This is additional information directly from the NCL site.  See below:

There are select categories of Suite which come with specific additional amenities, too!  Guests booked into any Owner’s Suite or Deluxe Owner’s Suite receive three bottles of liquor from a special menu, along with unlimited mixers, sodas and bottled still and sparkling water.

Guests booked in a Garden Villa receive six bottles of liquor along with unlimited mixers, garnishes, sodas and bottled still and sparkling waters.  The Garden Villa guests will also enjoy private car service at the conclusion of the cruise, to the airport or home if within a 25-mile radius of the port, and will enjoy a private escort off the ship, through Customs and directly to the awaiting private transport.

In your experience with the DOS, have you ever asked for a few cans of beer to be placed in the emptied refrigerator? We have enjoyed the water, soda and mixers in the past. But sometimes, a cold can of beer just hits the spot! Or would this be a violation of the butler not bringing drink to the suite unless you are charged?

    Hi everyone

I am looking at either decks 10 or 11 to book a regular balcony. I cannot figure out where the lifeboats are and if they obstruct the view from the deck 10 balconies. I am looking at category bc (on deck 10) or bb (deck 11)

any help much appreciated. The price difference is not much so wondering what the advantage of deck 11 is?

I would think if the cabin has an obstructed view, it would be indicated. Be careful what is above you! On an Alaska cruise we were one deck below the ping-pong table. Slight noise problem, but we found it amusing when we found ping-pong ball on out balcony daily! LOL! Be careful, avoid being under shuffle board areas, running tracks or areas where deck chairs are placed. The chairs are moved often, especially in the early morning by staff. Good luck!

I think you misunderstood...It wasn’t the only option, I just didn’t notice until after I booked.  I wasn’t sure if it would be a big deal and if I should worry about it and change it.

Change it! When looking for a cabin, always check what is above, below and next to it. Everyone’s taste is different. Some people don’t like cabins near the elevators (noise?). Most people don’t want to be above or below bars, casino’s, pool deck with the moving chairs, main dining rooms, kitchens, child care centers. Front of the ship on deck 5 and you might hear the anchor being lowered?
The comfort zone anywhere on a ship is a cabin with other cabins on both sides, above and below.
    Have a great cruise!!! 👍🏼

    Hey all,

I need your assistance.  This one is a depressing one.  Our trip was set for May 18th, 2020.  Like all our cruise was cancel with the option to get refunds or credits.

I opted for the refund on May 7th and them on May 13th to my surprise my wife opted for the credit by accident.  Then she realized what she did and then opted to get the refund.  So we send three options.  Refund, credit then refund.

After 120 days and telling me the funds will be deposited into my account within 2 weeks, NCL said that they received only two request, first one refund an the second credit only and not the third for refund.

We have any recourse to go after NCL to honor the first request and why they only honoring the second request for credit.  I also believe they delayed telling the situation so I wouldn't file a complain with my credit card company as my cc told me its too late to fill a complain.

    HELP>

Find the appropriate place for your question, this topic is about sailing to Norway. Good luck!

  5. On the Jewel Class ships, we love 10504 & 100004 and 9504 &9004. They are located on the front corners of the ship. They are larger Haven cabins with 1.5 bathrooms and 2 balcony’s!!! One balcony faces the front of the ship and has 2 lounge chairs and the one on the side has several chairs and a table you could eat meals at. There is a large living room with a dining room table for 4 people. The room comes with bottles of liquor and a butler. We love these cabins! The cabins on deck 10 are slightly larger.

We have been to Iceland several times - some times as a stopover (1-2 hours) to change planes between US and UK, and about 4 times as several days stopover. Once I went to Iceland solo in 1983 for a couple of weeks and toured the country.

We as family (myself, DH and DS) love Iceland so much that we'd go back when we have the chance. We are booked on the July 2022 roundtrip out of Reykjavik to Greenland/Iceland, and our plan is to fly to Reykjavik, hire a jeep and tour around the south and west and stay in hotels before returning to Reykjavik to meet the ship. We have previously done the Golden Circle twice - by car by ourselves, and I'm not sure if our DS wants to do it 3rd time in 2022. We LOVE driving in Iceland, as well as Icelandic cuisine!!

So, OP, please do yourselves a favour, stay in Iceland a few days post-cruise. If you can drive, no need to stay in Reykjavik the whole time. Do NOT miss Blue Lagoon!

Our cruise will also stop in Akureyri and Isafjord - I have been to both but DH and DS haven't - I have plan to hire a car for the 3 of us to tour while in Akureyri (it's a long port day).

As for Keflavik airport, remember it's 45-60 mins outside Reykjavik (but 15 mins from Blue Lagoon). It's quite a big airport and it's very busy early morning and mid afternoon but don't worry about it.

Akureyri is a long port day! We sailed the Jade there in 2017. The airport is a 10 minute ride from the port. We booked a flight to Grimsey Island, it is a 20 minute flight. Grimsey Island has a population of approx. 200 people and 2+ million birds! The Arctic Circle passes through the island (actually right through the airport runway). We arranged a tour of the island with the airport manager/gate agent who is also the island banker. lol.   Beautiful VERY unique excursion!! We found the information on Trip Advisor! If you are a little adventurous, it is breathtaking!

