  1. She said we had to do it onboard, along with a lot of other things like set our MTD times for dinner. She wouldn't do those before hand either. Guess we will be standing in the line at the cruise desk or whatever its called. This is our first cruise. Wish it was starting off on a better note!

Hi Cruisekitty! Welcome to the world of cruising ! You will love it! As far as having to go to Guest Services to handle the Gratuities (I know it’s an inconvenience) please don’t allow this to spoil your pre-cruise excitement. And true to what CC Shellygal has posted: you have us to help you along the way. You will find a plethora of knowledge! When I first started cruising (20+ years ago) I used a TA but now find the preplanning as part of the fun in the anticipation of the cruise. Even without going through a TA there are things that cannot be booked on line and have to be handled when embarking. Different cruise lines have different policies. Little glitches had me at Guest Services (not complaining) this past cruise almost every day. These things always work out. As I recall reading you leave in a couple of weeks. ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!

  2. Pre booking the Speciaty Dining package (4) for RC is so different than NCL. Please correct me if I am mistaken...I select a time. Once onboard and in my stateroom, I will be informed which dining venue for the first day or possibly the second day. I have to go to a specialty restaurant to reserve the next three (day and and at the same time) to change the date and restaurant if it is not what I’d like. I really do not like to eat at a specialty restaurant on the first night as I may not have the proper clothes to wear. On a previous cruise my luggage was not found until 10 pm. Are the restaurants randomly chosen? This has got to be pretty crazy on embarkation. Any advise will help.

  3. Devotee of the Hampton Brickell. Shuttle to port is $8.00. Just sign up at the downstairs concierge desk after you check in. Easy walking distance to all sorts of nice restaurants. Short walk to the People Mover to journey to Bayside Market. Also, a nice shopping area past Mary Brickell Village that's an easy walk from the hotel. Publix market about 3 blocks away. Nice breakfast and there were free cocktails offered at my visit before the last one. (Alcohol doesn't like me so I didn't inquire this time since I was traveling solo. I gave my coupons to my friend previously.)

THANK YOU! This info was very helpful for me! I’m looking to book the Hampton (Brickell) for a one night stay pre-cruise.

  4. I’ve been cruising for over 20 years. Many years back before I became a NCL Groupie, I once used a TA. Because of booking through a TA (3rd party) I found it a bit tricky to solve an on board issue. I only, and will only now book with a PCC. He is so knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Just this week he immediately helped out with a reservation glitch (no fault of NCL) on an upcoming cruise.
