  1. Had the premium on our 15 night TA.. I also had it on a 4 night Bahamas cruise.. I agree that for me I drank way more with the package than I would have purchasing individually.. One benefit I did use was have the bar tenders make my drink with a half a shot of booze instead of a whole one.. I would ask every time , or I would look over and see the bartender pouring a huge amount of alcohol (multiple shots) in my drink.. One thing though.. The bottled water in the package is spring water- not purified. I hated it- tasted like hose water from the well.. Lol. Did I get my money's worth? Oh yes, I had the headaches to prove it in the mornings.. I only 'tied one on' twice in the 15 nights.. I don't drink a lot at home. I think for the next cruise I will get the soda card and not drink as much. Now hubby he likes a bloody marry in the morning and then a few Pina coladas by the pool as well as a few drinks at night. He will get the package. I will also be on the lookout for the 10 drink card.

My advice would be if you can drink moderately all day every day then it's worth it, if not then I would really think about it..

  2. Glad to hear that I can bring water onboard. Had the premium package on the jewel package and I HATED the bottle water included with the package. It's spring water-- I had no idea I am a water snob, but I guess I am. I don't care about the brand of water, I want it purified by RO. The tap water on the ship in my opinion, was better than the bottled stuff. And I'm not giving a fortune for the Evian bottled water.

So is it better to pack the water in its own bag and check it with porters? Slap a luggage tag on it without a bag and check it? Or walk it on?

  3. There is no Park Cafe on Jewel, they decided not to add one during the dry dock. However, there is a food venue in the Solarium with pizza slices and other snack-type choices.

No separate burger place. WJ, MDR, and room service would have burgers.

For the best salads for lunch go to the Main dining room. The Tuti salad is fabulous. My hubby doesn't like to go to the MDR for lunch so I go solo and always sit with others. It's a fun way to meet new people. However, the MDR is usually not open during port days, only while at sea, for lunch.

  4. Yes, the music didn't play past midnight. But... On the 70's night it was super loud! We're we deck 8 right off the centrum. I booked this room knowing it maybe loud. Well, the night of the 70's party, after the party was over.. The dj cranked up some nice bass intense music. Our room was vibrating [emoji33]. Went down to guest services the phones were ringing off the hook.. Anyways, long story short an overzealous dj was jamming out and security finally had to intervene to turn it down. It did end at midnight, but that last hour was a dozzy!! We are night owls and love to go club, but that night we just happened to turn in early. Won't book this close to the centrum again. And I was worried people would be loud in the halls, never heard a thing from passengers in the hallway.

  5. Well.. I'm also going to begin scrap booking from our previous cruises.. My husband loves it and wants more!! My husband has agreed not touch or disturb or ask questions as what is laid out on the giant table in the Rec room. I finished our first TA - from 2012 late last fall. It did come out amazing.. I have the time and bunch to get caught up on this summer. I plan on using, as did my grandmother and as I usually do, wire bound artist books and gluing the pictures down and giving a bit of information in a little blurb mounted on the page as well. I have design edge scissors and will use construction paper to make my mounting backgrounds. I will also use maps picked up in places and old cruise catalogues sacrifice their port listings to enhance the pages where needed. I have to get all the photos picked out and printed off.. Wish me luck!! I hope to be done with 3 additional TA's (including the one we married on) and two Caribbean cruises. I'll post pics as I progress.. Maybe by blogging it will inspire others to get theirs going as well.

  6. Have flown southwest three times. I find it does not feel cramped and the seats are in good shape, and they're leather. We usually don't do the early bird check in and just sit in the back. As long as hubby gets a window he's happy. I've flown comfort plus on delta and found in comparable to sw regular seat size and pitch. Sw does give free sodas and chips and crackers and they don't look twice if u take more than one. Flight hosts have always been more than friendly. I find the big three is hit and miss on friendliness and usually a miss.. I'm also a nervous flyer.. SW hammers it down to the designation, no feelings of going fast and slow, just fast. And they stick their landings. Lol!

