  1. We've to the boatyard many times. We did do the free turtle trip. in November. My mobility isn't the greatest so when we got back to the pier I found the departure too scary for this big body with 2 fake knees. So I got permission to dive in and swim the short distance back to the beach. Went under the ropes and the sea lice found me. When I went to sit down on the lounge I felt tiny stings. Just then they made an announcement to beware of the lice and if stung they had the solution. So I went up and received a vinegar bath via a spray bottle that calmed the stingers. Had a little discomfort for awhile but nothing that made our day on the beach wonderful. Oh, if you really want to see the turtles go early and sign-up as soon as you get there because by the afternoon the turtles are well fed and not so interested in coming around.

  2. Hi I am in my 60's with 2 replaced knees. I did a comparison of all the beaches and posted it. I chose Beach Limeriz and was very pleased. Close to the port, small and intimate, not crowded, restaurant, bathroom, outdoor shower and I could get in and out of the water! Look them up on Trip Advisory and here. By the way if you haven't yet buy water shoes, do so. They are inexpensive and are life savers when walking on the beach and getting in and out of the water. Crocs are also good for walking on the beach.

  3. Beach Limmerz-I hesitate to post a positive review because the crowds will come. This is not a resort but a small restaurant and bar with a cove along side it on the sea. I do not remember it being rocky but then again I always bring beach shoes. I am in my mid 60's and had no problem getting in and out of the water with my fake knees. We just pick up a taxi at port who agreed to come back at a set time. He returned early. This is one of the closer beaches to the port so your travel time and travel cost are less than your other choices. There was only one other couple on the beach with us. Ed did the walk up to fort ruins and enjoyed the view. No much to see of the ruins but interesting. A bit to the right of us was a RCCL excursion. The beach there was nicer looking but not as intimate as our little cove. There was horseback riding right near us and if that is your thing I am sure Gail can hook you up. When we arrived we were greeted as we exited from the taxi by the owner making us feel like VIP's. The food was very good. Yes there were bathrooms and an outdoor shower to get the sand off. We will be back there this December.

  4. They just go the beach. The hours were changed and this past November they told us they could not guarantee we would be back in time for the ship's departure. Why they couldn't realize this before we were ready to board is beyond me. So disappointed but we still had a good time on the island.

  5. Following this conversation closely. We have air mattresses at home, I like maximum firm and he's a medium. The Adventure is getting refurbished 2 weeks before our cruise in November. Does anyone know if they will be replacing their mattresses?

Also I read someone got a memory foamed pillow upon request, is this isolated? I know hubby would be most happy if he could get one for him.

  6. This discussion brings to mind if I book a cruise while cruising the week I turn diamond can we take advantage of the discount? On the second leg of our b-b we will be diamond and the question is again asked because I read it takes a week to change our status. I will be talking to the loyalty ambassador about this but would appreciate any input from those of you that have had similar experiences.

I have been booking my next cruises on my cruises because of the perks offered. Will those same perks be available as well as the diamond discount on balcony cabins?

Thank you for posing the original question as I too missed the original discussion and thank you for taking the time to respond.

  7. Hi Skiier Girl. We plan to go there and have a back-up if there is no room at the inn. The cost last check was $99.00 and IMHO it is still a good deal. You can not book ahead of time. One walks to their hotel lobby off the ship make a right and walk about 2 blocks to the Renaissance Hotel. If they are not fully booked they will sell a day pass to you. In the 5 or so times we have been there, there was only one time we couldn't utilize the island. The motor boat you to their island. It has a shacked/beach rest. Your money includes beach chairs, lunch, 1 drink, use of their beach toys. The island is parallel to Aruba's runway so it tends to get a bit noisy at times. Their are beautiful flamingos, iguanas. There's the adult beach side meaning topless ladies and a family side. You can walk out on the rock leveled jetty and lounge in chairs surrounded by the sea. You can purchase additional drinks and food. Transportation back to the mainland is steady. As you can tell we love this place.

  8. "Up until just recently the Oasis class RCI ships were docking at Crown Bay...all other RCI ships docked at Havensight...now with a change in contracts all RCI ships are docking at Crown Bay...so sad as I much prefer Havensight."

....Adventure will be not docking at Havensight in November??? I booked a tour out of Havensight so this is not good news. Please say it is not so!!!

  9. Based on this discussion and other reviews, we have booked this company's Fun at the Beach. First of all they are having Internet Problems so it is best to book by phone. They have responded promptly to my emails. I did determine between the two different costs quoted here and there for Fun at the Beach. It is $40.00 if you book for 4 people and if you book for less than 4 it is $60.00. Same offered items in both packages. Oh, no umbrellas because they have naturally shaded beaches. Please if you go give us a review!

  10. 30 minute ride, one way taxi up to 4 is $24.00.

You might want to check out my comparisons, if you haven't already to help in your decision. The thread is titles Comparisons.

I am now strongly considering Fort James Beach. There is a restaurant called BeachLimerz. They rent chairs, umbrella and some beach toys and have a restroom inside their place for guests and a outside shower. It is on the Northwest Coast and borders the old fort ruins that has stunning views. White sand beach and not overly developed. Fort James is about 10 minutes away from the port and the cab fare is $12.00, one way up to 4. Oh, the restaurant will call a cab for you according to the owner's email
