we used a credit card to pay the remainder of the fee (since you likely only paid the deposit through resort for a day) and for the overage for food & beverage over our voucher amount. The Hilton also has a giant chess board, giant checkers and a ping pong table by the pool. Also, decent bathrooms by the pool. You were also able to use the kayak and paddleboards for free if you wanted. They supplied towels (although we brought a couple from the ship in case we were wet walking back.)

    Thx.

    :

Thank you! My daughter is going to be so excited. She's been wanting to try the paddleboards.

  9. I’m from city of Philadelphia... not the suburbs, not from a town “right out the city”, but a true Philadelphian. We had the distinction one year of having the worst fans at our sporting events. Most fans weren’t even from the city! They were the ones who came from the ‘burbs and the small towns! Don’t judge folks.

BTW- I’m on the BA on 12/15! The Eagles play the Giants on 12/17. I know the Giants aren’t great this year, but I am looking forward to a great football Sunday on the ship and I totally hope it’s a loud and lively crowd from the NY/NJ area on this cruise!!!

    See you onboard!

  10. That is what I tell the Butler. I don't like the snacks that they deliver or that the casino delivers, so I tell him no snacks unless I call. I've only called for those delicious oatmeal raisin cookies and they were brought within minutes.

The casino delivers snacks too? What kind? This upcoming cruise is through CAS as well as being in the Haven. :D

  11. We will be on Breakaway December 15th and we know that Anoop will not be there as concierge. :( We really felt like he took an interest in us and it was much more that just doing his job. Unfortunately for us he is going to the Escape.

What we are really hoping for is that Sandy Boy is back at the Raw Bar. He's on vacation now and he put in to go back. AFAIK he hasn't been assigned a ship yet. Honestly, Sandy is a really big part of making our cruise amazing. He's been on our last few cruises and he's our vacation hero. We'd eat at the Raw Bar at least 3 times on a 7 day vacation and at Ocean Blue at least 2 times. That's 5 meals with Sandy in 7 days. He really needs to go back to Breakaway. Fingers crossed.;p
