We just got off the Gem on 11/21 and at that time there wasn't an upcharge on the east-west red blend (it was very good) ... at the beginning of the cruise 11/8 they still had some North-South left.

I'm disappointed that they are upping the cost!  Jan

Hi Jan! I am sailing the Gem on 12/21. If you care to share your thoughts/ review of your cruise, I would love to read it. Good, bad, tips would be appreciated! Thanks! This isn’t the venue for it, feel free to email me. Copper0044@gmail.com

    Thanks for the information.

Would you know what category those suites on 9 and 10.  Do they include the corner Aft-facing suites on the corners on those two decks?

For some reason, I thought all suites had the reserved seating for shows.

Haven suites on deck 9 &10 are also in the front corners of the ship. We love them! Nice layout and 2 balconies, one facing front and one on the side of the ship! Highly recommended!

Sorry, I don’t have an answer for you. But had a question instead. We are going on the 14 cruise starting on Dec 21st. I was wondering, when you get on the ship if you see in the events list for the first day if there’s any meet up for you g adults, 18-20 year olds?  Will be traveling with a 19 year old and want to see if there’s a way for him to meet up with some people in his age group. This is our first NCL cruise. Have traveled on Royal Caribbean and Carnival before. Thanks!

Search the Roll Call page and find the cruise!

I am also sailing on that Holiday Cruise and I am also organizing the Meet & Greet. So far the meet and greet is open to everyone, but most family’s don’t seem to be bringing their children. Sign-in and join the conversation! 🎄🌴

  4. How does someone go about organizing a Meet & Greet? I am sailing the Gem on December 21st. I am a member of the cruise Roll Call.

Unfortunately, the lady who was organizing the M&G has not posted in over 2 months. So we are trying to come up with a plan “B”. It seems none of the other Roll Call members have set one up, me included. Other members of the Roll Call are trying to figure out what steps need to be taken and what sort of time line we should follow. Any advise would be appreciated!

  5. Hi happy_traveller,

i´m on the jader after your cruise, bring her safe back to Hamburg.

Sternschanze is a interesting area, you can google "Rote Flora Hamburg", maybe this helps you to understand the area. i had never any problems in Hamburg, Sternschanze or St. Pauli. But in this area Sternschanze / St. Pauli comes many different sorts of people together, poor and rich people, homeless people ( maybe they ask you to give a euro, be nice and say, sorry, no ) and in the evenings many party people with a lot of alc. So keep your eyes open but like i wrote, i had never a problem there at day or night ( also people who wants to steal your pocket, keep your pocket safe ), I only would not go to the Sternschanze at days with demonstrations.

You can walk from the harbor to the reeperbahn an the St. Pauli Stadium Millerntor:

F.Y.I. - on Saturday July 15 in the St. Pauli area, the Schlagermove Parade is taking place. It is listed as a "Festival of Love". It sounds like a 70's festival w/ 45+ colorfully decorated music trucks. Expect large crowds of colorfully dressed people in the area into the evening!!

  6. Hi JM! My name is John from New York. I am sailing on the NCL Jade from Hamburg in July 17'. I have never been to Hamburg, or Europe for that matter, before. We will be arriving in Hamburg 2 days before sailing. While searching for a pre-cruise hotel, we came across the "25hour Hotel" in Hafen City. The hotel is certainly unique and looks interesting with views of the harbor, but I have some questions. It is not in the center city area, how difficult would it be to get back and forth? My thought on avoiding center city is the G20 Conference taking place in Hamburg the week before our arrival. Not much seems to be in the area of the hotel, Google Earth actually shows construction sites around the hotel. Do you have any knowledge about this hotel and the area it is in?? Any advise for a first time visitor would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays!!

  8. I have booked a forward facing deck 10 suite on the Jade sailing out of Hamburg in July 2017. I have been told by NCL that the only rule we need to follow is having the curtains closed at night, so as to not interfere with the bridge visibility. Having never booked a cabin like this, I am looking for any tips or advise. Such as, how windy does it get on sea days, can the balcony doors be opened while at sea, is the cruise experience reduced by only being able to see forward? Thanks for any insite you can provide!

  9. I have sailed the Pearl to Alaska in '08 and Panama Canal in '12. Great ship, not too big and has a great staff!! It is the staff that makes her special! During the 14 day Panama Canal cruise we were following another NCL ship and were in ports together many times. When returning from shore excursions, the Pearl's crew met you on the dock with music, a reception line and mascots!! The other NCL ship (sorry, I forget the name of the ship) had none of that. It was funny to watch their passengers return to no fanfare! You could see their disappointment. The crew on the Pearl was excellent!! We are sailing her again in July to return to Alaska!

  10. i have booked a cruise on the NCL Pearl for July to Alaska. The class of cabin we have upgraded to states that a butler is provided. I have never booked a cabin like this before and honestly don't know what I would need one for. Any advise on what the butler's duty's are and what I could or should not ask them to do would be helpful. All tips would be appreciated
