1.
I spent 30 years giving everything i had raising four children which by the way are terrific loving adults. Their dad walked away when the youngest was 15. With the support of my other children we got through it. So I do not consider it a "low standard" to enjoy everthing done for me for a change. Maybe you should not be so quick to pass judgement when you don't know any information about the poster.
Does your ex cruise?
2.
Your personal business is none of my business and I do not need that kind of odd explanation. Of course, you can love whatever cruise line you want. However, that sad instance makes me want EVEN MORE for you or that person than just a mediocre meal prepared for them and a room tidied up... You are so very, very mistaken when you say I am judging the person..I am judging the VACATION. And they deserve a lot better than 'someone making up the room and cooking for them.' Yours is a case in point right there.

People make excuses for CCL. Mainly these: "I'm not cleaning or cooking, so its gotta be great right?" Well yes as long as you get the food you asked for etc. "You have to have realistic expectations." Basically that means they admit they have to lower their expectations..

Maybe the poster just really loves CCL! Well, that's alright then! But just saying that its meals and laundry when a vacation can be really memorable and wow you, well that's why I said that is a low standard for judging a vacation. And I still think it is. Especially for those like you that clearly deserve more.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Forums mobile app
much to logical, I was in one of our wonderful NHS hospitals recently for some routine chopping and squeezing. They cooked and cleaned for me for free.......I loved it to the extent I am thinking of contracting Munchausens.
3. Well, that is one example. But believe me, some of them moved on to other cruise lines... Comparing cruise number one this yr to cruise number two... Realistically, I love all great servers regardless of their background. I just am not sure why the ones from Eastern Europe tend to care much more so than the ones from elsewhere. I am sure it has to do with how the corp treats them...? The stellar service we had on previous CCLs fits the description you provide. We also had on DC this yr, absolutely impeccable.

My wife has a Croatian father and Serbian mother.Every Jan/Feb we would stay in Miami for a month(an ex Captain friend of our was working as a Port Captain on the river) and take a 7 day cruise. We picked the Triumph because of three ports where we wanted to visit friends,we also picked the ship against the advice of many because the Maitre d in our MDR was from the Ukraine and had been promoted to assistant M/D by our friend on another line.

There were quite a large number of first time Serbs and Croats working on board, 90% would never sign another contract with Carnival and ask my wife about other lines. The over riding feeling then was that they could not wait for EU membership. The Croats can for example come to the UK and work in a McD getting a min wage of $10 per hour for a 37.5 hr week.

This has driven recruitment agencies to visit countries that may not find Americans/Brits flavor of the month.

4. It was our first RCL cruise,we were on the Nav a good few yrs ago. There were a few other Brits on board and we all sat together in the MDR. We were having a great time and had planned the evenings events starting in the champagne bar.

That afternoon I was having a nap and my wife was on the balcony sunbathing.

The phone rang and a lady said she was calling on behalf of Capt Bang, who would like us to join his table that night.I went out to the balcony and ask my wife if she was interested, I then politely told the lady we were otherwise engaged. She asked me did we understand what we were being offered, I replied I did and no thank you.

I was awake then so I went out onto the balcony where my wife re affirmed my thoughts that we would have more fun with our new friends.

That night we were stood next to some people who turned out to be our neighbors with a group of their friends, they were complaining that they had sailed millions of times with RCL and had never been invited to dine with the Captain and that this British snob on his first RCL cruise refused saying he was otherwise engaged. I snarled at them that I was the snob and that the thought of having to spend a few hours with a group of cretins like them put us off.:)

5. I work in Jamaica about 35yrs ago. This is still one of my best mates(clic on pic to make bigger) who made sure I did not get into trouble then.I feel as safe in Jamaica as I do in comparable parts of the US.My friend used to live in Kingston but has retired to Spanish Town for a quiet life.

My wife and I have a favorite Cuban/Haitian breakfast place on Kendal Drive Dade, the last time we were there the next door Nail Salon was robbed and the owner, perp and a client died. What amazed me was a waiter just locked the door and everyone carried on eating as the guns blazed.

Visit Daves Lobsters in Oc/Ri they are the best.

6. Eating can cause massive nose-running, and post-nasal drip....it's quite common. If it offends you, would you rather see snot dripping? I think not! Just don't watch if someone needs to blow their nose.
we were so poor as children we were forced to catch the 'flu so we could sneeze and decorate the christmas tree.
7. I was on the QM2 in October and it had to be the worst food of all my 86 cruises. This was in the Britannia Restaurant. The cuts of beef were tough. Most dishes were lacking any kind of flavor to them. I ordered shrimp cocktail and the sauce tasted like pure ketchup. Purely disgusting! I spoke with the maître d' and he apparently couldn't do anything about it. The food in the King's Court buffet had more flavor to them but I like the experience of the dining room. When I went through customs/immigrations the only question asked by the officer was "How as the food." When I told him it was bad he said that he hears that a lot. I'm not such a fan of Carnival's food but except for the tiniest lobster tails I've ever seen my recent Carnival Splendor cruise's food was much more enjoyable.
who owns the QM2?
8. How about a Bud Bar?

The cruise line could have a boat/barge stationed in international waters. We will call this SS Bud. When your cruise makes it into international waters, the SS Bud pulls along side and transfers over some kind bud. In the Bud bar the bud is controlled, burned in the back room and the smoke is delivered through Huka pipes and mouthpieces in the bar. No passenger will have access to the actual bud. When the ship is about to port, the excess bud is transferred back to the SS Bud.

For the record, its been many many many years since I partaken in smoking the magic weed. All though, I have zero issues with those who do.

Imagine the revenue from the bud, and they could charge for Doritos.

I love the idea although the "munchies" may eat into some of the revenue generated.
