  1. I’m “expanding” my English… 😎 I was sure it’s an “autocorrect”, but turns out it’s not…..
  2. I had 2 experiences with the "water taxi" to Oia. In 2014 we opted for the "water taxi" at the dock. 25 Euro pp. We boarded that "taxi" and waited. And waited some more. And then some. The owners were chasing people on the dock, and until the "taxi" wasn't full, we didn't depart. It was very hot and stuffy while waiting inside the "taxi". We were given 3 options to go back to Fira, 10.00, 11.00 and noon. As expected, everyone wanted to be back at noon, to make the most of our stay in Oia, nobody took care of the line, and boarding the noon bus was a mess. When we got to Fira, we were left quite far from the center (and no one directed us where to go). June 2022, Beyond. Checked the prices for water taxi -- 30 Euro pp. Checked the "Oia on your own" with Celebrity, which basically included the same "features" of the "water taxi" + voucher for the cable car down. It was 55$ pp. This time I've decided to opt for the Celebrity tour -- due to the Covid "situation", I didn't want a "repeat" of waiting almost an hour for the boat to be full.... It was very smooth and well organized. We had our bus and our places in the bus reserved, and were given ~2.5 hours in Oia. When we got to Fira, the guide took us to a scenic site and explained where is the cable car and gave us the vouchers. "Water taxi" -- 36 Euro pp (30 + 6 cable car). Celebrity -- 55$ pp. For us - the difference in price was worth it.
  3. This. Lava tubes can be seen in other parts of the world....
  4. Speaking of paper plates... Might be a question of mentality. Here in Israel, it is "not done". Using them is frown upon, like "you don't want to invest in hosting people"?? "The dishwashers were invented a long time ago"...., etc. They're used, mainly, for b'day parties of little ones, when you're sure that otherwise, many items will be broken. I also own 3 "festive" sets, but I decided, many years ago, to use a Corning set, which is much more durable, and no heart ache if a piece is broken.
  5. @DaniDanielle Marietta, I didn't forget you. If, until last Thursday, a cabin will make a brief "guest appearance", now - nothing 😢. I'm following a cabin for 3, or 2 interior connecting cabins.
  6. So glad someone understands my English and there is no "language barrier" 😉 Renee, I highly recommend going with Celebrity. A top notch experience, very smooth from beginning to end. I've done it 10 years ago, and choose specifically the Xpedition because 1) was the biggest vessels plying the Islands and I was worried about sea sickness 2) between 96 passengers is easier to "blend in" should some groups travelling together will somehow "overtake" lots of activities..... I'll be more than happy to help in any way I could 😘 Being such "once in a life" trip, I've thoroughly researched every minute aspect.
  7. 😉 😁 I wanted to emphasize that there is a huge gap, in my mind, of course, between Galapagos and all the others.... No way is Hawaii a "close second" to it 😉 😁
  8. Don't say too late.... Since it is quite an expensive "cruise", most of the passengers were in their 70s and even 80s, with a sprinkle of "well heeled" honeymooners... 😉 Every day they offer 2 types of excursions, so you can choose what fits you. Mostly, we took trips with the boat. If you can be in and out of this boat, you'll be fine. That's me on the right side, with the short red hair, just getting out of the boat... Cairo is for us a lesson ... our youngest was posted there, but we said "we'll visit later".... and "later" never came... Our cruise to the Norwegian fjords was amazing, but not near the ones I've listed. Norway is breathtaking beautiful. My "in house" artist wanted at least 2 full days at the Hermitage, land based it was... A huge collection of impressionists, but the Quai D'orsay comes a close second, IMHO.
  9. We had the pleasure, but only for 2 days before our cruise. I like orchids, and I'm sorry I couldn't visit more 😢
  10. Thanks for asking, really "really" 😘 So sorry you had it rough. Losing the smell and taste was one of my biggest worries, given that my "personal chef" is, on a daily basis, shelling out many delicacies 😉 Glad it is coming back to you, even if only with "baby steps". My recovery is taking its time, with tiredness and a dry and annoying cough being prevalent. DH having some underlying conditions, good that he's, meanwhile, on the "clear".
  11. On the overnight in Maui we went to Old Lahaina Luau. It was awesome. The other overnight (Kauai) we just toured all day, since the island is breath taking beautiful, especially the Waimea canyon. The sail by Na-apali coast is also something I'll remember to my last day.
  12. I've done the Pride of America, knowing that NCL is not my preferred line. For the "price" of seeing 4 islands in one week, I was willing to "settle" for a very smelly and unpleasant ship. I went with very low expectations and they were not exceeded.... Kauai and an overnight in Maui for seeing the OLL were my main interests. 10 sea days are too much for me. YMMV 😉
  13. Good morning, it seems we'll need to make do without Jimbo for the next week. His corn and sunflowers will gain a lot of TLC 😉 Thank you, Jim 👍
