  1. Very punny. It it reminds me of the old song, Daisy Bell. Many people aren’t familiar with the verses which are full of puns. There is a flower within my heart, Daisy, Daisy!Planted one day by a glancing dart,Planted by Daisy Bell!Whether she loves me or loves me not,Sometimes it's hard to tell;Yet I am longing to share the lotOf beautiful Daisy Bell!CHORUS:Daisy, Daisy,Give me your answer, do!I'm half crazy,All for the love of you!It won't be a stylish marriage,I can't afford a carriage,But you'll look sweet on the seatOf a bicycle built for two!We will go "tandem" as man and wife, Daisy, Daisy!"Ped'ling" away down the road of life, I and my Daisy Bell! When the road's dark we can both despise P'liceman and "lamps" as well; There are "bright lights" in the dazzling eyes Of beautiful Daisy Bell!(Chorus)I will stand by you in "wheel" or woe, Daisy, Daisy! You'll be the bell(e) which I'll ring you know! Sweet little Daisy Bell! You'll take the "lead" in each "trip" we take, Then if I don't do well;I will permit you to use the brake, My beautiful Daisy Bell!(Chorus)
  2. It was SO HARD to get up and go to the gym this morning but I did it. I reckon when it’s even more important to do it when it’s hard. Another 20km this morning. Only 1,026km to go. (ONLY! 😂) This morning I passed through Grenfell, birth place of Henry Lawson.
  3. Our next 2 cruises after this one are out of Vancouver and Honolulu respectively. I'll need to think about fitness goals. A weight loss goal could be to loose my luggage allowance. Or maybe to impose a restriction of only taking luggage equivalent to the weight I loose. ie If I only loose 10kg then I can only take 10kg of luggage. I might suggest that one to DW. 🙄
  4. You’re obviously much fitter than me. My BMI is currently 34.9 and while I don’t believe that's the be all and end all it paints a picture. Add to that a fairly sedentary lifestyle. I must check out our health insurance to see if there are additional benefits.
  5. 🤣 I pedal the exercise bike but as a Salvation Army Officer I peddle the Gospel.
  6. Five and a half years later and I’m reviving this thread and this idea. We now live in Cowra, NSW, and our next cruise leaves from the Adelaide Outer Harbour (1,099km away) in just under 9 weeks. I joined the local gym last week. Yesterday I cycled 20km and another 13km today. Only 1,066km to go! (17.2km/day). Once again, I wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew. I’m 5 years older. I’m in even worse shape than I was back then. I have less time now than I did then due to time commitments. Oh well, it’s something to aim for. I'll see how I go.
  7. I'm feeling quite decadent at the moment as we have 3 cruises booked! 😁 Could you please add the following to the list: 19 Nov 2019 ... Sparky74 ... Golden Princess ... Southern Australian Explorer (Adelaide to Melbourne) 5 nights 21 Aug 2020 ... Sparky74 ... Radiance of the Seas ... Northbound Alaska & Hubbard Glacier 7 nights 17 Sept 2020 ... Sparky74 ... Serenade of the Seas ... TransPacific (Honolulu to Sydney) 17 nights
  8. Last night I booked an Alaskan cruise! 21st August 2020, Radiance OTS, 7 nights, Vancouver to Anchorage. The information in this thread is very helpful. I'll investigate flying to Seattle and then the train to Vancouver. We have 8 weeks holiday next year and have already booked to sail home on Serenade OTS from Hawaii. Much more civilised than a long flight at the end of our holiday.
  9. DW & I will debark on 5th October 2020 having sailed 17 nights from Hawaii to Sydney. We did a very similar itinerary back in 2013 on Radiance of the Seas.
  10. Thanks for your assistance, everyone. I think we will take the train.
  11. Only 3 days until our next cruise! We board the Pacific Eden in Adelaide on Saturday (16th March). Having never been to Adelaide before, I’m wondering what is the best way to get to the ship. We will be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel the night prior to embarkation.
  12. I had checked Cruise Control this morning and still nothing (I had phoned them yesterday to ask) and when I checked again this afternoon it had been allocated.
  13. When does cabin allocation typically happen? It's now 11 days until we sail and our cabin still hasn’t been assigned and that mean we can’t print our tickets yet. This will be our 17th cruise but our first time with P&O.
  14. Here’s another one: Carnival Splendor 8 nights 28th May 2020 ex Sydney Balcony $999/person twinshare. Triple and quad share even cheaper. As as much as I love cruising, we have other plans for 2020.
  15. I just saw this advertised on FB. Ovation OTS 9 nights 24th Jan 2020 ex Sydney Balcony $1,389/person $300 OBC As much as I love cruising, we have other plans for 2020
