  1. We are booked on the Virtuosa from Genoa September 22nd so just called to make final payment and add insurance details.

As there is no facility online to upgrade the drinks package outside Yacht Club (confirmed when booking it would be the Easy package at the very least)  I enquired how much the upgrade would be for use in the bars and speciality restaurants outside Yacht club to be told this is not possible.

Today we are told, we are not allowed to drink in any of the bars outside Yacht Club or indeed use any of the Speciality Restaurants full stop!

Of course queried this as it was not what we booked and its been confirmed by "management".  Has anybody else been told this please?

So you board the day before us, friends from Ireland are also on this cruise, did you book Aurea or Fantastica ?

Aurea mainly for the freestyle dining so not sure what else it includes.  Had a quick look, it says private sundeck and spa access which is great.  Nor sure what the rest entails, think its a massage and or a tanning session.  Hoping someone who has sailed Aurea can enlighten me please?

  3. Thank you,  just looking at the same sailing into Barcelona.  Its a hard one as the easy would suit me fine but husband is a beer drinker so would need to upgrade both, which makes it a big jump.  Other spanner in the works is he prefers anytime dining so only Aurea or YC.  Still working on him to book it though as we have 2 repo/TA cruises with NCL in 2022,

    Thanks again

  5. Hi

We have a med cruise from Genoa also in September but on the MSC Virtuosa.  All the internet prices are there under plan my cruise tab so   wonder if its because the Seashore has not sailed yet so they have not fixed any prices

They might be trying to work out the itinerary to accommodate each countries restrictions. I did see a post where someone said that a Spanish port was looking to open for the summer but only for ships visiting other Spanish ports, in other words you could get on in Barcelona but then only go to Palma, Valencia, Alicante, Cartagena, Malaga, Cadiz, and the Canary Islands, etc. Similarly boarding in Rome based on that same rule you wouldn't be allowed to visit Spain, that sort of messes up all the Epic itineraries

    Hi Gail

That looks very interesting can you remember where you saw it please?  Looking to book the Dawn from Venice early October hopefully, Spanish Residents will be vaccinated by then.

  7. Hi

It seems that there is little information coming out about this ship or any of its future sailings.

The only things I have seen is an Agent and I think the CEO of Celestyal  taking about the Experience and also several walk through tours abeit on the Costa NeoRomanticia.

We are booked on the 7 night from Athens on the 21st May 2022 and looking forward to seeing some posts about the ship before then.  We usually sail NCL or MSC so a bit of a difference for us not having the forums to gather knowledge  from.

I feel your frustration with MSC!

We booked the Magnifica on 23 March 2021, via a German travel agency, for 14th May 2021 (2 nights) with the full expectation that it would be cancelled.  We then hoped we would get onboard spend or that it would be moved over to Virutosa.  As of last week, it was still showing up on the cruise planner!!  I sent emails to everyone and also  MSC head office in Switzerland and finally, a couple of days ago, the booking disappeared off my cruise planner.  However, I still haven't had any official notification from MSC.  Up until today, they were insisting that the sailing was still going ahead - from Southampton!!

In the meantime, we booked MSC Virtuosa from Genoa for 2 nights for a bargain price of 738 euros, for 3 people, in the yacht club!! The German travel agency have said we may move our Magnifica booking, so I think we will do that.

As to your enquiry - the Virtuosa (yacht club!) is for 22 September 2021.  (I think they still have a couple of cabins left). Genoa, sea day, then Malaga on Friday 24th September. It is part of a 8 night sailing from Genoa on 22 Sept.  When we disembark Malaga on 24th Sept she goes on to Casablanca,

    Sea

    Lisbon

    Sea

    Barcelona

    Marseilles (Thursday, 30th September).

Hope that helps. It may be that they move your sailing?

We are on the same sailing from Genoa to Marseille also a bargain price in the YC.  Not sure how we are going to get there from Alicante but going to have fun finding out and maybe have a night stopover somewhere.  Don't see a roll call for this sailing but pleased there will be fellow "Brits" on board

  9. Hi all

    Has anyone booked for 2022?

We have our first cruise with Celestyal in May 2022 and are used to sailing with NCL and MSC .