So I have Platinum status, my husband is Gold. A long ago error in Latitudes that we didn't catch in time to get corrected, and no hope of that now. Whatever.

Hub's very much looking forward to a behind the scenes tour that I get with my status. I'm not so interested in going. I have read here that taking a companion without Platinum status is usually a "no" or at the ship's discretion. What about signing just my hubs up? Do they check your key card, or just check your name off a list?

Not trying to game the system, just looking for your experience so he can have appropriate expectations.

    Thanks!

Can’t answer your question, sorry. BUT, be sure to sign up for the tour as soon as you get onboard! We did a 14 day on the Gem and went to sign up embarkation evening and was told it was full. We were placed on the waiting list in case they ran a second tour, but never heard back from them. Disappointing.

  8. My last trip was on the Gem “Holiday Cruise” in December 2019. The cigar lounge was always filled with cigarette smokers. And most of them were older lady’s. I didn’t bother going in for a cigar, which was disappointing. A room filled with cigarette smoke is very different than a room filled with cigar smoke. Cigar smokers go to enjoy the aroma and complexity of a good cigar and to relax. Cigarette smokers go in to rush a quick smoke and satisfy their addiction. My next trip is on the Escape. I hope the lounge is off limits to the cigarette smokers, or I will not go.

I have received the shareholder's OBC for every cruise taken or booked (3 currently) despite utilizing every other promo offered on the website.  I think the limitation refers to such discount programs as large group booking, travel industry promo booking, etc.

Thanks! See you on the Dawn in 2022! 👍🏼

  10. Owning 100+ shares of NCL stock can earn you anywhere from $50 to $250 OBC, depending on the length of the cruise. The fine print for the benefits said it excludes the Reduced Rates programs. With a lot of us re-booking cruises, aren’t we getting “reduced rates”? A lot of people on other social media sites and bragging about buying NCL stock when it was really low. And yes, the price has doubled from its low point. (Yes, I bought 100 shares too) But I’m not really sure I am going to see any OBC in my future sailings. Does anyone have some experience with the shareholders benefits? I would also not be surprised if they cancel shareholder benefits due to how low the stock went and so many people buying in. Has anyone heard anything from NCL on this topic?

  11. I have only organized one M&G and it was this past December. I personally would not bring gift/prizes. My main reason being luggage space and cost. Check with NCL, they might donate a bottle of wine for a prize. IMHO, the key to a good M&G is getting people to mingle with the other attendees. I passed out the sheet below and was happy to see everyone mix & mingling to find correct matches. I thought it worked well! Good luck!

  12. Alright, I have one request in the hopes of settling an argument on my Roll Call. The topic is sail-away gathering. We have a traveler who would like us to meet at the Sugar Cane Mojito Bar claiming it is a great vantage point. It has been suggested that the Sugar Cane Bar is closed and only available to Haven/Suite guests upon sail-away. Attempts at calling NCL to find out have been unsuccessful. If you are in the area, could you please ask a staff member if the Sugar Cane is open to all starting at 4:00 pm on Saturday for our sail-away? Thank you!

  13. Mr. King, Thank you, thank you very much! 👍🏼 Your photos, answering of questions and general information have helped future NCL Gem cruisers tremendously! I will be passing you somewhere in the NYC Cruise Terminal on Saturday. But I am boarding the ship with a sense of calm unlike any of my previous cruises. I feel like I have already been on the ship and am doing a b2b! 🤣 Welcome home, Happy Holiday and Happy New Year! Thanks again!

Which side of the ship should we select for sailaway out of NYC to see the best sites and Statue of Liberty - port or starboard?  TIA.

Port for the City Skyline, starboard for the Statue of Liberty. After you pull away from pier, be on the port side as NYC passes by. After you pass the 1776 ft. tall Freedom Tower (former Twin Towers location)go to the other side of the ship as the S of L will be coming up on the right side. Watch for the iconic Staten Island Ferry’s passing by. Approx. 15 to 30 min after the Statue, be on a high deck as the ship passes under the Verrazano Bridge (connects Brooklyn & Staten Island). Longest suspension bridge in U.S.! Enjoy!

We just got off the Gem on 11/21 and at that time there wasn't an upcharge on the east-west red blend (it was very good) ... at the beginning of the cruise 11/8 they still had some North-South left.

I'm disappointed that they are upping the cost!  Jan

Hi Jan! I am sailing the Gem on 12/21. If you care to share your thoughts/ review of your cruise, I would love to read it. Good, bad, tips would be appreciated! Thanks! This isn’t the venue for it, feel free to email me. Copper0044@gmail.com

    Thanks for the information.

Would you know what category those suites on 9 and 10.  Do they include the corner Aft-facing suites on the corners on those two decks?

For some reason, I thought all suites had the reserved seating for shows.

Haven suites on deck 9 &10 are also in the front corners of the ship. We love them! Nice layout and 2 balconies, one facing front and one on the side of the ship! Highly recommended!
