  1. Seen it too but with a ketchup bottle. Kid was sucking on it for 10 minutes like it was his binkie then the family got up and left as though it did not happen. We flagged down a waitress and the immediately disposed of the bottle.

OMG!!!! That’s horrific! Who lets their kids do this??!

  2. --- against most "germs".

The CDC reports that such hand sanitizer so as Purell are "largely ineffective" against the noro virus ---- which happens to be the most troublesome impacting cruise ships.

Luckily I’ve never caught the Noro on a cruise ship, but have came home with severe respiratory infections.

  3. A reasonable precaution - but you realize of course that when you take that bottle of Purell out of your pocket, whatever was on your hand gets on the outside of the bottle- so when you are done and put the bottle back in your pocket your hand is in contact with whatever had been on it before you started the whole exercise (with Purell - which is not terribly effective against many viruses in the first place).

Seems as long as Purell is used correctly it is 99.99% effective-

  4. Simple thing for me is to go back and sanitize my hands before I pick up that piece of bread, french fry, etc. after touching those tongs. No big deal.

I worry more about the kids/adults that sneeze/cough into their hands and then touch the elevator buttons, the back of chairs (that you pull out to sit in) door handles..etc.

Those germs are all OVER the ship...to avoid them...don't cruise I guess, but

since that is not a fun option...just deal with avoiding those germs as best you can.

I don’t eat the bread. Lol- I think the optimal thing to do would be to carry your own hand sanitizer and do your hands once you’re at the table ready to eat your food then again if you want to go back to buffet. But who’s going to do that??

I also think the casino and the smoking areas ashtrays are germ breading grounds.

  5. Is that fake science, lol.

No- just a grade school experiment to show children that clean hands Vs non washed makes a difference. That being said, as mentioned the second go round buffet visitors all bets are off. And touching with hands vs touching with hands that have been licked is astounding.

  6. Being a former smoker I feel

I must chime in.. people are hooked on cigarettes. Some people haven't sailed since the 'law' changed back in 2012 and don't realize it. Some people just say I'll do what I want, others respect the rules. We never smoked after the rules changed on the balcony. Just don't give smokers a bad time when they're in their designated smoking areas. Now that were nonsmoking we are back to balconies. Did an inside (marriage test anyone) and it was ok, but we did miss the fresh air.

If someone is hooked bad on smoking plan your cabin locations near designated smoking areas. I would suggest cabins near the swim deck like the new ones added on deck 12 on voyager and freedom

Class. Also don't forget the connoisseur club on deck 5 forward smoking is allowed on freedom class. Get a cabin on deck 3 and just a short trip up the stairs to the lifeboat deck - smoke away!

All this being said. Little miss thing that wouldn't quit smoking- I would have reported her as well.

  7. I have soo many things, most are things I have done.. I am a bit ditzy.. here's the first one that comes to mind... we were on a transatlantic. I wanted some sun, maybe sans halter bikini top. Walked the upper swim deck, found some nice private loungers at the front of the ship. I sat down, unfastened my top and laid facedown butt pointing to the bow.. all I see through the dark tinted windows are white sneakers, running in sequence.. thank goodness I didn't whip that top off before I laid down!! So ya the time I gave the gym a teaser show [emoji23]

  8. I found the Mariner pricing quite reasonable. Can't imagine a new Quantum ship would be cheaper

It was sure reasonable if a bit more than what we usually pay when we booked the TA leg of this cruise. Booked onboard at next cruise second day it opened. I looked it up today, insides for two StARt at $4464 for two. Ya, that's like 3k more than what we paid when we booked [emoji33].

  9. I wanted to chime in here- had an option of a flight shortly after noon. Also cruising Miami flying Fort Lauderdale. This is for first Friday in November. So I called royal Caribbean: they said no flights before 12:30. So, I opted for the 5pm. Since I'm cruising solo will do the bayside transfer thing.. have stayed twice at the roadway inn Fort Lauderdale. It's not bad, but it's not great.. the decor is pretty cheap looking in ththe public areas and if u get a room on second level NO elevator..the restaurant is sooooo slooow.. there were other guests smoking marijuana around the pool.. and I even heard they have 'escort' conventions there [emoji33](not sure on validity on last one). Had to switch room twice due to doors not working with the key cards. I wouldn't stay there again... I would rent a car and do South Beach, Bayside or maybe the Everglades tour.. Have a great weekend.

  10. I only use Romecabs

Yes they are the best. Will meet you when you get off the ship, not outside the port area like others.. and believe Me when you're in your private transfer being whisked away you will see people struggling with luggage trying to make their way to the train station. You can sit back, relax and watch the scenery.

  11. Don't do it!!! Lol. We're young and strong and it was terrible. We used a transfer -Rome cabs I believe. For four of us it was like $40 each, private van, met as soon as we got our luggage it was fantastic. Would never do train again. It'll eat up a good portion of the day and you will be worn out.

  12. I also have severe food allergies. Rccl is more than accommodating with my dietary needs. We usually eat in specialty at night, but have the same waiter every night. The chefs in the windjammer are amazing, and most will remember you during the cruise. Just ask and they will walk you around and show you what is safe/not safe. If I go to open seating lunch; I just tell the wait stall when I am seated and have no issues. (Knock on wood) I am able to avoid reactions by keeping my food choices simple. I don't order anything that is made with something I'm allergic to expecting it to be allergen free.. that's not fair to the kitchen or to potentially put myself at risk for a cross contamination. I usually order steak and a salad. Lol/ it does not bother me to eat the same thing. At chops it's easy: shrimp cocktail, the onion soup, filet steak with veggies and a bite a cheesecake. If for some reason there is an allergic reaction the hospital will fix you right up: hubby had reaction to medication and pineapple juice, passed out on deck and was revived and at dinner within a few hours.. I feel safe.. when we travel in Europe I make up little cards in the local language with items I'm allergic to and hand it over to waitstaff. Have still been presented with food obviously containing allergens, have sent it back and was able to tell they just picked the offending item off the platter and brought it back to the table [emoji47]. We have a younger family member with celiacs it's very hard for her, she even has to use special shampoo so her head doesn't break out in a rash..

  13. Do I guess correctly that the young guy was of legal gambling age? I'm not sure which is worse, a grown man wearing that or someone letting their child in the casino like that...

Yes-he was gambling age- and idk why this didn't post sooner it was more like three weeks ago. The guy had an E cig and was blowing balls of smoke and other young adults thought it was great fun. He was seen by myself two separate nights. I thought maybe he had been eating mushrooms [emoji265] or something to actually be out and about, in such good humor.

  14. I agree it's irresponsible and frustrating too. My agent was sticking to the story about bookings being suspended when I last chased, so not sure what to do. TA to Barcelona sounds good but not sure we can change without cost and that'd be two flights for us in U.K...