  7. Stayed at the roadway before boarding the jewel late April. We've stayed there before but won't stay there again. It's gone way down hill.. Drunks smoking pot around the swimming pool, loud and obnoxious wait staff in the restaurant that took over an hour to get crap food and a front desk that cannot check a person in without it taking ten minutes plus. We ended up having to change rooms due to the key cards not working and three trips to the office. You can tell this place has a don't care attitude by the signs placed around the property.. Like seriously who is going to use a washcloth to detail their car? And the shuttle has been known to drive off with people's luggage at the port before they can unload it from the pull behind trailer. NO go somewhere else. And if u prepay they still want a service fee and a hold on a cc.

  8. Dave4120. Yes, we're registered and on the roll call. We're traveling with two other couples, don't think we'll participate too much in the gift exchange and whatnot, but we usually make the m & m party put on by the ship. We leave the ranch Tuesday and fly from Denver Wednesday. One of the couples we are traveling with is boarding today. Can't wait to see some pics!! This will be our fourth crossing and we are true Transatlantic addicts.. Already booked the navigator for next April.

  9. Went ahead and purchased both of our drink packages online before our cruise next week with the discount. Was only going to purchase mine and then get the hubby's on the ship. Received an email from Royal stating the package would NOT be 20% off onboard. I was going to purchase his onboard with OBC but went ahead and got him the premium for nearly the same price as what the select will cost onboard.

  10. I purchased the premium package for myself. I had printed off my shopping cart in the cruise planner prior to the packages going on sale for our upcoming Jewel TA this month. The cost of the premium was exactly $0.54 more than the select is priced regularly. I feel that on a TA this will be an excellent value. I went ahead with the premium for the frozen drinks, bottled water, top shelf vodka and of course, Fireball :D:D.

We booked our Liberty TA in 2013 when it first opened for booking. By the time the 'free drinks' promo came out, the price had increased for our cabin category more than enough to pay for drink packages and keep our great rate . LOL!

  11. You can contact whoever booked your cruise and request your docs be re-issued. This takes a day or so, but it will fix your downloadable luggage tags too.

I called in to Rccl and they said to just get them from the porters while back. I booked it directly online last year. I'll try again and see what they say.

  12. We'll have to get luggage tags for our upcoming cruise from the porters also. We changed cabins after final payment so, our booking docs show our old cabin number not the new cabin. Not expecting any issues, should be fine, we've seen lots of people getting tags from porters when arriving at the port.

  13. We are currently booked on British airways from Rome to Denver. I had to pay 75 pounds to be able to select the seats we wanted on the longer flight from Heathrow to Denver. However, I was able to secure the offset two seats in the back of economy. Away from the bassinets. What really was an issue was I would call British airways only to be told I needed to call air2sea in regards to booking our seats on the first leg. Air2sea was able secure our sets just fine. The airline then moved the flight up from Heathrow to Denver making the connection time less than 40 mins. Another call to BA, then told to call air2sea. Finally, after many days of phone calls and waits on hold I had our fight secured. I really wanted this flight as we wouldn't have to connect once in the states. I never did receive an email stating my flight had been moved up, so CHECKING YOUR FLIGHT OFTEN REALLY IS GREAT ADVICE!

Also last year flying home what should have been London-jfk-Denver became London-jfk-Atlanta- then Denver. What a nightmare..

I don't know if air2sea failed to email me of the flight change or if it went straight to a junk email folder. Last time a flight was changed that is where I found the email, after I already had found out about flight changes due to the airline's app.

  14. We are also on a longer cruise, 15 night TA. I was worried about 'getting my monies worth' if I purchased the premium package. After inputting values for what I would normally consume on a 7 day cruise I came out with a bill of over $900 purchasing each item individually. For just the 7 day!! I do like bottled water, pina coladas and lava flows. In the past I have done only the select package, but after upgrading on my last cruise after they ran out of my beer, I am a believer in the premium package, for me.
