I was on Harmony last week, and this was not enforced at all. A family in front of us had a case of 24 water bottles and 4 soda containers. They just placed them on the scanner, picked them up and walked into the ship.

How many people were in the family? It's possible that they were in more than one cabin. My daughter's family of 6 people were in three different cabins and brought on a case of 24 water bottles and a six pack of soda, which did not exceed her limit.

We did a group of 15 on Allure using MTD with 2 adjacent tables - one with 9 and another with 6.  Before the cruise,  we made sure the booking numbers were all linked as a group, made reservations for everyone on Cruise Planner and then visited the Maitre’d as soon as we got on board.  We ate every night at 6:30 with the same tables and waiter.  It worked out fine.  They will try to work with you but you need to be flexible and work with them on times and table locations.

We did the same thing with our party of 16 on our Mariner cruise in June and it worked out fine.

OP, if everybody booked through the same travel agent, ask the agent to link all of the reservations. Also check with him/her about your other questions.

We made our MTD reservation for 6:15 every night in the cruise planner, but had to be flexible when we spoke to the maitre'd on board and changed it to 6:00 in order to get our tables together, with the same wait staff every night. It may be difficult to get a 7:00 reservation for a party of 22 since that time is midway between the two traditional times. They want to "turn the tables over" at least twice in the evening and not have them sit empty while holding them for such a large group.

I'm really struggling with this Perfect Day.

My kids are begging me to go.

But...   when I think of a perfect day, hanging out in the water park while my kids play sounds not so perfect.

I rather the beach, where adults and little ones both can have their time and be together.

Sure I could deny the kids the water park and make them enjoy the beach or the pool, but I'm not that kind of dad.

How old are your kids? There are plenty of fun things to do without paying to go into the water park, including the beach, the awesome Oasis pool, Splash Away Bay and the pirate ship (forget it's name). If your kids are young, save the water park for when they are teenagers and you'll all have a better day as a family.

Can anyone explain the process to me of how this park works?

Do you have to wear a wristband?

If yes, are these delivered to your cabin?

When/where/how do you sign the activity waiver or is it one waiver for all activities on/off the ship?

Is your wristband checked before you enter the "thrill" side or as you get on a ride?

Who is monitoring to make sure only those with paid passes enter the park?

There are no wrist bands. They scan your sea pass card, which has the excursion loaded on the card, when you enter the water park.

I am pretty sure it was 11:30

I just checked the Cruise Compass from my recent visit to Coco Cay on June 27, 2019 aboard Mariner of the Seas. The following times were listed for food on the Island:

10:30 am-3:30 pm:  Oasis Snack Shack and Water Park Snack Shack

11:00 am- 4:00 pm: Captain Jack's- Wings and Fries

11:30 am-3:00 pm: Chill Grill and Skipper's Grill

11:30 am-3:30 pm: Windjammer Marketplace on the ship

  6. We were at Coco Cay at the end of June with our extended family and visited the waterpark. If you do a google search, you will find a You Tube video called "Perfect Day at Coco Cay Complete Waterpark Tour/ Review, All Slides, POV's + More" (approx. 45 minute video). At around the 32 minute mark, you can see a video of the Wave Pool, which should give you a better sense of if you will be able to cool off in this pool. You may be able to enjoy the shallow end; however if you have any balance issues, you may have difficulty when you go as deep as waist height. My husband found parts of the wave pool to be quite rough.

My husband and I really enjoyed the lagoon pool. The water was not deep until you got into the middle of the pool, so there was plenty of area to walk around waist or chest deep. The swim up bar with stools was shaded and there were plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas around the pool. You may want to spend some time at the water park and some time at the lagoon pool.

I wish you well with your treatments and hope that your family has a great day at Coco Cay!

What's the price to enter the park? I don't do waterslides but my husband does?

It's been reported that the price varies depending upon the ship and sailing date. The price will be listed on your cruise planner pages on RCCL's website and sometimes goes on sale.

Do you know if there are lockers there?

Also, can you go in if you aren’t going to ride any of the slides?

Yes, free lockers. No, you must pay to enter the water park, even if you don't plan to ride the slides.

  9. Coco Cay Thrill Water Park is a good price. I have been monitoring excursion prices for several months. The half day excursion price was $44  and is now $35 on sale. The full day was $59 and is now $47. I just purchased the half day for 12 people for Christmas present and am happy with the saving. Can always cancel and repurchase if price drops further in the future.

  10. How much cheaper was it to book a room at Comfort Suites to get full access to Atlantis than it would have been to book the excursion through Royal Caribbean? How early were you able to check-in at Comfort Suites and pick up your Atlantis passes? Also, how far in advance did you book your room at the hotel? Thanks in advance, Mary!

  11. We are booked on Mariner for next June for our first cruise on RCI. We've been on 5 cruises with Disney so this is all a little different than what we're used to. We're currently wait listed for early dining, which seems odd given how far out we've booked. But I'm wondering if we should switch to My Time Dining instead? How far in advance can you book? I'm just wondering if we're more apt to get a time that works better for us than waiting on hopefully getting the wait list early dining thing to work out.
We are sailing on Mariner next June, 2019, and already made our My Time Dining reservations in July in the cruise planner.
  12. Temps will vary at that time of year in New England and Canada. Some days are warm and some are chilly. We did a Canada/New England cruise several years ago at the end of September. I just checked my photos from the trip to see how we and others were dressed. It's a good idea to pack clothes that you can use to dress in layers, as needed. I'd suggest bringing shorts or capris, long pants, long- and short-sleeved shirts, sweater or sweatshirt, a light-weight fleece jacket or water-resistant windbreaker-type jacket with a hood, and a baseball-type cap or hat if you usually wear a hat to block the sun. In my opinion, there is no need for a heavy jacket, scarf, or gloves. However, I say that as a New Englander, and not someone who lives in an area with a warm/hot year-round climate. There are stores in port where tourists can purchase sweatshirts, jackets, knit hats, gloves, etc., if needed. Enjoy your cruise!

  13. I have recently been diagnosed with a heart condition that requires me to have a low sodium diet. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this on Royal. Has anyone been able to request a low sodium meal? If yes, what sort of food did you get? Is there anyone at Royal that I can contact to find out the feasibility of this request?

    TIA

I have ordered low sodium diet on my last three cruises and I have been very happy with my meals and the service from my waiters and head waiters. Once you log into your account on Royal Caribbean's website, I believe that there is a place on your profile page where you can check off that you require a low sodium diet. You can also contact the special needs department and make the request. I also speak to my waiter on the first night and request low sodium diet. Each evening your waiter or head waiter will show you the next night's regular menu so that you can place your order in advance for the next day. They will prepare your selections with less sodium. Royal also does a nice job with other special diets such as gluten free, vegetarian, etc. Enjoy!
