  1. Thanks for posting, we are doing this itinerary on July 24!

One mistake I see... Your title says "Eastern", when this is actually the Western itinerary. ;-)

Sorry for any confusion. I was just trying to distinguish between the 2 current Liberty of the Seas routes. Of the 2, we were on the eastern one including Grand Cayman & Jamaica vs. her other route that includes Belize & Roatan. Think "Eastern Liberty OTS" not "Eastern Caribbean".

  2. This is such a tough age group. Too old for the teen club but too young for the real clubs! I never cruised while in that age band so I dont have experience.

I love what Disney cruise line does. They have the 1820 Society. Daily events and meet ups planned for the age group. Even had a night club night (minus alcohol) and a few other interesting games and activities that would interest those ages. I think more cruise line should have something similar.

Just so you know, both Royal Caribbean and Carnival do allow 18-20 in the "real" clubs. You may have to bring your driver's license with you in addition to your SeaPass. I'm speaking from experience with my DD who cruised on Carnival twice - once at 18 and once at 20. She is now 23.

  3. Yada - thanks so much for this. They don't show a pool band playing for Sailaway! Surely they had the band. Also, looks like you still had a 4:30 departure and we are now 4 pm so I am guessing many of the nightly things might advance 30 minutes like the casino opening.

Surprised Schooner Bar is open - we've never seen it open on embarkation day.

We received a text Thursday afternoon prior to our Sunday sailing that our departure time was moved up to 4:00pm. Check-in time: 11:00am to 3:00pm. I didn't look at my watch so I'm not sure what time we actually did leave.

They definitely "borrowed" too much from the Cruise Compass on the prior itinerary without reading it over. Another misprint example is the Day 6 Compass mentions "Tomorrow, in our first port...."

  4. Thanks a bunch .... just what I've been looking for! One question: If these are the actual Compasses you received, if the 10 Punch drink card was actually offered on the 3rd day, I would surmise they would have to honor it. DO YOU REMEMBER IF THAT WAS THE CASE? Also, guessing they could just make an announcement regarding a different FORMAL night.

Are these assumptions correct? Does anyone know? Thanks!

As far as the punch card on the 3rd day I can't answer you as I had the Premium Drink Package. I would imagine it would've been awfully hard not to have honored it since it was right there in writing though.

I don't recall any announcement about the change for the formal night. I actually hadn't noticed that Day 4 was listed as formal. I was wasn't looking for it to be until Day 5 or Day 6. I found out by accident when I called to cancel our MTD reservation time on Day 4. We had eaten a late lunch in Grand Cayman and cancelled our early dinner. The person who I spoke with at that time let me know the 2nd formal night was going to be on Friday.

Glad I didn't miss the lobster - it was delicious!

  5. A couple of notes - since this cruise they reversed the itinerary, there were at least a couple of things that are off. For instance:

Day 3 - Cozumel - It show the Drink Punch Card being offered. I had the Premium Beverage Package so I didn't check into it but I don't think they meant to offer this so early in the week. Previously Cozumel was Day 6 so I think they copied most things over and forgot to adjust the day for this offer.

Day 4 - Georgetown - They showed the dress code as Formal for this night but it was supposed to be casual. Again, I think they copied the Grand Cayman schedule from the previous itinerary when it was on Day 5. On our cruise it was actually moved to Day 6 which was an At Sea day.

  6. Okay, I'm new to this drive sharing thing. Let's see if this works!

I have uploaded scans of the Cruise Compasses for our Liberty of the Seas cruise last week (5/1-5/8/2016) from Galveston to Cozumel, Georgetown Grand Cayman, and Falmouth Jamaica. This cruise was the first this year of a reverse itinerary. Previous cruises had Jamaica as the 1st port and Cozumel as the last. This cruise also had the 2 full at sea days on Days 6 & 7 vs. Days 2 & 3.

    Cruise Compass

Let me know if you have any problems or questions.

FYI - We had a fabulous time!! :D

  7. Yes, the Russian (and I'm not kidding about that) country band plays nightly in the Star Lounge on Deck 5.

The band, "Nashville Junction" was on our Liberty OTS cruise last week. I heard the lead singer in the Pub when Derek Lewis called him up. He was excellent! I thought Derek said he was from Belgium. Belgium/Russia could have fooled me - they were a great C&W band.

We were doing other things and didn't see them a lot (not because I didn't want to). Looking through the Cruise Compasses, it says they played every night/day except one. Usually in the Star Lounge which has a dance floor. The night we saw them on the Promenade people were C&W dancing right there! :)

  8. Everyone thought that my daughter looked like her. They would come up to her and just start talking.

    What do you think? ;)

I was wondering if that was you in the pic. Yes, your DD definitely looks like Amy's sister in the pic and if they weren't standing next to each other I could see that people would assume she was Amy. I bet you DD met a lot of people! :D

  9. FYI - The Cruise Compass last week on the Liberty had the Beverage Package Punch Card on Day 7 also (in addition to Day 3 reported by OP). $67 + gratuity for 10 drinks.

I was really surprised to see it so early on Day 3. I do believe it may have been a mistake since the itinerary was reversed for this cruise. Previously Cozumel had been the last port on Day 6 instead of the first port on Day 3. I wonder if they honored it.

