  1. I call "do over" on Breakaway December 15-22nd. We are renewing our vows on December 19th (15 years). It's going to be a memorable cruise. I was thinking about doing a live review instead of an after the fact one. I can only imagine what would get posted on these boards if any of the four headed monsters cruised with us! :')

Prices are pretty reasonable now. Don't make me beg! :halo:

  2. Yes we had upgraded to the Haven (H4) and still received a bid offer. We didn't bid and unfortunately a few weeks later had to cancel the cruise due to illness ( yes we had travel insurance).

Same here. We were comped an inside but upgraded to the Haven H4 on Breakaway. Last week we received the email to upgrade to the H2 or H3 starting at $750 for person. We didn't bother because we like the H4. We've been in the same room for 27 days so far. They couldn't pay us to change it. 😁

  3. I have curly hair & when I use a blow dryer, I attach a diffuser to the end of it. I was hoping to leave my blow dryer at home so I don't blow a fuse in the room & just push the diffuser I have over the end of the nozzle of the dryer, but I'm not sure if it will fit. Do any of you know or have a photo of the blow dryer that is in Breakaway staterooms?

I don't think I have a photo, but I was able to attach a diffuser to the hair dryer on Breakaway in January 2016. I had just had my last chemo treatment 2 weeks earlier and I had used the Cold Cap therapy to save my hair. The diffuser made the blow dryer gentler on the delicate hair follicles. But the diffuser attachment gets really hot if you use it on full heat. Just be aware.

This is Rick's new "friend" Versace the Lion. Rick tried to keep a wide stance near Versace, but he figured out that Rick was ticklish. So Rick needed to keep his ankles crossed in order to keep the secrets of Amsterdam hidden. :'):'):')

You can get my email address in my signature below so you can send the autographed picture. Lol;p

  5. We were on Breakaway in January and my daughter wanted popcorn while watching a movie in our room. They brought us SO much and she said it was good. We were in Haven so I don't know if that makes a difference. But it couldn't hurt to ask your room steward.

(The bucket was full when they brought it :o)

  6. Wow, this is an "entertaining" thread. It is a big disappointment to have a lot of $$$ spent to have a bad cruise, I get that, but hurricanes happen and all cruise lines were affected. The best responses to the thread so far in my opinion...Ncklhaus nearly made me spew my coffee this morning....

I can't take it anymore.....it's "were" not "where"!

Sorry, but I needed to get that out. ;p

Are you "loosing" your patience? :)

Just so I'm clear, your grievances are:

    1. The captain didn't navigate around a hurricane properly. Just out of curiosity, what's your nautical background?

    2. You're mad you didn't get a free meal at La Cucina because the seas were rough.

    3. Your apple juice was delayed.

    4. Missing perks related to your Latitudes status. Did they forget the chocolate on the pillow one night or something?

Thank you, thank you very much! (In my best Elvis voice) :')

  7. I've never seen any special glow cups on any cruise so I don't know what that means though.

Sent from my SM-G920V using Forums mobile app

They have had Glow Cups for sale at the Glow Party for a few years now, at least on Breakaway. Our first time on Breakaway we had mentioned to each other that Glow Cups would be a huge money maker and we wondered why they didn't have them. On our last 2 Breakaway cruises, they had them. You weren't forced to buy them. The are an optional purchase. I'll try and take a picture of one that we brought home with us. I use it as a pencil/rubber band holder. They have on off switches and you can push a button to cycle through slow flash/fast flash/solid on.

  8. Any advice greatly appreciated! We have a family joining us on our cruise. They are a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids, and a 19 year old au pair). They would like to book the 2 bedroom Haven and then an inside room for the au pair, but she is underage to have a room by herself. Their thought was to put Hubby in the single room and nanny in the 2 bedroom, but then he wouldn't be able to have access to the Haven. Does guest services allow to switch names once onboard?

As has been said, book all of you in the 2 bedroom Haven suite. If the Au Pair is going to spend most of the time with the children there is no reason not to.

  9. As others have said before, once you go Haven you can't go back. In our case that was 100% true. We had cruised in a mini-suite and then a mini-suite with large balcony. We said no more regular mini-suites after that. Then we booked a large balcony mini-suite for our 14 day cruise and were upgraded to a Haven 2 bedroom suite. After that my DH said that's the only way he will cruise. We cruised again a year later in the same room for 13 days and paid full price for it. He didn't want to risk the bidding process and not have the Haven. We are cruising on the Breakaway again in December for 7 days and once again paid (almost)full price. We upgraded a Casino's at Sea offer and booked the same room again. This will be our 3rd time in the Haven but the first as Platinum.:p

I have links to my reviews to our cruises under my signature if you are interested. They are a bit long winded, but I suggest starting with the oldest one first to get to know the "characters" you will read about. :D

  10. The ships get delightfully decorated the week before Thanksgiving, then on the day after Thanksgiving, they start decorating for Christmas. Tacky? Sure...but it's really festive and lovely. The gingerbread houses were amazing! We love decorating our room as well, and always bring small holiday-themed presents for staff. Last year, one of our staeroom attendants admired our little tree, and we gave it to him the night before x-mas so he could skype with his family "like I was home". What we take for granted from the dollar store, can make a night very special for the folks who make your vacation wonderful.

Great idea! We are sailing December 15-22nd and I will make sure to bring a little tree. Also I have to remember to bring our Elf on the Shelf.

  11. From my mom's friend that has (had) a vacation home in Tortola. We weren't able to reach them to make sure they were safe. We finally heard from them on Monday evening.

"We're ok, I messaged ur Mom. They evacuated us to P. R., finally got a plane out of here on Thursday night. What a 50th anniversary!

We and the people we know r physically ok. The island is destroyed, I cant even find the words to describe it. We certainly celebrated our 50th with a bang! I told my friend , who was worried before the hurricane that it would be an adventure... Holy S#!+ "

  12. NCL has the following...

"Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a No Smoking policy in force; simply because these cigarettes look so realistic and therefore other guests' perception is that we are not enforcing the No Smoking rule."

Thanks for the info. My brother vapes and his contraption looks nothing like a cigarette. I guess there must be a few styles.
