  1. Ah, the memories. I was one of those "back in the day".
  2. Thank you . I did send an e-mail to help@cruisecritic.com but neglected to include my user name. I also asked about setting a default font for posts.
  3. Before the upgrade, there was an option to see a list of everyone who posted on a thread. I can't find how to do that now. Anybody know?
  4. If I had found this, I would have worn this my last week in SAC before I got out. It is so true. There were many "inspirational" slogans during my time in SAC (many years ago when Lemay still commanded it). One was DIRFT (Do It Right The First Time), unofficially followed by SAD (Screwup And Die).
  5. I always interpreted it to be in the military style with the noun first, followed by adjectives. As in Obsession, Compulsive Disorder. Once I got used to that format, it made sense, perfect to me . I always thought Obi Wan Kenobi learned how to talk in the military.
  6. You can thank The Big Bang Theory for that.
  7. With all credit to Pompey Sailor on the RCL humor thread. I just wish it had been a video for the sound effects. The vision I had made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes.
  8. Think again, detective. No serious puzzler would walk away with the last piece not in place. This was premeditated murder.
  9. In an interview, Steve Irwin was asked what the meanest animal in the world. He said "That's easy, it's a crocagator". The interviewer said "I've never heard of that. What is it?" Steve told him it was a combination of a reptile with the head of a crocodile on one end and the head of an alligator on the other end. The interview said "That's crazy! How would he crap?" Steve said, "That's what makes it so mean".
  10. The drain looks like it's in about the right place.
  11. And this is from the planning session. Look at all that clarity!
  12. Well, we have to think fast since we sure can't move fast anymore.
  13. Probably because the promotion is for cruises booked between May 11 and June 1 so it had to be rebooked with current prices/offers. Can't simply add the discount to existing/ That would have been great because on our cruise, the resident discount was $3,080 and the military savings was only $1,200. But we still got a net $600 decrease in cruise fare and picked up the perks. Good deal for us.
  14. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried to do a dummy booking online a few minutes agoand saw the LOYALTY SAVINGS offer come up paired with a military rate. I have to say "well done" to Celebrity's much-maligned IT team and have to admit I have been among those criticizing them.. Good job, folks.
  15. Here are the terms and conditions. Nothing said about US only. It's called a Members Only Bonus for for Captain's Club. I don't see it online on Celberity's website and my guess is that their IT team will never be able to implement it. * Cruise must be booked May 11th, 2020 – June 1st, 2020. Offer applies to select sailings departing November 1st, 2020 – May 4th, 2022 and excludes Galapagos voyages. Savings amount is 5% off standard cruise fare per member for an interior or ocean view stateroom and 10% off standard cruise fare per member for a veranda stateroom or higher. Savings apply to cruise fare only and does not apply to taxes, fees, gratuities, hotel, flights, cruise care protection. Offer applies to Captain’s Club Members, Classic and Above. Preview members are not eligible to participate in this offer. Offer can only be applied to a maximum of two Captain’s Club members per reservation. Offer is not combinable with Exciting Deals, Resident Rates, Senior Rates or 125% Future Cruise Credits received as a result of our Global Cruising Suspension. To use other Future Cruise Credits please contact the call center at 1-877-202-4344. Not applicable to Cruisetours. Changes to booking may result in removal of Offer. Offers and prices are subject to availability, cancellation and change without notice at any time. Celebrity reserves the right to cancel the Offer at any time, correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and change or update fares, fees and surcharges at any time without prior notice. I suspect they aren't allowing the 125% FCC because that would be a double-dip (triple in some cases). I got it applied to a TA for next year with the Military rate plus picked up the perks for a SS (my previous resident rate did not have the perks). Saved $660 plus got the OBC and Tips which are actual money so it was worth almost $1,500 to me.
  16. I don't get it. Maybe I need Clairol. Should I be insulted that most emojis have my hairline? Tired of constant blonde jokes, a blonde dyes her hair brown. She then goes for a drive in the country and sees a shepherd herding his sheep across the road. "Hey, shepherd, if I guess how many sheep are here, can I keep one?" The shepherd is puzzled but agrees. She blurts out "352!" He is stunned but keeps his word and allows her to pick a sheep. "I'll take this one," she says proudly. "It's the cutest!" "Hey lady," says the shepherd, "If I guess your real hair color, can I have my dog back?" Does that qualify as a brunette joke?
  17. And just like that - there goes someone's dreams.
  18. I was trying to be funny. My hair color is bald. Does that make it funny?
  19. Is this a riddle? Are we supposed to use the clues to guess her hair color?
  20. I got a huge laugh out of this. I worked on mainframe computers (that's all there were then, the PC was still a lab experiment whan I started out in 1965) and most people believed that computers were infallible. If it was on greenbar paper (anyone else remember that?), it was accepted. There was a frequently-used term, "Garbage in garbage out" that many of us changed to "Garbage in gospel out". I also believed that a computer was nothing more than a fast idiot as your picture illustrates so well. Of course, some users (then and now) are also idiots (but I know you are not an idiot - you've solved too many tech issues for me).
  21. I didn't know you could own a cat. I've always accepted that the difference between dogs and cats is that dogs have masters and cats have support staff. That's how it's worked in my experience.