There were several mistakes in the Cruise Compasses last week. They also had Day 4/Grand Cayman day listed as the 2nd Formal Night (Grand Cayman had been Day 5 on previous itinerary). 2nd Formal Night was actually Day 6. I believe it was probably moved from Day 5 to Day 6 since Day 6 was a Sea Day.

  10. Hello! Just off the Cozumel/Georgetown/Falmouth run 5/1-5/8/16 which had the new reverse order. Here's what I can report on the main shows in the evening + the Ice Show:

Day 1 – Welcome Aboard Show 7:15pm – Comedian, Phil Palisoul + taste of “In the Air” Show – Great!

Late Night Adult Comedy w/Phil Palisoul again 10:30pm – Good!

Dancing Under the Stars Pool Party 10pm-12am

    Day 5 (Jamaica) – Headliner Show – comedy/magic – Nick Lewin – 6:45pm & 8:30pm – Funny; more comedy than magic

9:30pm – Battle of the Sexes Game Show – Fun!

10:15pm – The Adult Quest Game Show – Fun!

    Day 6 (Sea Day, Formal Night) – Saturday Night Fever-The Musical – 5:45pm & 8:30pm – Fantastic!

Day 7 (Sea Day) – Farewell Show – 7:15pm – Comedian, Ed Regine – should have skipped

Intimate Jazz Cabaret with LOS Singers & Orchestra – 9pm-10pm

Late Night Adult Comedy – Ed Regine again – should have skipped

    Encore! An Ice Spectacular – Day 2 and Day 7 - 1pm & 3pm – no tickets, no assigned time – We attended Day 2, 3pm – Great Show!

I suspect that the Comedians and Headliner shows may be different by cruise.

  11. Prior to our Liberty cruise last week, I had actually heard good reports on the Liberty's food here on CC. Personally, I'm easy to please and was very happy with the food last week!

Speaking about this being a subjective topic though - There were many, many things my DD and I both liked and a couple that didn't jump out to either of us. But what I really found interesting was that when we ordered different things and traded bites there were several times that I preferred what I had ordered and she preferred what she had ordered. Repeat - food is subjective - even amongst family! So just remember that one of the great things about cruising is that if you get something you really don't like, they are happy to bring you something else! And if you get something you really do like, they are happy to bring you seconds! :D

I meant to add - the only mistake I made last week was waiting until the last night to order a Caesar Salad - we both loved it!

  12. Off the Liberty yesterday, May 8th. We had pre-purchased the Premium Drink Package for $49+18% per day. Onboard price was the same.

BTW - My DD wound up cancelling her drink package on Day 2. Instead of charging us per drink for what she had consumed up to that point they charged us the $49 + 18% for 2 days and refunded 5 X $49 + 18%. We had gone to cancel early in the evening but once they told us how they would be charging we waited to cancel until on the way to bed so she could utilize the package for the rest of the evening. I think she wound up getting one bottle of water more.

By cancelling the pre-purchased drink package we wound up with a credit balance on our account. When we cancelled we were told that the credit balance would go back on my credit card. The last night I was walking by Guest Services and there wasn't a line so I checked on my account. A different rep said that only a $100 would be put back on my account if I didn't cash out so I cashed out my $165 (no fee to cash out). Not sure who was right but I'm glad I went by just in case!

  13. How ironic! I saw some clear plastic luggage covers at a dollar store of all places. If memory serves, the plastic was quite thick too. I might have to return and check them out further. They sell them Ebay but for much more $$. FYI, I'm in Houston and we are totally rain soaked with more coming.

Hi Lisa - which dollar store (Dollar Tree, Dollar General, $0.99 store, ?) did you see them at? I'm leaving Sunday with packedandready.

I honestly hadn't even thought about the carts being out in the rain - Duh! I was thinking we'd be okay once we got the luggage to the terminal. Fortunately I believe the worst will be Saturday so hoping we will be okay on Sunday - fingers crossed.

  14. No, only you need the app to make a phone call to a US land line or cellular phone. Depending on the app, it'll appear as your phone number, or another US phone number.

Thank you for your quick reply! I've been enjoying your Liberty review btw! We leave on her Sunday on the same itinerary! "We" = me & DD. It's DH's turn to stay home with the dog. :p I thought he might like an update during the week but we don't need to spend $70 on VOOM (which might not even be VOOM this soon on Liberty).

  15. Sorry - I'm pretty phone illiterate - does the person on the receiving end have to have an app (and if so, the same app) to receive the calls free of charge?

I don't want to use the app to make a call from the ship or from Jamaica and have it free on my end only to find out the recipient is being charged for receiving an international call. TIA

  16.

This doesn't seem like much of a sale to me. I went to purchase it and it doesn't include the 18% gratuity. We want to buy the premium package which I think was $49/day, but that included gratuity. This "sale" does not include gratuity. So you get a savings of about $32/person for a 7 day cruise, which isn’t even close to 20% off.

In true RCI website accuracy & clarity  I know you may have seen that the $49 included gratuity but it did not. So this is actually a true sale.

  17. $809 doesn't sound like any discount for Premium. $49/pp/pn is the regular price for Premium.

    49 x.18 = 8.82

    49 + 8.82 = 57.82

    57.82 x 7 = 404.74

    404.74 x 2 = $809.48

Did you mean the ultimate package?

That was the original price the OP paid for the Premium Package. They were able to cancel that purchase and then re-purchase to get 20% off that original price.
