  1. I have an online TA that's open on WE and until midnight weekdays.

On the latest BOGOHO, I decided to get a quote directly from RC.

Went back to my TA, because she always offers free grats, and asked me if I wanted to pay the full deposit instead of half, and gave me another 50$ (group booking) for paying the full deposit (500$ instead of 250$). I have her direct extension, email and work hours. The "basic" price is also cheaper, so I save around 500$ per cruise.:)

  2. I've tried Chops and Giovanni - IMHO they weren't worth the extra fee. Went mainly to skip the formal nights. In Israel, we r not big on formal:D

Now I'm booked on Anthem (D7) (because of the timing & itinerary). Wondering ....

    1) if I'm "doomed" to eat in the 3 free venues the SAME MENU for 13 nights (If I'm skipping the "formal" Grande) ?

    2) if those of u who enjoyed DD ate SOLELY in the free venues ?

    Thanks, Dani[ela]

  3. my Allure cruise in May ... my online check-in data - says it´s available starting 90 days prior to departure... steamboats

I too tried to do my online check-in for my Allure cruise in June -- it´s available starting 90 days prior to departure...

BUT, for the Anthem in September (!) I was able to do the online check-in weeks ago. STRANGE.

BTW, "my Allure" states MTD (my TA had prepaid grats for me).

  4. those are wonderful news.

I've booked Allure for the "ship", then turns out it also goes to DD. Also when looking at the deck plans before and after dry dock, the new restaurants supposed to be DD are not there

I'm not really keen on it, thought the later cruise on Anthem will be more than enough of DD.

What do u think Royal means by "later in the year" ?:)

    Merry Christmas to everyone !!!

  5. Would u believe it went down again? Our friends just booked it with the 200$ OBC, 2nd person 50% and free grats...

  7. Thanks, cruising...

My friends are not ready to pay double, almost 7K for a week on the Allure....

It just seems so weird that in one day there is such a fluctuation in price. May be a big group chartered part of the sailing?

We booked under the BOGO WOW, the 50% 2nd person, 200 OBC from Royal and 50$ and free grats from our TA, we'll pay 3500$ for the week. Even this seems to my quite expensive for a week NOT IN HIGH SEASON, but we figured (and our friends too), that since Allure is in the "neighborhood", we'll take advantage and factor in also that instead of flying to Miami from Israel (at least 16 hours flight), we'll fly to Rome (3.5 hours...).

This particular date doesn't have the BOGO WOW promotion anymore, the dates before and after - YES, that's why makes it so hard to understand.

  8. 2 days ago I've booked this cruise.

Yesterday evening a couple of friends decided to join us, BUT turns out that the prices on my TA site skyrocketed from 1814$ pp (D7) to 3344$ pp  for the same category !!!!

We tried the official RCL site and this particular date is listed as N/A in ALL categories?

Any thoughts from the "veterans" ??

    Thanks, Dani[ela]

  9. The question is, whether you've been to those ports (Barcelona, Rome, Paris) before....

Our last year itinerary on Equinox started in Venice, then Dubrovnik, Corfu, Katakalon, Santorini, Kusadasi and overnight Istanbul. Very port intensive, no sea days.

But, as I said, I've already been on the Allure itinerary, I'm going only for the "ship", and I really don't mind being again a day in Barcelona [the food at the local market is amazing], again in Rome, Firenze/Pizza.

Last year I wanted to "taste" Dubrovnik, Corfu and Santorini, which for me were worth exactly the day in port. Been already to Istanbul and I'm not into "ruins" (Kusadasi). Dubrovnik was interesting, Corfu - beautiful, Santorini was the highlight of the cruise - simply amazing.

We live 10 min drive from a gorgeous sandy Med beach, we don't travel for hot weather/beaches. Today, as the rest of the week, we have temp of 73-74F...

  10. Actually, I've done the Equinox last summer, booked the Anthem for the Canaries and have a courtesy hold for Allure 4th June, same itinerary.

I don't find the Anthem's itinerary (Gijon, LeHavre, etc.) very appealing....

I've very much enjoyed the Equinox and hesitated a lot between the Eclipse and Anthem for Canaries. In the end, Bilbao, which Anthem visits, clinched it. If the itinerary was the same, I prefer Celebrity. They give u discount for Loyalty after just one cruise, whereas Royal are more stingy....

Allure - me thinking it's in the "neighborhood", let's go for the "ship" :)

We've been to Barcelona, Naples, Rome and Livorno, so the new sites for us will be Palma & Marseille....

  11. I like to swim early in the morning, the moment the Solarium pool opens. Wear my HUGE robe over my swimsuit and take the stairs up, like "pre-heating". Finish my "dose" of swimming, wear the HUGE again, stairs down with my goggles and cap in my hands. Got big smiles from everyone and cheery "good mornings". Back to the room, a quick shower, dress casually and off to my beloved eggs Benedict.:)

  12. That's exactly the title I was going to post :D

I thought I'll take advantage of Allure/Oasis being in the "neighbourhood" since I've been curious about those ships and saw a very high level of satisfaction in CC.

Also they have a "deal" going on with OBC and 50% second person. For a one week sailing on June 4th out of Rome, a D7 balcony is ~3700$, not including grats, with 200$ OBC from Royal and another 50$ from the TA (group booking).

I was also wondering why a Med cruise is so much more expensive than an Alaskan one ?? It's the first time I'm thinking booking for the "ship" and not for the itinerary :D

  13. Wow, seems that the current pricing for JR's on Quantum are certainly more than fair. Given the fact that most people would order one burger and partake of the free fries, and/or o-rings put on the table onboard the other ships, by paying the current prices and adding that always-auto 15%, you still come out ahead of the $4.95 cover.

Are the fries free? I see that the burgers are 2.50$ and fries 1.50$. I've never eaten at this place before, so don't know what's included and what's not. If the fries & coke are also not included, it'll be more expensive "a la carte".

  14. The biggest negative for us (and this is so subjective and personal) is the disorganized buffets that we find on Princess ships. Some complain about the Windjammer, but IMO Princess is much worse. No, we don't spend all our time in the buffet of course, but it's enough of an issue that it has us considering not cruising Princess again. We'll see. :)

    .

We also don't spend all our time in the buffet, but the long lines, the missing items (in RC there was always someone ready with another full tray, when even half a tray was empty), the staff concerned only that you queue in line for seconds, the buffer layout, and THEN you go in circles with your tray, trying to find a place to sit. They were ALWAYS closing half the seating space available. No more Princess for us.

BTW, I'm not too keen on Dynamic Dining, I don't want to spend my time making reservations 6 months ahead. We always do MTD and show up whever we feel like !!!

I've booked the Anthem only because it's the only ship going to Bilbao, hope I'll not regret it
