  1. We haven't been on a Carnival Cruise since 2006, so have some questions that apply to now in general and the Vista itself.

Can I bring a 6 pack of my electrolyte water onto the ship?

Are you allowed to carry on a bottle or two of Wine?

Do the majority of men wear a jacket on formal nights? If not, what's the typical dress in the main dining rooms on formal night?

With some restrictions on crowds right now, can you still get a specialty restaurant reservation, such as the Italian on board? The same thing with excursions right now..

I understand Anytime Diners need to make a reservation on the app. Is this day of? We are only two, is it easy to get seated?

Any favorite things to see/do/eat on the Vista?

    Thank you!

Ship is rocking around today a bit and there was a light rain shower but it has been a good day. I actually came across a super awesome Fun Squad member who was on the Freedom during our last cruise back in 2019! I am sad to report however that we did not win at bingo…

Glad you are having fun. We sail Vista on July 31 and haven't sailed Carnival in many years, so any pointers would be appreciated!

When you get to Roatan, can you get to that Beach Ride to the beach on your own without an excursion? Thank you

  3. If you have/buy a carnival drink glass can you get any drink refilled in there cheaper? Does Carnival offer any wine bottle packages or beer mug refills like some other cruise lines rather than just having to buy Cheers?

  4. Just a few questions. We haven't sailed Carnival much and our last cruise with them was in I think 2006!

First of all, where did everyone park? Is there still a lot right across the street and then you can walk to the ship?

Besides paid dining, what other options are there for Dinners?

At lunch, are any mdr's ever open?

If you were vaccinated and booked an excursion, did you book with carnival before you sailed or on board? Did anyone book a private excursion not through the ship?

In Roatan can you get to the sky ride to the beach on your own and can you snorkel on the beach?

Anything else you think I should know about sailing on the Vista, July 31? Thank you!

  5. Just a few questions after reading through the above and hearing some other reviews personally from friends. We haven't sailed Carnival much and our last cruise with them was in I think 2006!

Just got home awhile ago from the cruise. It really was so much fun overall! My mini-review: Fun, fun, fun...Carnival is back! Our state room steward was so sweet and service was really good. We were on deck 10 Lido. I was hesitant with booking this cabin because of the noise from the pool but we didn't hear a thing.  It was a very convenient location.

The Premium wi-fi service worked well throughout the cruise. I had to do a few work things (ugh!) and was able to have my videoconferences with no problems. I already mentioned it in another post but E-muster was very convenient.

JiJi Asian and Cucina were great in both food and service. The Steakhouse however needs some work with the entire experience. The wait time was very slow and the steaks were not that good. They had our appetizers mixed up with another table and I never received my glass of wine I had ordered. So hopefully they'll get it together as time goes on. Several people I spoke with in the casino had noted similar experiences. The dining room was ok--nothing great but nothing terrible. The Marketplace buffet was fine except it seemed like they played the same 3 songs on a loop. Change it up guys! After initial confusion, the menus on the phone became second nature to us and I actually prefer it now.

We're pretty much always in the casino so we didn't go to any trivia things so I can't speak to those events. But I did see them advertised! They had a Game of Thrones trivia contest which seemed new to me or maybe I just haven't paid attention. I had so much fun in the casino!! The bar service staff was excellent and the dealers did a good job of interacting with the passengers. Plus I won quite a bit of money so that makes it sweet.

Debarkation wasn't as bad as I thought it might be--we didn't have to show our passports to Customs--they just used the facial recognition camera thing and we were out of there.

Infamous scooter mishap update: The only bad thing which wasn't Carnival's fault had to do with me getting my foot run over by a scooter at the Omelette station. Well, it was bruising up even more so I ran/hobbled to the urgent care today and found out I have a broken foot! So I'm in a walking boot. I was gonna ask if I could rent a scooter! 😉

All in all, can't wait to go on my next cruise.

So Sorry about your broken foot! Did you ever report it on the ship? I have a question on Cucina, I don't see it on my app or my carnival on my laptop to book only the Asian and Steak. Does that mean it's not available my entire week or can we book when we board.

Also, was there a close parking garage that you can actually just walk across the street to the ship? I remember that from years past, but don't remember the name.

  7. We will be on the Carnival Vista out of Galveston for my birthday at the end of July. We don't sail Carnival often so I'm not familiar with this package. I know it's personal preference, but what are the pros to purchasing it. Also, it says not valid until day 2?? So, if you want to drink the first night you need to pay per drink? If this is true, do you spend a lot more if you just buy it the 2nd or 3rd day on board?  Any insight on this package would be appreciated. Thank you

I can second this about Tabyana Beach.  When I did the Liberty of the Seas cruise in 2018, Roatan was the last place visited and I did the Tabyana Beach break.  The water was amazing and I saw lots of underwater sea life while snorkeling.

The easiest access to walk-in reef snorkling is directly in front of Tabyana Beach, the cruise ship guest only bit of West Bay Beach.

By  the by ~ many people believe Roatan to offer the best snorkeling in the Caribbean.

Can you walk or get to this beach on your own, or do you need to book an excursion? Thank you!