Realise with the price difference there not be a comparison but can anyone who has already sailed with Celestyal give me any feedback please

    Hello All,

Like all of you I am anxious to get back out on the water. I am currently books on an NCL cruise out of Miami in July but now have no faith that will happen. I see and NCL cruise with the exact same dates leaving out of Spain and cruising Italy and France.

    My question..

Are those ports open currently for cruising or are they still closed?

I dont want to book another cruise and have it cancelled again.

Thank you for any information you can send my way.

Hi Anonymoussol, another one here who is counting the days to sailing again.

Cannot speak for Italy and France (but hoping as we are booked MSC)  but Spain, in my opinion but speaking as a long term Resident,  is certainly not on the cards for reopening anytime soon for cruise passengers.

The Vaccination programme in mainland Spain is at present a bit of a non starter but hope is on the horizon.   Internal borders between  regions  are still closed and we have a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew which is a lot better than the hard lockdown we have endured since March 13th 2020.

I really don't mind being proved wrong, but  personally, I cannot see Spanish ports opening to cruise passengers at least for the next few months if this year at all.

You cannot book a cruise.  A travel agent or an MSC CSR books the cruise for you.  You didn't say which one booked the cruise for you.

Why email customer service?  To a specific person or the general email address?  Did you have a travel agent or a MSC CSR?  Did you email the MSC CSR directly to a real person?

If you are talking about booking a cruise, not originating from the USA, like a cruise from Italy, then did you email the MSC CSR in Italian?  Or did you mistakingly email an Italian cruise line, originating from a non-English speaking country,  in English?

MSC USA is very different than MSC in Europe.

A smart traveler uses a Travel Agent, don't blame the cruiseline, smh.

Geobugs thank you for your imput but you are mistaken.

I have booked dozens of cruises and only once used a travel agent.  The total lack of control over my own booking and my own money made that a one off.   I also save on commission and use loyalty discounts, therefore I consider myself "a smart traveller"

I have booked online with several cruise lines, including MSC (3 bookings with MSC this month).  In the past I did have a dispute with an MSC sailing embarking in Venice so I contacted the MSC office in Italy in English.  They not only replied in English but sent me a OBC voucher before referring me to MSC U.K. who were also  great at resolving the issue.

Hi, we saw an advertisement today for a Norwegian Getaway cruise in January 2023 (done loads of cruises but not on Norwegian, hence my first posting on this site). The trip starts with 3 days in New York then a 12 night Caribbean cruise with an enticing itinerary.

When we saw it the itinerary seemed perfect as it goes to San Juan which we love but have not visited since the 1990's - a lot of Caribbean cruises from the UK, including fly cruises, do not go to San Juan or St Thomas due to the time spent at immigration in USA ports. Sadly when I looked at the full itinerary on NCL's website it showed two days at sea after leaving NY, then arriving at San Juan at 1600 hours. That is a huge disappointment as even with a 2230 hours departure it simply does not leave enough time to visit old haunts and the main sites.

My question (which is not meant to be a stupid one!) is this: Based on previous experiences does anyone think they would endeavor to arrive any earlier or, as I guess is the case,  is1600 hours likely to mean exactly that.

By the time those of the 4,000 passengers wanting to disembark had done so, I just can not see it being worth it to us making that a deal breaker as a day in San Juan would have been the highlight of the cruise.

I guess we will have to keep looking!

    Any comments would  be welcome.

With thanks and kind regards. Peter

    Hi Peter

Note that you are from the U.K.   Not sure if it is of interest to you but both the T.A Southampton to New York  and the follow on cruise New York to San Juan  from 4th to 23rd December 2022 on the NCL Epic are both fantastic prices at the moment.  The last day of the BTB the Epic arrives in San Juan at 7 a.m.

  13. Hi, we had 2 cruises booked for May and received a  10% voucher three days later for one cruise but not the second.  The small print somewhere, if I remember right says only one allowed per account but not 100% sure.  I must admit I keep meaning to contact NCL as we have used the 10% on a new booking but not in a rush as we are not looking to book anything else at the moment.

  14. no cruises in December sorry

    November 2, 2020

Dear Valued Guest, As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact communities around the globe, we have made the decision to suspend all voyages with embarkation dates through December 31, 2020. We are very sorry for any inconvenience these changes may have caused. Please be advised that a full monetary refund of the fare paid will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation.
